I work 8 hours a week and earn £7k a year, I like being home to do the school run and be around in school holidays if I worked more we would have to pay more in childcare, my husband works from home when I work in the holidays juggling those 8 hours can be a nightmare.

Emergency Medicine Registrar. € 85k a year. Worked during college since I was 18 doing loads of various things from working in medical records one week and phlebotomy the next. Aids me now as I know most of the staff in every department! Most weeks it's 65 hours.

£18500 police office staff, 27 days holiday, bank holidays off, overtime available if there is work. Left uni 2 years ago.

I'll be on this for the next 1-2 years, after that I am hoping to try and move up. Ideally I would like to be on £25,000-£30,00o, however I've found the pay quite low in the police therefore this may take a while. I do have a uni degree that I don't need for the role so I do wonder sometimes if it was worth going but I am hoping it will increase my chances of career progression.
Intrigued as you say police office staff… I looked at jobs for police as admin and couldn’t find anything… pay is shockingly low.. is it a stressful job ?

£48k a year in data analysis, hubs makes £72k , we’re both 32. It was a slog to get to this point and 5 years ago couldn’t have dreamed of such money but it’s all relative tbh, don’t feel much richer day to day, just more secure. Got a mortgage now and paid off cars, healthy savings. If we have a baby I’d like to drop down to 3 days a week.

I’m a team manager of a care service, with vulnerable adults. Working full time at 37 hours per week for £27,000 a year. Get additional payments for being on call, albeit they are low amounts.

Im a Health care assistant , I work in a GP surgery . I'm a trained phlebotomist among many other things , I get an amazing £10 an hour 😅 😶😞 which is pretty darn tit. Hoping to do a nursing apprenticeship one day . I could get £12 / 13 an hour in McDonald's though .

Band 4 NHS. 34.5 hours £24.5k plus maybe £1k in enhancements a year.

Some of these salaries are amazing. To be honest we are childfree and have a low mortgage so I manage but wow.

31k, London. I work in digital marketing and communications for a charity / not for profit. I am aware I could get a bit more money in other companies but I feel like it is a trade off for me. The hours and benefits are good and the culture is really nice. 35 days paid holiday (Inc. Bank holidays), relaxed office culture, money put aside for learning and development etc, not that stressful.

Communications and PR for a local authority and I earn £31k. I’ve worked here for seven and a half years now in a few different roles and I’m currently on a temporary promotion that’s due to end in March. I’ll go back to around £26k if my promotion isn’t extended and I’m actually really worried about it. I’d quite like a change but not really finding anything that pays similar without going in to management and I have no management experience. Feeling a bit stuck really.

I earn 27k working for an insurance company. I would love to earn more but anxiety and imposter syndrome holds me back 😅

Does anyone here work in payroll? I have been offered a position to transfer from my current department and unsure of whether to take the jump.

I do, yesss! Will it be doing internal payroll for your company, or do you work for a payroll provider? If internal, does your company use a payroll provider (eg an accounting firm or specialist company such as ADP?)

I work for an employer of record so do a mix of internal and external payroll.

49K - following many years at university.

My friend is on 100K + and never went to university.

I always say to people: uni isn't the be all and end all.

Often wonder why I bloody bothered. I have no chance of progressing much more into a significantly higher paid role.

Single parent and would like more money coming in.

Agree it’s not the be all and end all in terms of employment but my social life was unmatched at uni, I feel sorry for those that didn’t get to experience that time!

I didn’t go to uni and I don’t need anyone to feel sorry for me. I had and still have a fantastic social life
