@SusanC thank you for these words, it has made me realise that I put my ex (very recent split, he had narc tendencies & was abusive) before myself, I of course still had/have my friends and family, but I put his needs and the relationship before myself, probably one of the reasons I'm suffering so much atm. So thank you for giving me a good reminderI just want to say I noticed that and thought it too. I don't have kids and I loved my husband and my grief at his passing was debilitating.
But he was not 'the centre of my orbit', we orbited together in a much bigger world. His friends still look out for me, my friends became his friends and they still grieve his loss.

We don’t wish Alice harm, it’s in everyone’s best interest that she has a happy and productive life, especially her own. Many people here, and we know she visits, have given good practical and sympathetic advice on things she could do. People in other forums have done the same. He betrayed her. He thought she would roll over, be quiet and take whatever he was willing to hand her. She didn’t roll over, she roared. Ask yourself this:, any of you been cheated on, or watched someone else try to recover from a gut punch like that? No mere mortal could do that gracefully. Men want us silent. Alice ain’t silent, she doesn’t do silence, and more power to her.
100%! and it’s not cheesy at all, love is not possession or entitlement, you can grieve your loved one no longer loving you but you always want them to be happy and you always let go, even during the relationship - you just dont hold on, they should stay on their own free will! And this is something Alice never understoodYou’re missing out quite large parts of the one sided story and also romantisising a lot to excuse hideous behaviour. We’ve all had our hearts broken, we don’t act like 3 year olds about it and destroy family relationships over it. How does that even help anything? Just to feel like you’re in the right? All you end up is like “Miss Havisham” going mad in the attic on your own. I have sympathy for people with heartbreak and it needs to be felt and acknowledged but not used as a means to burn every bridge and destroy many other relationships. It’s cheesy but if you love someone and they want to go, you let them go. For everyone’s sake.
