am i the only one who found it odd that he didn't say which country was he supposed to travel to? it is as if he was interested in that other country just for the sake of being "ABROAD", not because of the culture, food, people, etc.

Migrated from GG the other day so my first post here but I would say Ibz maybe didn't word it exactly right but in that bit where he mentions arrogance he also says those people feel 'entitled' which I heard as meaning people like Jack who say 'I'm gonna show them they were wrong before! Take that Oxbridge!' as opposed to just understanding that getting in means you deserve it..I also feel like people like that who do eventually get in feel superior to their classmates even though those classmates also got in lol
Anyway I sincerely hope that he doesn't carry the double rejection with him for years to come regardless of whether he gets in next year or not because it really isn't the be all and end all of academia or his career or whatever, he just needs time to sit and think: what does he really want out of a masters? Youtube content? Bragging rights? A stepping stone to a career in academia? To further his knowledge of literature? To avoid the "real world" for another year? Only time will tell

Yeah I didn't really understand how he concluded it could have only been from the supermarket. You can absolutely be exposed to coronavirus and only develop symptoms 14 days later, like you said. His family home was in Tier 2 (I think?) so they could've had other extended family over for Christmas. Agree it's far more likely from Christmas mixing than from touching a bag of flour at Aldi. And tbh it could even go back further than that - we don't know if he got the test on the first day he developed symptoms, or whether he waited to get a test as his symptoms persisted. So it's not impossible that he could've picked it up when he travelled back home for Christmas... there's plenty of reports of incubation periods exceeding 2 weeks.
Also, he's living at home, so surely his family is also going in and out of the house for food shopping etc, so it's not necessarily from his own trip to Aldi.

Fair enough if he does want to focus on his career - it seems like a wise choice, especially as it is so hard for graduates to get anything at the moment. He also does mention that he shares “all of his failures” in that thread so maybe he didn’t apply. Seems like odd timing though...

Why the fuck has he gone abroad??? Some people seem to have forgotten that there’s still a pandemic, looking like it’s heading to a second wave, but Jack goes on holiday. It obviously wasn’t enough for him to move back to Durham, then move to London, seeing everyone under the sun not social distancing - and now he’s gone on holiday. I actually despair for these influencers- and Jack is supposed to be an intelligent first class student 
Sussex. He went to my sixth form and we're from the same place (He's my sisters age so never had any interaction except being shown his videos by a history teacher we had in common) so if he travelled home after the announcement he was going from tier 4 to 2
I’m not from the UK so excuse my ignorance but where I am from (Australia) if you want go get a graduate scheme post uni you start applying in your final year. Is that the same in the UK? Do you think he would be applying for graduate schemes now or just jobs to work in a bookshop? He just seems so lazy and entitled to me to have rested plan A on doing a Masters at Oxford and not bothering to apply for any grad schemes in his final year. I also don’t see how his application would be that competitive. At least for the programs I went for you had to give examples of problem solving, team work, strategic thinking. Not really sure what he could offer an employer to be honest, I’m sure most wouldn’t care about his YouTube and that seems to be his only point of difference. It will be VERY interesting to see what job he gets though at this point he’ll probably just loiter around Camden until he can apply for masters again.

I feel sad for Jack tbh. He’s an insufferable twat but I think he maybe recognizes that he didn’t diversify his channel enough and that why he’s obsessed with Oxford, it’ll give him a niche to attract students who are going into their undergrad because they want to see oxford and don’t give two fecks about who’s filming it. He should have slowly introduced literature stuff on to his channel way earlier, maybe analysis of the current GCSE or A level stuff (if he hasn’t already) and then gone from there.
Also they’ll definitely take his rejections into account when making a decision. I was told when I rejected my offer that it was pretty much “the end of my relationship” with them. And that the system would highlight any application I had made and that they’d all be looked at.

I always find that making a public fuss (i.e. on social media) is always a good way to get the wheels turning, especially if the company has no trustpilot page.

It doesn't even matter if he's gay. He looks like he comes from an extremely privileged family who are more likely (that we know of) to be accepting of his sexuality

He did keep using COVID as an excuse, maybe he'll play on that when he reapplies? I honestly wouldn't have thought it would matter whether he got a low first or a high 1st, but like we keep saying, maybe it's the low first and the disorganised approach to work + bad attitude? Let's hope he applies to more than one university this time round anyway. Holly Gabrielle done the same thing when she applied to medicine - put all of her eggs into the Cambridge basket and ended up disappointed.

He knew about his Oxford rejection back in March - so the London thing probably came way later? Very very weird either way though.
Exactly!! Oxbridge aren't the be all and end all, he's only interested in the 'status' of his uni over the actual course which is bound to show.
