Her appropriation of ADHD apart from being offensive also makes no sense. I could understand ADHD being an explanation for someone working in an unconventional way or struggling to manage competing demands but I've never known it to cause anyone to con someone out their heating allowance.

And Jack claims to have every one of those traits below the waterline, plus those above. Every one, every single one, doesn't leave out a single one, no sir, she's got the lot.

As I said in a previous message, she reads a diagnosis on WebMD, or wherever, and thinks that she has to display each and every symptom for it to be believed. Quite the reverse, rarely do people have every single one of the symptoms/traits mentioned.

It actually shows her up to be a fraud.

It’s very easy to get a private diagnosis of ADHD, especially as an adult. There isn’t a blood test or anything- the diagnosis comes from a series of questionnaires (and psychometric tests possibly). If you want a diagnosis you can read up and answer the questions as a person with ADHD would. In my job sometimes students game the system to access study drugs (Ritalin, adderal as they are popular as study aids/ stimulants).

I apologise in advance to the canal if this was spotted in earlier threads which I’ve not grunked, but I took a receipt of the tip jar. I couldn’t find it on the current website, but found it on a similar up to date version of the website as shown.

Last time I was on her website it was in its previous style with blog posts etc and the tip jar was certainly prominent.

Here it seems to be called “tip 2”
Thought she wasn’t a chef?

I have a friend very similar in loveliness to the one you've just described who got a late diagnosis recently after being on an NHS waiting list for about three years. He was wonderfully successful before, the only difference now is that his life is easier.

I know someone who was diagnosed as an adult. She started meds just as I met her, the first ones didn’t work. The second ones- like a different person, so calm and measured until later on in the evening when they started to wear off!
Successful in her career, tied herself in circles to stay on top of the work and deliver, never knowingly grifted.

I've just been on the site too and couldn't find an obvious tip jar link. I did find a link at the bottom of a blog post which takes you to a donation page but it took some finding. Has she partially removed it or was it always like that?

i get annoyed at her co-opting of ADHD, autism and neurodiversity in general also, as someone with a professional and personal specialism/interest () and my own diagnosis. i actually hate social media and don’t use it because i notice the people who are loudest publicly about their difficulties/differences often seem to have their own ulterior motive for doing so be it financial, for attention, internet fame or as a means to excuse their behaviour. most of us are just trying to struggle on with our lives quietly finding ways to manage and while i do think the actual reality of different neurodiverse presentations and the impact of ‘symptoms’ should be visible, loud attention-seeking people like JM drown out others voices and actually don’t help the cause at all IMO.

i don’t want to be all medical model either but i don’t trust that some of the louder advocates (no one in specific, just in general) do actually meet the clinical criteria, since it’s on the internet and people can portray their presentation and any diagnoses however they like. often for autism especially i notice so many self-diagnosed people putting themselves out as figureheads and speaking for others and attacking people. traits of neurodevelopmental conditions are present in every person but it’s the co-occurrence, pervasiveness throughout the lifespan and across different contexts, and the impact and while self-diagnosis for autism is valid because of lack of diagnostic services for adults especially, i see things getting quite out of hand on social media and it bothers me. the ADHD stuff bothers me more though. i hate seeing people like JM talking about the medication that they take and specifically highlighting how it’s a controlled drug, a stimulant, anything else JM has said about hers that i can’t remember now. she is majorly attention-seeking on that front (just remembered another - when she made a big deal about not giving the name of her medication because it makes you lose weight! i eat like fuck on mine btw )

this is a pointless post with no real purpose really, just wanted to chip in with my thoughts in support of others who get pissed off about this. went off on a tangent so i apologise

There is a stand up comedian called Bethany Black who talks about her diagnosies on stage, she’s is also on the National Autistic Soc website being interviewed. I would advise any frau or Herr who might want an irreverent laugh to check her out. I won’t give away her lines but she has one SO appropriate!!!!!
