The hotel week ones annoy me as someone who used to work in a hotel. There's way too much stuff like Nik naks, cushions and hard to clean things that make these rooms a nightmare for housekeeping. I imagine alot of changes are made to all these rooms after the show.

agree with this. A hotel room doesnt need to be filled with stuff.. They need to be functional and the contestants start adding in all sorts of shite to "pretty their design up"... when in reality. Nik naks do not belong inside a hotel bedroom. Its like no one has ever stayed in a hotel room before.

£1100 for a tiny box like that the cinema room and stuff confuse me but I am antisocial and the thought of socialising with my neighbours, because that's surely how it will end up, horrifies me

I'm confused as to if they were meant to be designing it as if they were renting it? Because surely all that drilling and painting isn't allowed.

I was also confused this episode with the pushing of Duran - she was so awkward with everyone. Her squiggles and pastel colours are also always so samey.

I'm actually genuinely impressed by emmelys growth. once she let go of the Papier mache she became much....better. her artwork was a bit blah but it definitely worked for that generic modern feel.

Michelle doesn't seem that impressed with the designers she has been given either haha I can't believe ajeet was on the sofa though I just like him and he comes across professional I'm shocked and angry how can someone who has been on the sofa three times and showing such an attitude go through...

I thought the guitar shop fitted the brief exactly. I know they wang on about giving the client what they need rather than exactly what they want but that's rather patronising. Obviously clients are paying for ideas and expertise but guitar guy knew exactly what he wanted and made it clear. Also, anyone who plays guitar at a reasonable level knows exactly what they want and what they are looking at. The tree was an abomination.

Yeah and the guitar guy obviously knows far more about selling guitars and what works than Michelle. Anyone going in not knowing about guitars e.g buying a present are going to get the info they need from the owner, that's the whole point of his shop.

I'm probably being unfair, but other than painting a bit of the bed blue, what else did Craig do in the final, other than keep trying to be a presenter?

Michelle was saying that it needed to follow the brief about being a place for the dogs to learn in a hoke environment and so she thought that Victoria’s, which was a corporate sitting room, was great? You had to think about how dogs behave and so Bryony’s fabric drapes and pots everywhere was also ok by Michelle? The lady keeps changing her mind!

I wasn’t a fan of the design but I think Craig hit the nail on the head along with Rita. And as much as Sue annoys me she did some valuable insight into dogs behaviour (such as the seat in front of the cage could be intimidating and the large stairs that the DT teacher designed). I’ve never had dogs, only cats so wouldn’t have thought like that personally.

I just don’t understand what I am seeing this season? It’s gotten noticeably worse as the episodes have gone on, but all the finished rooms are so, pedestrian?

They’re not innovative, but nor are they stylish? Everything is so simplistic, largely what they’re adding to rooms is just based on paint + wall decorations and that’s it. Where is the actual design? In previous series I found it 50/50 as to whether I’d like the final product as they were usually a LOT. Now they’re not doing much at all! And the lack of (and/or quality of) furniture is just making everything 10x worse.

I think it might be because of the prize. Next are going to want low cost, big impact 'pieces'. So the leopard print 70s vibe, and the massive florals and pink will be great

his designing the hebredies series was great! i like your home made perfect (maybe more architecture) and the george clarke ones, can't remember if it's old house new home type or amazing spaces that i've been watching recently. there's a segment where they go to the manufacturing facility of a certain furniture piece and then utilise it in the finished design, usually a period appropriate classic. i get a lot of interior design content from youtube now though!

I feel totally uninspired by tonight's offering, as I did last week too. Not very relatable to home decor, which I feel most viewers are interested in.

Me too. This series seems to have lost its way. I find the contestants pretty bland and the whole thing feels flat.

This is the first series of the show I’ve watched. My mum recommended it to me. I’m really enjoying it but I just can’t warm to Michelle at all. My partner works away in the week so I have lots of time in the evening for TV when my little ones are asleep! Does anyone have any recommendations of stand out series of this show that are worth the watch? I keep seeing comments about Banjo (may have spelt that wrong, sorry). Which series was he in? Thanks everyone X

Michelle has been better in other series’s. I’m not sure if she’s tired of the show, something going on behind the scenes, she’s not happy with the quality of contestants or if it’s a combination of all three.

I’m waaaay behind on this but need to express myself! I think I’m in the minority but I’m glad Domhnall went that week. His behaviour in the chat in the sofa was giving alarm bells and I do think the children’s chairs were his idea. He said he got them just in case the client wanted a children’s space which makes no sense because when the client briefed them beforehand she said she didn’t want children incorporated into the design.
Plus I was fed up of him using his shitty graphic designs all the time.
Have three episodes left!

Michelle is still annoying me. Her advice changed and she still can’t say successful.

Totally disagreed with the stand out space winners, and think it’s a travesty that John has got through when all he managed to do was make some fret work and a bit of engraved wood, and paint the inside of a pre-bought cabinet pink. Half of the stuff he had planned wasn’t finished yet again.

I personally hated the pink and green in the shop, I found it garish, and the only bits I thought were clever e.g. the origami window display and using the paper for the lampshades were done by Craig.

I do agree that the fabric in the women’s shop could have been a ‘moment’ and thought the white boucle would get dirty fairly quickly, but otherwise thought their space was spot on.

I love Mad Men and that mid century style but I thought Craig's was a bit chaotic this week. Too many ideas in one small space.

Brionys was good, but cramped. It didn't seem practical for a big group to be able to get around.

Johns was great, and would have been stunning if he had finished it. He's getting frustrating though, constantly not finishing. I really hope he pulls it out the bag next week.

Banjo is in series 3. I didn't know Banjo had started in this as I have been watching him on Scotland's home of the year and Designing the Hebrides.
I've gone back to watch series 3, such a big difference between the abilities then compared to this recent series.
