I actually think that was one of the biggest problems with the referendum tbh. It was 4 different countries voting but because 1 country had the majority of the population the result was always going to be determined by them. Northern Ireland in particular had very good reason to stay in the EU but it felt like they were forgotten about until the vote passed and then everybody was like "oh, the border in Ireland".
