Just wanted to say that "The Golden Rule" by Amanda Craig - who got a lot of abuse last year for standing with JK Rowling - is 99p on Kindle today. in case anyone wanted to pick it up! I have, looking forward to reading it

I have finally finished the first book in the Strike series,The Cuckoo's Calling. I loved it! I'm looking forward to reading the next one. I have noticed there are 3 series of 'Strike' on Britbox, a tv adaptation. I'm going to watch the first one as that's what I have just read. Has anyone seen this series?

Yes, I love the tv series. Tom Burke is great. Doesn’t look anything like Strike is described in the books but he nails it. Really looking forward to no.4

I’m slowly working my way through the first book (school holidays meant I had no uninterrupted time whatsoever for reading) and didn’t know the TV series was on Britbox, thanks!

I have just finished the third book and can't wait to start the 4th. Haven't watched the series yet. Not sure where to get it

I haven't read the series yet (I own them though! So I really should!). But I really liked the tv series too. Well cast and well-made.

How are her other books compared to Harry Potter in the sense that I enjoyed HP because it was an ‘easy’ book to read, I found very engaging mostly because growing up and into my 20s I was around a lot of people who read classics and ‘best book ever written’ (such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, On The Road, etc) and I hate to say it but I found them difficult reads or I was let down by them because they were quite overhyped over the years.

The Strike books are excellent! The writing style is very similar to HP and there’s the same layering of stories and hidden clues that she’s so good at. Just obviously a very different subject. And more likeable protagonists!!

From the first book it's clear JKR has a skill for description, you can really imagine the scene, the mood etc. I have also listened to The Casual Vacancy on Audible, that's good too but I have enjoyed the Strike book more as crime/intrigue is more interesting.

Right then, I'll watch Series 1 this week.

I looked the other day and course only see the most recent series on there, so only season 4 not 1-3
Britbox seems to have 1-3 but not 4, iplayer only has 4 but it expires soon I don't want to spoil the plots for the rest of the books yet so I'll watch them after each book and hope by the time I'm done with book 4 that the series will appear on Britbox. I have a subscription for Britbox though.

I have just to checked Amazon and they are on there to buy

Well - she's trending tonight

Yeah... the 'ooh evil billionaire ooh hiss' doesn't work when you've done as much charity work to help people as Rowling has.

Well... maybe you should investigate before jumping onto a bandwagon

If I was JK I would have asked for a clearer apology because it does look like Juan Mac is alluding to retweeting JK’s actual words.

The TRAs are really losing their shit over this. "She threatened a working class queer for simply quoting her words". It is mind boggling. The worst thing is, they think that the porn tweeted by trans activists on a tweet for kids is not the issue but that the issue is JK Rowling not responding to said porn and giving it more traction. The mental gymnastics are unreal
