Instead of her stupid £20 shops full of yellow sticker items, it would be far more helpful to draw up a basic weekly shopping list and do it each week at a different supermarket to compare overall value over a period of time. It would be giving people on a budget information they can actually do something with in an effort to save money. But of course there aren't any Mediterranean a pats in doing that so instead we get the weekly whoops shop up.
But that would mean she'd actually have to do something other than her regular routine. It's amazing to me that she thinks just going about her day/week is somehow educational for people (while also being "work"), but apparently that's exactly what she thinks.

😲 Cliff Richard just chose Jack Monroe songs on Desert Island Discs? Was 'Landslide' (cover, a cappella) amongst them?

Thank you very Matt much, I had been avoiding that video untill today and wish I hadn't seen it (I don't go around the interweb to piss on people's uploads, but some people really need to learn to stop and think: "Will this be of any value to anyone? Does anyone need to hear this at all? Would I recommend this content to other people if it wasn't me or my creation?" before pressing that upload button)

Over here, we eat torró (turrón - the most famous/traditional style is basically a hard nougat, but there are 1000s of varieties) as the main Xmas confectionary. There is a fabulous company that makes really fancy artisan varieties, which are delicious but expensive (10 - 12€ for a 500g block). They have just donated 22.500kg to food banks, which is phenomenal (and makes me feel good about splurging on some for myself!).

Why isn't Britain's foremost food poverty campaigner highlighting similar efforts over there?

I decided to stop donating blood when I was told I was a “slow bleeder”😳. People were being hooked up after me, and leaving whilst I was still going!
I can't donate anymore, but when I did I was the dream donator. Huge veins and blood that pumped out of me at warp speed

I think my record was about 7 minutes.

I had to stop when I moved to Scotland - the minimum haemoglobin level requirement is 5 points higher here than it was in England and I was always 2 or 3 points underneath it. Really annoying.

Please God, make this happen. A Monroe v Ramsay Full English cook off. Public phone in vote all proceeds to charity. Will viewers embrace cockney sparrow Jacks authentic working class fry up or will they prefer Gordon's more upmarket number?

Can't say I'm a fan of either of them but I'd be #TeamRamsay all the way here.

I would love it, particularly because you know Ramsay would not give a duck about what JM thinks.

I know this is the wrong thread, but I don’t want to jump on the F&D one to ask a question; only to disappear again, as I can’t keep track of both...

Can someone who makes fantastic Yorkies PLEASE give me their recipe? Everything I’ve tried turns out really really stodgy. Last attempt, weighing eggs and using same of flour and milk were like muffins (our foxes ate them, after a quick game of kicky-pudding). Mary Berry has so many eggs I know it will be a disaster. Jamie’s didn’t work either. Yes, I AM the common denominator.
Thankspaceyou.
Are you sure your oven is hot enough, and does your batter sizzle when it goes into the large? If not, they won't work properly

I love that in this picture* it looks Ramsay’s mid-rant, and the food pic is a speech bubble in place of the words “f***ing breakfast”.

Also, @jenny2603 please get in touch with BB so she can commission all of your ideas, there’s enough tv gold for a whole channel!
*(obligatory mention to say I loathe the rum and won’t give them a click).

Somebody asked why JM doesn't highlight more local initiatives and I think it's a great point. She has so many followers (and so many of them eager to relieve some middle class guilt) and for many small projects her focus could mean a welcome temporary boost in donations. She could have done an adventscalendar, putting a UK food poverty community project (or international) in the spotlight each day to say: "Hey look what wonderful things these people are doing, chuck them a few quid if you can afford it". It would be a bigger impact than her Christmas menu. (Jack, if you're reading this, it's not too late, you could do a 12-days-of-Christmas kind of thing, from Christmas 25 Dec to Three Kings on 6 Jan)

Like that Cornish project asking if they could use her recipes and who she told they could link to it because of her HARD work. Still can't believe she didn't try to lift them up and shine a bit more light on them (I do not know them at all, I live on the opposite side of the country, so I hav no affiliation).

For someone claiming she has such burning desires to HELP, she doesn't share her platform at all (she'll share so others can be her props)

(Note of contemplation....I do think celebrities, from A to Z-list, can be picky in what or who they lend their weight to and they can say no to requests or course. Generally I would say they don't owe people they don't know their energy. But if you're claiming to be an activist with your whole image being about helping those that are dealing with food poverty and you're not putting out ladders to make sure others can be elevated, you're doing it wrong)

WHAAAAAAAAT!!! Holy tit. My Aunt edit cookbooks (🔺) and that is madness. I love / hate finding mistakes in cook books. In Mowgli Street Food there’s a recipe for Courgette Flower Bhajis but in the Index it’s Courgette Flour 🙃
You might enjoy this famously egregious error from Penguin Australia in 2010:
