I feel you with regards to the DLA claim situation. Currently in the process of filling it in for my autistic child after putting it off for the longest time; it is a beast of a form. I’m finding it difficult because I downplay a lot of my son’s challenges, because I’m used to them being with him all the time. You really have to describe your child’s worst day and that itself takes a toll. It would help out so much but a huge part of me believes it’s going to be rejected (bit of a pessimist).😕
I used to assess DLA forms, it's been over 10 years so I'm sure a lot has changed but we used to tell parents to keep a diary for a couple of weeks/ month and make a note of all behaviours/ everything you do for your child to give the most accurate picture rather than just answer the questions on the forms. Things you take for granted that you do will be more recognisable then. Good luck x

Secondary Teacher £38k, rising to £41k next year and then I'll be at the top of the salary scale no more increments after that unless I get promoted. I also mark for exam board which is another £3k ish.

How do you get into this? I could definitely do it.

I’m 24. Primary teacher in the Liverpool area. Working with SEN and loving it. Before tax I’m on about £28k - not sure on monthly take home as only got moved up the pay scale this month so back pay is affecting it.

I'm in Scotland and you just apply direct to the exam board, but you have to have a few years experience of and be currently teaching the subject at the level you are marking - primary teachers wouldn't be able to mark here as they aren't subject specialists (no disrespect intended - that's just how it works!) No idea how it works in England sorry! It's certainly a nice little top up earner if you can get into it though :) x

Oh dang! Never mind! 😂

This is a lot for a ta. The PRU I work in pay around that much but that’s with a few allowances for the environment you work in.
Friends that are TA’s are usually on around £10k as it’s paid term time only. I’m not saying that’s right as most jobs in education severely underpaid.
Yes I think it’s the full time equivalent according to the pay scale.
mine won’t be that high ...between 12-13k per annum. New job which I start after Xmas.

Sweet FA, SAHM with 2 autistic children. Don't claim dla for them, even though I really should as would help massively. I just can't get my head around the paperwork. Husband earns about 26k before tax. Lab technician. Suffolk area. Don't get an allowance from the hubby, he just pays for everything. No joint account either.

There's usually someone at the drs who can help with the forms . My mum was to proud to claim when she became to poorly to work. Took a lot of convincing to claim and someone helped her throughout.

I am an Etsy seller & have a YouTube channel which I made to “run along beside” it, which grew much more than I ever expected. I earned 8K profit on Etsy this year and just shy of 50K via Adsense after taxes/YouTube cuts etc.

That’s great! Did you make a channel about your Etsy crafts and techniques if you don’t mind me asking? Or more mainstream?

I'm a band 5 nurse in a medical ward, with shift allowance, my pay this month was £2016, I work 34.5hrs a week (£30,742 a year when at the top of my pay scale). I would happily work from home for less money 😂. Starting a new post on the 30th so will lose my shift allowance as will be Monday to Friday

I intended on making a channel on behind the scenes with Etsy, etc. but I got more positive feedback from showing people how to make the kind of stuff I sold!! so.. I’ve morphed into more of a diy tutorial channel over the last year and that’s seen me grow to almost 100K. Not really “mainstream” as I keep my personal self out of it except for the occasional house tour/haul! Never set out for it to be what it is but, I feel incredibly grateful as I’m no where near as skilled or qualified as everyone on this thread. 🤣🥰
