I just watched the part of the Q&A where he explains his living situation. Some of the reasons seemed valid, like wanting to get out of his hometown and be independent. But he doesn't need London in order to accomplish that. There are other cities that offer the services he needs while also having a way lower cost of living.

So, was thinking about the Oxford thing. What a load of BS about that course being the only one he liked the structure of. Surely English Lit courses can't differ all that much?
He just wants it for the brag - which is fine.- If he was just honest about it...

Does anyone know what career he actually wants? I know he's mentioned a PhD before, but what does he want to do after that?
For some reason, I think he might want to do something in the... entertainment industry, maybe host tv programs or write for tv shows (more specifically for dramas, possibly screen write for the episodes)

I heard this too - my sister did an integrated Masters at Manchester in neuroscience (where you automatically progress onto a masters after your bachelors and get an MSci rather than a BSc and MSc) and she applied for a lot of PhD programs around the country afterwards and she thinks one of the reasons she got rejected from all of them was because she didn't move elsewhere for her masters. I've heard it from other people too but I think it's mostly in STEM subjects tbh, I don't think it's as important in arts subjects
Some STEM subjects do stop you from doing postdocs at the same uni/in the same department as the one you were awarded your PhD, but I'm in the humanities and it's fine in my subject. So I think it's dependent on what you're doing and the attitudes of the academics in your field.

Yeh I hope he hasn't got in because we all know he'll be insufferable but honestly I guess he might have taken them down because he did get in? 🤷🏽‍♀️ Wouldn't be surprised as Oxbridge applications are right down because of the pandemic so less competition than last year and they still want those tuition fees...

He did buy 43 books on Amazon, which, seeing the average new book is $15 where I'm from and some look like classics so maybe $10, that is around $400-600...
Oh no some of them were like £1 or £2 they’re all second hand! So maybe £200 or so

His book dedication is:

"This book is dedicated to my A Level Biology teacher, who told me it was time to start aiming lower - I'm glad I didn't."

Which strikes me as a bit petty really? Like he's hung up on something one teacher said to him five years ago.

He needs to move on, my time in school was awful with all of my teachers because they didn't understand my learning disability. Uni improved my life tenfold and I don't sit and think about them all day 🙄
Imagine being that bitter that you use the dedication of your debut book to have a dig at someone from the past.

Ahh Jack, you can’t cope with the idea that not everybody worships you, can you! You narcissist.

These new bookish vids reminded me that I actually like chill/normal Jack😅.
I guess it's just his Internet persona that I find insufferable, but I'd honestly love to hang out with him irl.
Seems like a well rounded, intelligent guy
same!!! i was actually able to watch the whole video through AND enjoyed it too!

Does anyone know what classification he got in his degree? Can't believe we've watched his videos for 3 years, and don't get to find out whether he got a first, or 2:1 or 2:2 in the end!! I'm guessing its probably not a first, or he would have been shouting about it, on his channel!
Exam results at Durham aren’t out yet, I think it’s in a couple of weeks

To be fair, it fits with his style of video recently. They've all been 'I read every book x celebrity recommended'. He's trying to cash in on all celebrities, not just BTS.
Thank you for correcting me! It really annoys me when people do this because, to me, it makes their channel much less personal? Like it’s sad because obviously Jack loves reading and I’d like to think he has made this second channel to share that. But all these celebrity challenges and challenges based off trends like you say is just one big opportunity to cash in on fanbases. I wouldn’t mind if they were sprinkled in between normal reading vlogs and stuff he was passionate about but from my knowledge, these trendy ones are all he’s done of recent. Just seems more fake to me :/

Something I noticed! He got gifted a new laptop in his last video and did nothing but rave about how good it is and used it in the video, only to show on tiktok that he’s still using his MacBook Pro 🙄
Was it the HP one? Yep, I don't see him defecting over to HP when Apple makes him look richer.

I've worked it out!

You know how Jack said he wasn't doing a masters (not that he didn't apply) and that he hadn't been rejected by Oxford and it just sounded like weird wording???

Astrid's tweet helped me realise what probably happened,

I'm 99% sure he did apply but was waitlisted.

I know its speculation but he unlisted his vids at the time the offers / waitlist / rejections came out and he was careful not to say that he didn't apply so I am so sure this is what happened.

Did anyone watch his newest video and cringe at the voice note in the beginning?
Jack, maybe you’ve ‘lost yourself’ 🙄 because your entire personality was based around being a last minute student. Now you’re living in London without a job because you’ve got no employable skills

The new clothes might get you a few likes on Instagram, but they won’t get you a job 😘
So I actually kinda liked it, but But But BUT I don't think it's Jack at all. It sounds like the beginning of a documentary where a guy gets divorced & decides to go live in the woods for a couple of months and comes out with a new perspective on things.

Sorry for the double post but also:
"I'm not obsessed with Oxford"

"I'm definitely applying to Oxford again"

This time he's applying to other places, which is what he should have done the first time round (even though he got very defensive when someone pointed this out after his rejection). How frustrating.
Where did he say he was applying again? Not doubting you, just want to know the context out of interest.

Jack gave off total mean girl vibes in today's video! Throwing shade at Holly Gabrielle without further explanation, when earlier on in the same video he'd mentioned how down he felt the day another Youtuber released a video about him with some mild criticism? Makes no sense.
Do you have a timestamp?

He's not shown us that he's been doing either thing-obviously he might have been, but from all his socials it seems he's been fully alone for the past month.
Fair enough. It was just considering his behaviour during the rest of the pandemic im sceptical he has been alone

Tbf I live alone and I can't imagine living with someone during a pandemic. Yes there's the odd moment of loneliness but generally I'm glad I don't have someone constantly there 24/7 🤣🤣 ive rarely been bored.

I could have moved in with my mum but we didn't think that would do either of us any good.
That's understandable but in lockdown 2 Jack showed himself travelling from London to home almost every Sunday to see his family. They're his support bubble, so it's not illegal. But there is guidance how far you should travel atm and London to Sussex would definitely be over that. I just hope he doesn't do that this time because it's so much worse out there atm and if he wants to see his parents he could have just stayed at home there was no need to move to London rn

has anyone seen his recent ig stories? have i missed something about uk lockdown guidelines or is he flouting them by having friends over and definitely not staying 6 feet apart
I was wondering the same! Don’t live in the UK so I’m not up to date with all restrictions but that definitely seemed a bit inappropriate? What a great role model he is

Haha it's weird to actively look out comments and then complain but influencers are generally a weird bunch.

In fairness though those photos are nicer than his usual full length shots. He does look better although the outfit is an acquired taste but to each their own.
It’s the mouth half hanging open for me!
