yeah same. She’s been a nightmare since this virus hit. I think she‘s from a rich family and quite clueless to how people are suffering, it all comes over as im still going to keep posting ads and aff links regardless of what people say. she clearly wanted to soften up her audience and make them feel like she had asked permission first.
its made me realise she’s pretty lazy as well, she’s done nothing different with her content which is a shame but shows which influencers cannot adapt and want the easy option of shilling over having to come up with non paid content.

I do. I know her whole family in fact (but I wouldn’t say we’re friends). Her Dad’s side of the family is quite rich, and most of them are really snobby. Her Mum is lovely, her half sister is nice but also thinks she’s something special (used to work at GLAMOUR, then Vogue, married to a rich man who is a broker in the city).
The job she had briefing journalists directly out of uni was at her Uncle’s company, so nepotism. His company is actually quite cool as they run the security side of things for journalists going into war zones and etc, and whilst she’s an intelligent girl, the Uncle connection swung it.
She’s lost touch with reality thanks to her boyfriend’s salary (£2m a year) and now her insta following. I find her account really bleeping dull.
wow that’s so useful to read. It explains a lot. she definitely doesn’t come across as someone that’s had a proper job or had to work hard at a career. Life is a lot easier when things are handed to you on a plate as she clearly has.
She tries to be relatable (like oh hun look at my topshop and zara haul) but she’s basically living with a millionaire!! Nothing relatable about that at all. It’s really pissed me off to see them bumming around their mansion whilst doing duck all. Al that money, they could really help people but have done nothing but complain.
that house in altrincham looks massive too. Bet it costs them 800k or possibly more. Would be interesting to know. I think youre right that she’s dull and this pandemic has really shown that she has no content outside hauls (like most influencer).
My daughter has unfollowed all influencers and stopped watching them on YouTube and Insta and now I have too. She said her friends are doing the same as they don't want the influencers to make money off them at this time and maybe into the future. She is so smart. If you don't watch them they won't make money. Simple!
I've UNFOLLOWED so many influencers on instagram and will be on youtube the latest video to wind me up is laura meacham organising kitchen video whete shes been ordered for weeks containers and actually almost threw a witch fit because eBay sent her ones with white lids rather than black! People are losing their lives and said 'problem' above is what influencers are worrying about... what a joke

Which I can easily pinpoint where to put many Youtubers especially

Influencers who discard their morals and lack empathy, rise fast
Back to the mugshot trend -- commenting its so fun to pretend to be arrrested when you're not at risk of being arrested --- forreal......the triggering element (especially during these covid-19 times when Dv is on a rise)

I really hope the murky world of Influencing is exposed and talked about as a result of all this, and that brands start to find a more relatable way to reach out with their products. Most of these influencers haven't got a clue. A backlash is needed.

Thanks for linking this and breaking it down, sounds very interesting, these points stood out to me particularly. I just watched the last epsjode of Tana mongeau’s MTV series- I didn’t think I could be any more disgusted by a youtubers bad behaviour and refusal to take responsibility for their actions than I have already been.... but if you want to be surprised by how awful someone can be, Tana is usually your go to girl.

I ended up unfollowing someone this week as she promoted iconic... I called her out on it and said I dont agree with it and your putting people at risk who still having to work and the postman having to deliver it. She said while she understood she had bills to pay and if I wanted to unfollow I could... so I did.

she is literally out and about everyday and posted a picture of her on insta whilst out (In london).. i am honestly shocked.. its one thing to flog tit off on your page constantly but at least they are staying home but this girl isn’t even following the rules and is deleting any comment that calls her out on it.
