Its the strangest rental set up I’ve ever heard. Hasn’t she previously intimated that she pays rent by the day / week?
She has said that it is a fixed term contract, but also said it was a rolling contract. Most UK tenancies are assured shorthold tenancies. These are for a fixed term (6 or 12 months) but can be extended either by signing a new agreement for a further fixed term, or move on to a monthly rolling contract.

I did a time volunteering at Citizen's Advice and basic tenancy information was part of the induction. You also acquired loads of information from the salaried expert staff when you sit in on client consultations.

She is talking absolute bullshit. She has signed another 12 month contract. That is the only way she can't move out for 12 months. There is no other explanation.

AND she has a huge dining room. Plus the rest 😡
So… she needs a place to prep
a place to store food and useful things
a place to cook
a place to photograph food
a place to clean up
a place for recipe writing

Yep. Not going to happen in that lovely bright space.

😶

🔺 Ex property manager frau here. Managed 1500 + rental properties in my department. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER did we have an agreement for more than 12 months, and we only ever did them if the Landlord absolutely insisted. Whoever has arranged that agreement wants their head reading. It puts landlord and tenant equally at so much risk.
The only thing I can perceive happening is that, for some reason, she is regularly signing new tenancies - for example, a change to the agreement happens and both parties agree to a new agreement being signed. Then a few months later, something else changes and a new agreement is signed. But there is no reason for that to happen regularly!

Blimey!

Although that makes sense, 3 beds, multiple reception rooms, massive garden...all for 2 people. Socialist Jack must realise that's far more than two people need
One person, purely based on forensic speculation, m'lud.
But hnnnnggg, rearrange the kitchen again really is bleeping dull Jack.

if jack needs her kitchen to be suitable for her work might i suggest she considers prioritising getting an actual working oven? just a thought.

Three DOUBLE bedrooms and TWO bathrooms. Garage, outbuildings. The inner hallway is as big as my living space in my studio flat. My kitchen is a 6 foot by 6 foot alcove off my living space. And still I make food more edible than Jack's.

Could it be things like people moving out (she left!) or in (date went very well)

My draining board (well my landlords draining board as I RENT) is on the left and in the 7 years I’ve been here I’ve never considered that being wrong? I didn’t know that was a thing people even thought about!

Yep - that could very much be the case. It could be 2 named tenants, one leaves and so a new one is drawn up in a single name. Could also be the same if a guarantor no longer wishes to stand for the tenant..... perhaps an ex, who no longer wishes to associate with a tenant who is a liability.... for example......

Reminder: this is her kitchen.

It's such a lovely, big space.

Our last house, we had to breathe in to get out the back door because of where they'd put the oven in relation to it. I never understand her rental situation either. Why sign on for something you profess to hate so much? She does nothing but complain about the crappy bungalow, and it looks such a lovely place really.

Babe, same. Does it matter which side it goes on? One side for draining, one for dirty dishes. 🤷‍♀️

It's hilarious because the one thing she did actually put in the kitchen was the oven, and it's not flush to the worktops and it's against fire regs, as a squig helpfully pointed out during DKL. There's an insta post when she goes on about how she's so THRILLED to be able to design a kitchen for the first time ever, and her contribution seemed to be to put up those shelves she now describes as useless. And the oven.

I don't know... A place like that is probably close to £1000 per month and I thought she only had about £800 in Patreon subs?
She's paying £2k a month. We'll that's what she was paying when she moved in 3 years ago. Probably gone up since then.

ETA I only know this because I found the original rental listing by a quick Google last year. She came to the end of the original agreement in March last year and it briefly appeared on the estate agents website with 'not available until March 2021' on it. It said the rental cost.
She obviously came to a new agreement with the landlady. God knows how, the landlady is sick of her. She's always late with the rent, sometimes up to a couple of months. Jack said so on her own SM. She's also ripped up the kitchen floor, torn down a wall in an outbuilding and kept pets without permission.
My guess is She's paid a year's rent in advance.

This is the self-described anti poverty campaigner who the glossies pay good money to, to give their readers 'budget' advice, lest we forget !
