Thanks I'll have a look. I did read about this when I quickly Googled it last night but someone with the same layover time for told to do it themselves rather than go through the airport one but I'll have a look.

I think I do remember seeing that you couldn’t leave part way through so if you wanted to stop somewhere for food you might be best off DIYing it. I remember getting the visitor visa thing in order to leave the airport was really straightforward (just filled out a form on a iPad in the airport) so reckon you’ll be fine with 7 hours to see MBS and get some dinner
Do airlines usually allow you to update your passport number/info for free? I need to book internal flights for my trip but to book them I need to put my passport information in but I'll need a new passport before I leave. Just can't get one yet as I have one more trip before I'll need the new passport
We have decided to stay in Sliema based on its proximity to the ferries and good transport links. Hotel prices were ridiculously expensive compared with other areas though and the one we had our eye on was booked up till November. We could have gone elsewhere but being able to get around is important to us. So we've compromised and ended up with a traditional Maltese Airbnb (self catering, no pool or facilities but in Sliema) and for the whole holiday including flights cost less than it would have cost for one of us in a hotel!
Thinking of doing a Fjords cruise, can anyone recommend any must visit places or experiences please?

We did Airbnb in Sliema, nice spot. Ferry from there straight across to Valletta, 10 minutes.
I did Royal Carribean Norway Fjords cruise in July last year from Southampton.
It covered four ports - Stavanger, Flåm, Alesund and Bergen. Flåm was outstanding, fairy-tale like, with an awesome railway sightseeing journey.
Stavanger was good just to get the scenic boat trip to and Preikesto and Lysefjord.
The other two were ‘meh’. Only worth it to get off the ship and have a walk around. Funicular train thingy at Bergen was ok.
Our ship (Anthem of the Seas) was nice for the purpose, big, lots going on, and we were a big party (around 25 of us), with a handful of kids and older teens. There was enough going on to occupy everyone. Food really nice, service was good too.
We personally won’t sail RC again, not that there was anything wrong with it, but we mostly cruise as just a couple. We are middle aged with with no kids, so other cruise lines are much better suited to us. We don’t need water slides, skydiving, observation capsules, etc.
Re: itinerary, we’d have had a whale of a time just staying in Flåm for three nights. That place is really special. Book the Flåm railway direct, as cruise lines charge rip off prices.
Sort of travel related question, I’m hoping to head to Tromsø in Feb/march for a northern lights hunt (not guaranteed but I love Norway so won’t be a wasted trip regardless)
My question is, where do I get a good quality coat that keeps you super warm without breaking the bank
I don’t think my superdry one will help me in Norwegian temps - it only just manages UK winters 
I’m planning on getting a lot of thermal under layers from Uniqlo but a cosy coat for the lights tours is a must.

I have a uniqlo coat, the long down one and find it very warm. thermal base layers and socks and gloves from M&S and a couple of fleece tops and a wonderful faux fur hat from an outdoor shop and i was as toasty as toast!

Bit of a curveball here, and it depends on how much you want the cruise experience, but for my 40th we did the Hurtigruten BKB voyage which is a 12 night voyage on the Norwegian postal ships from Bergen to Kirkenes and back. You visit multiple ports a day, some for 10 minutes and some for a couple of hours. Main ports are Alesund, Trondhiem, Bodo, Tromso, Honningsvag, Hammer fest, Kirkenes, the Lofoton islands, Bronnoysund and Krustiansund.
It's not a cruise in the traditional sense, they give talks about the local culture and there's crossing the arctic circle ceremonies but there's no "entertainment" The entertainment is the amazing scenery plus we spent a lot of time crafting, reading and relaxing. The food is amazing but very Norwegian! We went in winter and saw the Northern lights 7 out of 12 nights, went dogsledding over a frozen fjord in Kirkenes and horseriding under the Northern lights on the Lofoten islands.
It's quite pricey but they do occasionally do a charter flights from a UK airport as a package deal which is what we did and it was very affordable, or you can just do it one way (North is better than South because there are more longer stops in ports). It is one of the best things I've ever done.
I've also done a fjord cruise (Alesund, Flam, Geiranger and Bergen) loved all the ports but we were very lucky to have amazing weather. It was a bit of a trek getting there as it involved 2 days at sea and I'd have liked more ports.
I'm flying with Lufthansa which is part of the Star alliance group (think thats the name). Does anyone know if I miss my connection (or my bag does) would they put me/bag onto another airlines flight within the same group e.g. Singapore airlines
I have a year travel insurance policy. I'm on a waiting list for a hospital referral so I have to let them know. Has anyone got insurance when waiting for a hospital referral? I'm hoping they'll still cover me as the referral is probably for nothing new. I have the issue on my travel insurance as years ago my doctor said it's probably this but didn't do any tests etc. I finally got fed up of it so went back. The current doctor did tests which were all normal and asked me I'd I still wanted to be referred which I said yes as I thought I might as well. Does it add a lot more cost on?
We are currently in Japan for three weeks (one more to go). What an amazing place. We have two nights at a ryokan at the moment, and it's wonderful to recharge from the business of Tokyo and Kyoto before diving back in.
We're supposed to be flying to Jamaica two weeks tomorrow. Keeping an eye on the news and really hoping the hurricane doesn't cause too much damage/chaos. Its a package booked with Tui so hopefully if we do need to change it they will be helpful. I just want some sunshine and to escape this dark miserable weather. Really glad we aren't there just now!
Booked Benidorm for November, staying in the old town. Is it as bad as it rep makes out or is the strip and general madness easy to avoid? Also what is there to do there?
Start looking now. It’s going to absolutely wipe the islands. Even of you could go, I wouldn’t. They will be busy cleaning up and rebuilding.
I don’t think anyone is going to be going to Jamaica on holiday any time soon
