Thing is though, you're meant to be/want to be a professional. You're never going to work on projects all the time that you have knowledge of. It's their job to research.

Craig really ballsed it up this week. Who was his telly friend in his reel? Recognised her but couldn't place her!

Agree men got the better shop to design for but the girls didnt even jazz up the changing room, they couldve went to town there and it was generic and boring
I could have sworn they were going to use wallpaper in the changing rooms - did I miss it or am I imagining I heard that?

I feel like the final episode was lacking? Previous finales you’ve seen more of the designer and their chosen friend to help them but this one there wasn’t much of that.

Rita without her specs and with a fringe is the double of Katy Perry.

Agree with Mark about the white walls. I don't find them cold or grey when it isn't sunny.

I really liked John and was rooting for him so pleasantly surprised by the final win. From the start the judges seemed really biased towards Rita and I thought it was a done deal that she would win. I mean, they even liked the atrocious orange hallway. Craig got increasingly arrogant throughout the series so I am glad he got the boot after that awful bar, though Ritas didn't make sense to me-the judges said everyone would have the best seat but it looked to me that no one would be able to see the stage easily and the fixed chairs couldn't even be turned. The red seemed a bit seedy.

The contractors really are the stars of the show though. They get given rough sketches and vague ideas and yet they get it done. (I presume they are also the ones making sure that everything is up to code/standard cos none of the designers think about that)

It's interesting googling the places afterwards to see if they kept the designs. I always think about how the designs will wear over time and how easy they will be to clean, like the rugs on Ritas bar seemed they would get disgusting quite quickly and the beige painted floor in the shop seemed a terrible idea for longevity.

I feel for John with his JL collab- it's so clear that JL had a fixed range of products that he put his name to. I mean candles, really? It's a pity he couldn't do up another place. Hopefully it's still a good launchpad for him and his career. I really wonder what his pupils think of all this haha 😆

I have to say that I disagree with who left and who won! I think the paper shop looked far too twee and childish and parts of it felt unfinished. I really liked what the ladies did and I feel that Michelle overlooked how Brioney also changed the changing room area and advertised the bra fitting service. I think Rita went through based on her work in previous weeks more so than what she did this week.
My pick would have been Craig and John on the sofa and having John go.

I don't think it's so surprising John has made it this far. His designs have always been solid to strong, with great ideas and very professional, practical and business focused. Rather than indulging in crazy ideas or ensuring his own style was in there.

His time keeping has always been his issue, which, in theory can be learned. Good design, not so much

I actually liked Teo’s hut - it was a bit minimal but some of the others were so full of clutter you wouldn’t be able to move without knocking something over.

A hotel room needs to be comfy, practical and easy to clean. I want a big bed, a seating area to have a drink, somewhere to hide my case/bag and a bedside table that fits a bottle of water, a book and has a phone charging plug. I do not want papier mache or dried flowers.
Id be sneezing my head off with the dust!

I think the same of the beach huts this year too. I'm sure in previous series they had to consider storage of things like swimming equipment, floats and stuff. This year, apart from the underfloor one that wasn't really talked about either.
It's the practical elements that make a difference between decorating and design and they seem to be less important in this series so far.

This show annoys me, in the same way bake off does, that they clearly just don’t give enough time for ‘entertainment factor’ but it’s actually just annoying to watch 😂

I did prefer Sophie's, but can see why they chose Lia on the overall look. Neither were anything special. Hopefully some changes will be made next series!

I guess at least they've taken the dreadful "leaves" off it, and changed the window display a bit

And it looks like the guitar shop is basically the same, except it now sells bikes too.
