These kids are gonna grow up to have serious issues with identity and relating to their peers and/or resenting her. Hopefully when the camera isn't on they get to play and wear age appropriate clothes but I dunno. Still bizarre that she involves them so much in this fake life for instagram likes from adults who don't even know them.

Bizarre on lots of levels. Firstly I can be bothered with all that ironing for myself never mind children's clothes 😂Secondly my little girl learned about internet safety at school and even opts out of videos at school sometimes if she thinks its too embarrassing to be on internet. She is only in year 2 but is very clear about which images we are allowed to share with relatives too. It strikes me from the amount of influencers milking their kids on the gram that they must not be having similar conversations with their children. I think I read on the RVK thread too how someone was able to recognise the children of an influencer whilst on holiday overseas and just from following the influencer she knew where the children lived. That is scary stuff!

I unfollowed her this morning and the constant ads are annoying me! And she’s unfollowed me so she clearly checks who unfollowers her. Ad ad ad was doing my head in
Niki is doing a fairfax and favor giveaway now - she really is trying so hard to be Lauren.

Yep, we do online safety classes in our school from Reception in various guises. So at school they will be being educated about all the dangers and then at home being made to pose for Mummys instagram account.

That’s actually new ASA guidelines apparently! It sounds pretentious but it’s just the new rules
Do you have a link for that, Emma? As it certainly hasn’t been widely publicised.

When did journalism become so disrespected and undervalued that a woman sitting at her kitchen table uploading photos to social media receives public relations samples?(‘PR samples’ that are guaranteed to only receive a favourable review. 🙄)

I don’t get it either. They are not twins, why make them identical?

Is it because it is considered my photogenic / aesthically pleasing than figuring out two different outfits? I’m not a parent so don’t know why you would do this, but it looks mad!

That other lame brain All That’s Pretty does the same.
I wonder does she let them wear normal clothes when not on instagram...

I wonder what Col really thinks about all this. Maybe he’s just got swept away with it all and all he can see now are the freebies. Marriage must be very difficult if you’re constantly having to be on show for the perfect picture.

100% this! We do so much work talking to children about their online footprint and what you choose to share. They haven’t been given a choice. Can you imagine that IT lesson ‘my mummy has splashed me all over the internet since before I was born!’

will try and find the thing I read on it it was on a link someone posted! Think it’s the case of if marked as gifted it should be a true gift and not required to post about it in any sense, whereas a pr sample is more where it’s been sent on the basis the person will post about it!

The parks closed in March- correct. But normal
Play areas have re-opened and she has intentionally waited to find a tree swing, rather take the boys to their local park to play without being filmed or photographed.

Yes please do share a link as my understanding was that it all came from that annoying self righteous ‘influenced guru’ who’s name I have forgotten. I have had a quick google and can’t see anything to say the rules have changed...

The one with the appalling dress sense? Anna Eleri Hart?

Traditionally PR samples were borrowed for use in editorials and/or review then returned to the company, except for consumable items like cosmetics.

Apparently now everything from a loan car to free food are ‘PR samples’.

Haha no but she is annoying too. I’ve remembered it now Vix Meldrew!

Yes, it does look like this is a Vix Meldrew campaign. ‘Press trip’, ‘press event’ and ‘PR sample’ are not an ASA initiative.

Vix does make one good point: that ‘AD’ must appear at the beginning of the text or prominently on the screen of stories, then it can be followed by the waffly description of your choice.

Our Lau doesn’t consistently put AD at the beginning of her ads. And I’ve just noticed Melissa/Backofthewardrobe70 hasn’t been upfront in declaring her John Lewis advertisement.

The ASA must be so bored of receiving complaints and having to contact influencers to tell them: THE ‘AD’ CAN’T BE HIDDEN.

As much as I hate them and think they are grabby, talentless nobodies, ‘influencers’ are the ‘new’ press. They are part of this new, massive and VERY profitable digital marketing industry that has sprung up thanks to social media. They have a reach, an audience very willing to be sold to and so even though they (mostly) aren’t trained journalists or have any background in PR or marketing, the tag is apt for them. As trumped up and nauseating as it is.

I understand your argument, @GossipMongoose, but I’m not sure I’d label influencers ‘the new press’. The phrase ‘the press’ very much still has print media connotations and the press usually, but not always, publishes information that is researched, factually correct, independent and professional.

Influencers sit more under the umbrella of advertising. Labelling the drivel of many influencers as ‘press’ devalues properly investigated and well written articles. Influencer’s opinions are rarely independent either as they are selling goods and services.

It is so depressing that we will end up with no independent press if we don’t insist influencers are just the latest iteration of the Avon Lady.

Jesus women make your kid a god dam chocolate cake!! What 5yr old boy wants pretty lemon cake with jam and fruit in 🥴 they’ll be wearing matching clothes and shoes for the photos later. I would definitely be that family member who rocks up with clashing bright garish colours and hand out ridiculous noisy ugly toys for the kids and I would make sure I’m in every nice tranquil picturesque photos of hers 🤣
