When I was working I was a Patreon subscriber to I podcast I loved. The host put so much in to the show and offered bonus content for patrons. It was one dollar a month ( a wee bit extra after converting AUD to Canadian). I felt it was the least I could do as thanks to him for the entertainment I received in return. That's the difference, I was paying for extra shows, not a big fat load of nothing with a heap of half-crazed tweets about shite.
Yes, same babe. I pay £5 a month on Patreon to the Small Town Murder podcast guys and I get hours of entertainment. It's a bargain but like so many of the grifters and tin rattlers, platforms like this get abused! I really wish it was regulated. I really hate the instahuns with a vengeance and that includes our wee smol pixie.
Edit to add: has this so-called journalist ever stopped to think why Tattle exists? Because we either see through the bullshit or have been grifted ourselves. But oh no, we're just a bunch of Tattle bullies. Which ain't true. That would make a better story!

Criticism is anonymous because those darling influencers will send their flying monkeys after you if you dare to criticize.

'a-Jacquié' :ROFLMAO:
Thread titles please.

Just read the Grazia piece. Influencers don’t owe anyone anything. What about the folk they receive money from who in return get duck all?
Admin - not sure if I am allowed to screenshot. Let me know and I will delete.
How can you be a influencer if you don't influence?

I thought the whole point of them was everything she claims they don't owe Joe public.

£10 a week?! duck right off Tory demon!! About 5 years before her books I was spending a £15 a week as a student and that was definitely a calorie deficit whilst being a 5’1.xx smol vegetarian pixie, how would a taller or more active or growing person cope on that?!

The frustrating thing is to get ANY TV advert approved & aired every single claim has to be substantiated with actual data to the ASA. How you can get away with writing any old tit to make money in books (or on social media but that’s another thread’s worth) is beyond me. For TV they’d want to know exactly what meals went into that £10 figure and calorie contents versus recommendations for different heights / ages / sizes, so you’d have to say “feed your 20lbs 6 month old baby for £10 a week” with small print disclosing x calories in line with x-y gov recommendations and exactly what meals it involved. With that said at 3k unit sales safe to say she isn’t at risk of them running TV ads for her, she’ll be lucky if they can bring themselves to tweet about it.
I’ve done calorie counts on some of her £10 a week meals and they were insanely low. An entire pasta bake that serves four was about 750 cals, so less than 200 per person for dinner. A mushroom soup was something like 50 calories per portion. This is why she always goes back for thirds.

Wasn’t Hattie Gladwell rattling the tip jar a while back because she’s a poor suffering freelancer and COVID or whatever? I seem to remember that the Tattle crew told her she should get a job if the freelancing isn’t paying enough. I do sympathise to an extent because freelancing is tit at times, but I’ve genuinely done really long days through the entire pandemic and am burnt out trying to juggle clients, so my patience with the jar rattling crowd is running thin. I mean, when I started freelancing, I worked part time in a supermarket so I could have some stable income. I don’t know how people can have such brass neck.

Podcast Patreons are different because they make actual content. They also usually offer their standard content for free and offer ad free or extra stuff for Patreon donors. That’s a standard transaction and you know what you are getting. It’s when people give vague promises but no actual content or just want ‘support’ and offer ‘warm feelings’. That’s begging.

Rather than looking into what the problem was with the free school meals and have an informed opinion it was all about 'no one should want kids to be hungry', being 'raging and shaking from anger' and wanting to pull some kind of big 'gotcha' regarding one of the suppliers. So much shouting, with little effect and not offering a direct solution.
I couldn't agree more with your post, especially this bit. Rolling out a big national campaign in response to a crisis that does have to 'wash its own face' as a commercial enterprise, it's not going to be fully tested and it's not going to work right first time for everybody. It won't reach marginalised people, especially if they haven't had any input into it. But 99 times out of 100 it's going to be because of a complete lack of understanding of community engagement by a company that hasn't worked in that area before, or doesn't have good systems and processes or the right people in place. It's not because Scrooge McDuck is running the joint looking to make his next million.

And I hate to say it but if certain people are going around saying povs love and deserve 25p curly cheese and past-its-best salad bag sandwiches then they are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

I don't owe any influencers accountability. They're the ones selling themselves, not me. Don't lie, don't scam or steal, and don't be a total knob, and we're sweet really. Is that honestly too much to ask from what is basically a business?

The gist of that whole piece seems to be influencers should be able to say and do what they like and jealous women shouldn't comment.

I wish writers about here would stop conflating TL with social media generally - threatening DMs and doxxing - these things are simply not allowed here.

And male dominated sites are just the same
They’re far, far worse tbh. TW abusive themes discussed - Never in 2021 would you think there are forums that exist that post gore/porn, photoshop non white men’s heads onto ISIS beheading screenshots, circulate pictures of their teen babies glammed up for a birthday and discuss what they’d do to her, that’s just the tip of the iceberg it’s absolutely foul and hosted all over moderated forums, Facebook, and their beloved Twitter!

Yet you’ve got these influencers acting in distress over us discussing undisclosed adverts (which are illegal!) or debating the morality of wealthy or high earning individuals grifting via a tip jar? Is it remotely comparable...

Just dropping in to say I think I must be Jack.

I went to the walk in with an ouchy mouth (cba to spend the next x weeks trying get a GP) appointment, and have been here for 18 hours.

I have had steroids, TWO types of antibiotics, seen a doctor, a consultant and have had TWO, yes TWO canulars

However, I have not posted any sad fishing pictures anywhere so I may not be Jack.

Ouchy mouth is getting better, so won't need a special cookbook

I have been paying a small amount to Sam Harris for probably 3+ years I guess... at the time he was in need of the support and he offered I think lifelong access to a planned, future meditation app, so I set up some small amount and that just has continued going since. Anyway, he was good to his word insomuch that when he finally finished his meditation app, the subscription to which can cost quite a bit now, I received and maintain full access. I think that’s good. But I’ll continue paying because, well, I don’t always agree with SH but value his viewpoint, appreciate the content he puts out and use the meditation app anyway. Also, and this always impressed me - he offers a 1 year long free access to his subscribed meditation app to anyone who lets him know that they can’t afford it, 100% approval, as he doesn’t want money to be the reason that someone might not be able to access it. I think that’s really good, and an honest approach - pay if you can, get it for free if you can’t.

Someone with a small account that doesn't even have a tattle thread nore I can find any mention of is talking about the terror of being torn apart on here 🤷‍♀️. Someone's thirsty and will say anything inventive to get it.
I do wonder if it's a way of getting more influence in that kind of case. So say "I'm scared the canal will come after me!" and the generate followers / sympathy from that. I very vaguely know a girl who has like 17,200 IG followers (which is nearly enough for a thread here, really) but she doesn't seem to be as bad for grifting as some. Im pretty sure she gets a lot of free stuff though and is essentially advertising without saying so.

Members of the public don't owe influencers anything, it's not our responsibility to look after them and protect them from the negative aspects that fame has always carried.

And male dominated sites are just the same, have these people never read sports based sites? There the public figures rial against actual abuse and hate crimes, not just hurt feelings.
I'm a male (shocking, I know) and yeah, male dominated sites are just as bad. Sports forums are especially bad, as are Conspiracy Theory forums, but I that is to be expected, I suppose. Politics forums, even quite progressive ones, have their moments as well.

I can’t wait till we have our day in court (I know in reality we won’t - also realise this is akin to summoning the Candyman). I used to think page upon page of gifs and Novak Nail would be amusing but hearing all of our verses being read aloud will be even better. The Jury will have the ear worm of the century! I keep thinking I’ll go dressed as a glove🧤but am concerned @colouredlines won’t be able to resist the temptation and take me down.

It’s incredulous that influencers are put on such a pedestal and supposedly immune from criticism. It’s not just the outrageous grifting that needs exposing but the fucked up messages they pedal - for example Joe head Wicks with his ‘exercise is the cure for mental health. If you don’t exercise that’s why you’re ill’ bollocks or Hinchy and her ‘you can clean away the anxiety’. The constant over simplification of genuine conditions (and lack of sign posting to genuine resources) is dangerous.

Or the ‘be kind’ brigade who set their own flying monkeys loose. Let alone the constant mis-selling of real life and encouraging people their life will be complete if they buy XYZ (and can spread out the payment). Anything they can weaponise they do to aid the shilling. Don’t even get me started on the ‘pound shop Gwyneths’ as someone else so perfectly put. Like @heretoreaditall2019 said - if they were TV ads (or even print ads?) they’d have to prove every single statement - shocking what they get away with, yet we’re the monsters for calling them out!

The manipulation is unreal - and why I find it hard to have any sympathy for Jackie alongside the fact they constantly lie. Everything has been handed to them on a plate yet they still complain and grift while pedalling the Tory trope of ‘look you can feed a family for £X’ while contributing zero to the real issues at hand.

I dip into other threads, some I just read but while each thread has their own ‘style’ I don’t see anything outrageous happening - yes there’s sometimes sharp comments but normally the result of those the thread is about. Appreciate I don’t read all Tattle threads so might not apply to all!

Will Jack post another time lapse video this week? One where she puts all the furniture she moved about last week back to where it came from. Then she can declare that she has transformed all the rooms that she previously emptied. And it didn't cost a penny. 🤪🤪🤪

In the year or so that I have been on here I have lost count of the rooms/landing/garage/shed/reading nooks, that she has repurposed. How many places has she announced is her new office space? How many units have been into, and out of, the kitchen? It is all just performative nonsense. Then there was the colour coding of the books, then the bookshelves were moved, then they were moved again. No wonder she is exhausted.

I have just had a thought, she moved the sofa bed upstairs into the spare room she was sorting. What was BB sleeping on during the lockdown? Her son was in one room, she in another, so both obviously had beds. So BB must have been in the spare room, presumably on the floor surrounded by a load of old boxes full of tat.

What she does is the very definition of rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. She has so much to do, but pisses around all day pretending she's on changing rooms. Her bungalow is nothing more that a massive Wendy house.

There's a difference between moving a room around for a change, (my mum was forever moving the sofa from under the window to opposite the fireplace) and repurposing a room just for the sake of it.

The parenting influencers who don’t want you speaking about their parenting... then don’t talk about ours and why we need to buy XYZ to have a happy healthy baby when you’re happily ignorant risking killing yours keeping them in a car seat under a muslin on the hottest day of the year? No one wants to look at their part in this.

That’s the thing, they try and justify deleting and blocking any comment that doesn’t agree with them and say they’re crusading against trolls for theur kids’ generation. But people use the like of Tattle because of our kids’ generation - we don’t want them sucked into the Insta perfect, photoshopping, failing to declare ads, fake life people try and portray vortex. I would love to know the statistics of debt in young people now and whether this can be attributed to wanting to be like some catfish on Insta.

And whether it’s feeling like you should snap back to pre-baby weight because X influencer did or feel like a failure if you can’t feed your family for £20, the whole thing is damaging - and Tattle is the ‘regulator’, gathering receipts to disprove the echo chamber
