There’s also this:

EVER DIETED?
Better question: am I ever not on a diet? I am one of those people who can put on weight simply by looking at a Twix. In my job there’s the added danger of high definition, widescreen TV, so I have to be careful. Luckily, I have never been a big drinker so this calorific nightmare is avoided, but I eat sensibly and hit the gym.

His expression is hilarious. 😂

I really wish that this had always been just a random and fun thread about “Huw Edwards, the BBC news anchor” who we just happen to keep up with on Instagram and Twitter, and that there wasn’t any scandal attached. 🙁

Not excusing his behaviour, but he’s been on our screens for so long and a lot of people do have fond memories of seeing him almost every evening and his coverage of major events. I don’t live in Britain but have always watched BBC and those memories, including that feeling of fondness, is still quite hard to shake.

Huw would have been ideal to show us where the prostrate is.
‘And if you were wondering where the prostate gland is located’ before dropping his pants and baring all. It could have been like one of those health checks they do on This Morning or Lorraine.

That's the quickest and easiest way out. Depending on his contract he might get a payout, but he might not as well.
I hope he isn’t being paid out in the circumstances, but suspect he is getting something at least.

I don’t think he is the devil incarnate, I just don’t feel particularly sorry for him with everything considered or think he should receive any more public money.
---

He hasn't received a payout.
Do you have a source for this? The announcement he is quitting on medical advice doesn’t put it beyond doubt, these things are often negotiated.

Paging Mr. Coulson, clean up on aisle 3:

the daily Mail claims he has denied the allegations against him, but I didn’t think he had? It felt pretty pointed to me that he didn’t dent the allegations and certainly didn’t admit to them either. The only statement I’m aware of is the one realessed by his wife?

I think there was some type of talk that he was at the least very 'odd' and inappropriate in the way he texted / emailed colleagues. That whole line of discussion was then stopped when he went into medical treatment and the BBC said they're doing their own investigation. Expect to hear more of it when he resurfaces - unless the BBC want to keep it quiet themselves.
I understood that it was more overly friendly texts with “xx” and emojis added but not sure if we’d been told that the messages made the junior staff feel like they had “done something wrong”? Has that part come up before?
---
So Huw’s phone with all his private text messages was stolen last year?? 😱
My first thought too! I’ll bet that was a massive worry for him. There were likely a few very sensitive messages on there and maybe more peachy bum and even Biggus Dickus pics 👀

I wonder if he managed to get the haircut. It’s hard to tell.

In my opinion it all depends on how true all the allegations were (we’re talking The Sun here) and how much has come to light in the BBC’s own investigation. If it all turns out that Huw was treated massively unfairly and he’s losing his career and reputation over this, than I say “go right ahead and do what you have to to come out of this as best you can”. If it turns out Huw really was unethical and abused his powers etc, than I’d agree with you. But even so, there will always be a massive amount of spin from all sides. I’m fascinated by it.
This is essentially my take on it too.

I do think that if there isn’t evidence that Huw was soliciting people under 18, and they were consenting, then the Sun does have a lot to answer for. Because however morally unsavoury we personally may find it, it is really different to doing something that we as a society have deemed to be illegal.

I also don’t think he’s faking having a mental health crisis. However self inflicted people may feel this is, I can imagine it has absolutely destroyed Huw.

I also do feel that as a society we should have a wider conversation about sex work and about websites like Porn Hub and Only Fans. It’s sort of socially accepted that people are okay with people using Porn Hub, despite the fact it’s filled with videos of rape and where performers aren’t paid. In contract Only Fans, performers have control over their content and are directly paid. Yet we deem that as less appropriate? Considering it’s mainly woman, I can’t help but wonder if it isn’t saying something bigger that as a society we’re happier with women being abused on sites like Porn Hub and then we are accepting that people want to access porn and making it socially okay to be on places like Only Fans…

Anyway I’ve really digressed 😂🙈 I just find the whole thing very interesting. This episode definitely brought up a lot of questions for me.

I suppose the "medical advice" card doesn't really mean much these days? It's not a "sad" end...There's no tragedy. He got caught out and should have resigned there and then. Done the decent thing but these arrogant people never do.

They can't sack him as they can't investigate him while he's saying he has mental health problems so he'll carry on being the highest earner at the BBC until 2026 when his contract ends!
They simply shouldn't have ever been paying so much for a man to read an autocue. Hopefully they've learnt and future newsreaders will be paid more sensible amounts.

It makes you wonder because if everything that is claimed is true (the messaging, the payments, the photo, the meet-ups, etc), in what universe did he think that would remain private?
Exactly. For an obviously intelligent man, it’s nuts. It’s almost like it was self-sabotage in a way, because it was inevitable that it would be leaked one way or another. Someone suggested that it might have been arrogance but surely he’d still have had some awareness of what could happen? And showing his face and arse in the same pic and then (allegedly) sitting in his underwear on a video chat..I mean really??

We shouldn't pretend that homophobia doesn't exist and it's that which probably caused the deceit in both cases
I don't see how homophobia played any part in him contacting a woman who'd complained and he still persisted!

I was thinking about this yesterday. Why the BBC are still quiet I really don’t know but I can imagine that from Huw’s pov, he needs to have a few things in order before it makes sense to break his silence (if he’s still interested in being a public person):

- his employment situation with the BBC needs to be resolved. He needs to be either in or out and not somewhere in between waiting on what will happen with that. So he needs to be fired or reinstated or have a different role or retire. Just something definitive.

- he’s got some ‘splaining to do. Is he ready for that? Is he ready for the barrage of tabloids tearing him to pieces again?

- if no more BBC, he needs to know what’s next for him. Is he going to write a book? Is he “taking time out to work on himself?”. Is he getting divorced? Is he starting a B&B in the French countryside? Is he going to walk the Welsh coastal path? Just anything that he can talk about.

I would think that these are the minimum requirements for a confessional piece to make sense, even if it’s done in the most sensitive way.

As a side note, I’ve also wondered for weeks now if AC would want to hold off until the Christmas period to catch people when they are perhaps in a bit more charitable spirit but I don’t know whether that’s just a Hallmark fantasy or not.
IMO He doesn’t need to explain anything to anyone. I think he may work again but for a Welsh TV channel thaughty nothing heavy walking the Welsh coastal path has been done to death but I agree something similar.
Maybe people in Wales are more forgiving?

He’s probably going to make and sell prints and casts of his bottom. It’s arguably the most famous backside in the U.K. after all
Hardly that he wasn’t the first and certainly isn’t the last 😂

If he wanted to do that privately and covertly that was also his prerogative - but it would also mean that choice would be incompatible with his chosen profession.
Having a private life where you may be coming to terms with your sexuality is not incompatible with being a journalist in my opinion

He is not flaunting his family life in some fly on the wall tv show or all over IG as some do (looking at Schofe here) whatever agreement he had with his wife was not incompatible with reading the news

Honestly, I reckon a CCB or IAC stint would really help his image. I know it could go badly but he seems basically a nice guy and it would be good to hear his side of the story.
You know he’d be naked in that waterfall, bum on full display just like Farage was.

ChatGPT App being very creative 😂😂:

Once upon a time, in the bustling city of Cardiff, there lived a man named Huw Edwards. He was well-known not only for his charming personality but also for his distinctive, impeccably coiffed haircut. Huw was a respected news anchor, and his hair had become something of a legend in the world of television journalism.

One sunny morning, as Huw was preparing for a live broadcast, disaster struck. His trusted hairdresser, Gareth, had fallen ill and couldn't make it to the studio. Panic set in as Huw's hair was far from camera-ready, and he was scheduled to go on air in just a few hours.

Desperate to find a solution, Huw decided to take matters into his own hands. He dashed to the nearest salon, where the startled staff handed him a pair of scissors and a mirror. With a deep breath and steady hands, Huw began to trim his hair.

As minutes turned into hours, Huw's determination and newfound hairstyling skills began to show. He meticulously snipped and shaped, making sure every strand was just right. The newsroom buzzed with anticipation as the clock ticked closer to the live broadcast.

Finally, with a sigh of relief and a final spritz of hairspray, Huw gazed at his reflection. To his astonishment, he had managed to recreate his signature haircut almost perfectly. The news anchor was ready for the world to see.

As he went live, viewers across the nation marveled at the flawless haircut that Huw Edwards had given himself. They couldn't believe their eyes; it was as if his hair had a magical power of its own. The broadcast went off without a hitch, and Huw's hair became the talk of the town.

From that day forward, Huw Edwards was not only admired for his journalism but also for his incredible hairstyling skills. He became a symbol of resilience and adaptability, proving that even in the face of adversity, he could always look his best.

And so, the legend of Huw Edwards and his remarkable self-styled haircut continued to captivate the hearts of viewers, reminding them that sometimes, even the most unexpected challenges can lead to incredible transformations
