I made it as far as the title of his new video.

Why add "(and i read 164)" other than to brag (even though he didn't actually read them)?
Also why can't "YouTube's Resident Librarian" and supposed lover of language and literature use capital letters in his videos? Would putting an ounce of effort and care into something that you're earning money for betray the faux "my life is so chaotic gahhh no time for caps and punctuation" influencer persona?

Remember: this is the guy who couldn't work out how to buy a return fare on a train. Seriously.
It boils my blood when he refers to himself as "YouTube's Resident Librarian" - he seems to have no notion that to be a librarian one first needs a qualification. He doesn't even have a library card.
Hehas the mind of a (not very bright) child. Next he'll be calling himself a "spaceman" or a "pilot" and making "brrmmm-brmmmm" noises when he boards a plane. Anyway, I've annoyed him to the point he is now begging me to stop watching his videos. As if that's some sort of high I just can't live without.

I told them he is not reading the books that he claims he has read. Which is simply the truth. But the more rabid of his fans were all over me, justifying his lies, telling me he did so read them! When I told them that there are only two possible explanations for his bizarre book 'reviews' being full of holes and errors either (a) he doesn't read the books (b) he doesn't comprehend what he's read.
It didn't go over at all well. They all turned on me telling me I was nasty, didn't have a job, was unqualified, was bitter etc etc and (ironically) should stop insulting a stranger on the internet!

Having worked with uni admissions before. Jack's attitude is fairly common in the more entitled applicants who can't comprehend being rejected. Also nothing puts academics and admissions staff off more than someone who doesn't take no for an answer. What that is telling them if you have attitude at the admissions stage, what will you be like when you get marks you don't like, or a unit or group you don't like etc etc. It speaks to character.
Sadly published author means very little these days, Joey Essex is a published author..... Also, anyone who has got to the top of their field doesn't assume they know everything. The willingness to learn and grow is what makes people successful.
He seems to think that Paris only exists within a 500 meter radius of the Eiffel Tower. It is so peculiar and almost… colonialist? Maybe that’s not the right word but there is such a touristic sentiment to it.

7 books in 7 days.... except he's already discussed reading some of these books months ago. Goodreads confirms he started reading these in February. I used to really like Jack and his content, but the constant lying just makes him insufferable now.

It's not just that, it's the smugness as if his taste in books is so special and aspirational. There are so many people who are on booktube/bookstagrm that read similar books and genres but they don't act like they are the first one to read this way.

His review for Vee's book is so vague that it's clearly another "didn't read the book" situation.
There's also another glowing, but suspiciously vague review on Goodreads from Ruby, too, and her recent video of her pretending to read it show that the times she marked it finished don't add up, since she's still reading it in her video footage long after that time.
That alone looks suspect, but consider this: Jack and Ruby both coincidentally posted overwhelmingly positive, incredibly vague reviews on the exact same day (December 29th), one hour apart, even though they'd both been in possession of the book since the book launch on December 8th. Neither of them declare their links to Vee or their shared management situation in their reviews, which they absolutely should have done.
I highly suspect that Sixteenth, their shared management company, have cracked the whip to get all their talent promoting Vee's flagging book. Jack and Ruby are two of the most followed people on Goodreads, so they had them write positive reviews which hid their ties to Vee. Holly Gabrielle has also been waving the book around on-screen in some of her most recent videos.
Jade likely didn't need the assist, as she had a big studytube fanbase already buying and reviewing the book (even though that didn't help the book's sales beyond the first week or two). By comparison, Vee has a much smaller following and it appears that nobody is reviewing, and presumably not buying the book even in the first weeks of release. She has 10 reviews on Goodreads, and two are from people repped by the same agency. Others may be friends of Vee.
All told, this is shady as fuck, and doesn't paint anyone involved in a good light.
I imagine he was invited to do the interview because of his ‘influencer’ status. It would be more authentic if they interviewed someone who had overcome adversity. Jack seems to think that attending a state school places him at a disadvantage, but state schools in affluent areas tend to have good exam results. Frankly, more than 90% of people attend state schools and other people don’t tend to go on about it. I feel it is virtue signalling rather than a genuine desire to use his platform to highlight social justice issues.

He seems to very conveniently be ignoring that his entire brand exists exclusively in the StudyTube/BookTube sphere, where, yes, influencers who read more are routinely deemed more impressive to impressionable fans.
Lying about reading books might not earn him any clout in wider influencer circles, but in the narrow content pond he exists in, where his fanbase is almost exclusively readers, that's absolutely the intention.
This defensive post of his might ring truer if he didn't proclaim himself to be "YouTube's Resident Librarian" in his Twitter bio. Dude knows exactly the kind of clout he's chasing (his entire brand is based around reading more than other people) and this is just selective ignorance.
He'd have been smarter just to keep his mouth shut about it, this only confirms even more that he lies about the extent to which he reads.

Yeah, I can't see the sense of it in any way.
If you don't want to spend money on furniture and have to lug it between AirBNBs all year, then don't buy any furniture at all? Wasting money on flimsy crap that looks like shit and isn't fit for purpose and that'll get tossed away in a week doesn't help in any way.
If you're going to buy temporary furniture and leave it behind when you leave, why not spend a couple of quid more and get a durable metal one that looks a lot nicer and won't collapse if someone sneezes a few streets away? Then if you don't want to take it with you, you can leave it for the next tenants to use and enjoy and it's not a huge waste of plastic.
If your "digital nomad lifestyle" prevents you from living the way you want to live and owning furniture and lots of possessions, that's probably a major sign that: A. This was a mistake, or B. You probably shouldn't be buying and keeping stacks and stacks of physical books that you don't read (or if you do read, will likely never read again) that require additional furniture and have to be lugged around the country all year with you.
This is stupid and wasteful any way it's painted.
Because their management teams want more revenue streams, regardless of quality.
In true influencer novel style, this will be a ghostwritten vanity project about a young YouTuber named J. Ack E'Dwards who embarks on a coming-of-age adventure of self-discovery and empowerment after being rejected by Oxford University.
Jack will just chime in with occasional notes for the actual writer of this loosely biographical wish fulfilment fantasy story.
Notes like:
"Have you mentioned how I was rejected by Oxford Uni a hundred times this chapter? Well...mention it, but in a passive-aggressive, self-deprecating way that shows that I was rejected, but I'm not bothered by it, even though deep down I am bothered by it? That shows that the character - me - has layers."
"Can we have a scene at the end where Oxford University learns the error of their ways at the end and begs me to enrol? But then I reject them? This will be a big character moment because it will show that I've moved on and don't need them to define me anymore. But still make sure my character keeps mentioning how he was rejected by Oxford Uni for the rest of the novel - that's his defining character trait."
"Can we have a final scene where Oxford University is struck by lightning at the end and completely burns to the ground? That will be a karmic payoff for me--I mean, the reader. Because I'm completely over it and have moved on, obvs, but the reader will probably want the villain of the story to get their comeuppance on my behalf, y'know?"
"Can we call the book 'Oxford University? More Like, "Oxford, U-Need-Me-Versity": The Jack Edwards Story'? That's the kind of wordplay that the English Lit scholars will really appreciate."
