We went here 12 years running pre-Covid!!! It’s fab for winter sun not too far away.
Sea breeze gets cool at night though.
It was so cheap when we first started going but got dearer over the years as it got more mainstream.
You have to learn to be polite but a firm no to the bumsters out and about if you aren’t interested. Don’t tell anyone it’s your first time there either or you’ll get ripped off.
also be mindful hat the hotels are not the same as European standards.
you will need anti malarial and if you take the cheaper ones doxycycline you will burn your nose and fingers! You can tell who takes them from the sunburnt extremities. Malarone is dearer but shorter course of tablets
I'm glad I read this I was going to get the Doxycycline but now I'll get the more expensive one
The NHS travel site states yellow fever vaccination and malaria for both Gambia and Senegal now so we had expected to have one. Thanks for the tips re the malaria tablets.
Weirdly, the RUI modern hotel is considerably less expensive than the more rustic, traditional hotel we have looked at, both in Senegal, though.
Edit, the rustic one has beachfront bungalows but only in February, when there's a school half term, that's a shame.

We would definitely try Senegal if Tui ever realise people live north of London and put a Manchester flight on
Anyone been on an escorted tour? We’re off to Jordan with Exodus travel, at the end of the month. We usually do our own thing but fancied having all the planning/ transport taken care of.
I went to Jordan on a group tour (a different company) it was good but it was a lot of traveling so not very relaxing. I've done others as well and going to do one next year. I'd love to do an exodus one but they always are so much more expensive than the other companies in assuming better accommodation and I'm not that bothered about that

I had paid £50 for a deposit on a tour with intrepid but had to cancel it but it's on my account to use whenever so I'll probably go on one of theirs nextWe booked v v last minute. We've just returned from an escorted, arranged trip through Imagine Cruising, covering China, Hong Kong, cruise to Singapore and then onto India. It was great having everything arranged, as they are not countries I'd want to explore independently. The continuous travel, just having 1, 2 or 3 nights in each place, was tiring. I would definitely do it again, though, and have my eye on a South America and Antarctica one.

We're in the Midlands, so Manchester wouldn't be any better, we just flew from Gatwick and the journey wasn't at all bad. Meet and greet parking at Sofitel and walked into departures. If we went to Senegal, it's a morning flight and the Premier Inn next door is £65.
We've got Heathrow in April, again, it's only a couple of hours, but you have to allow 4 or 5 in case of traffic
We did stay over there last year as we had a 7am flight, and we got a good parking and hotel deal.Oh yeah that seems good I think I paid around the same per person price but that includes my own room as I was going solo. I'd do the same with the flights I went with Turkish Airlines. I'm guessing you go Petra, wadi rum and the dead sea?
Yep. The highlights really. We’re there for a week. I’ve wanted to go to Petra since I saw Indiana Jones as a kid.

Petra was amazing we went to the Petra at night and then the next day went in the day. Got there for opening and I climbed straight up to the monastery and there was only about 4 others people up there which was nice. Then was able to spend the afternoon relaxing at the hotel pool. Wadi Rum was my least favourite well apart from Amman Colosseum

My brother and his wife have done a lot of trips with Exodus: they really rate them.
Would you consider Sri Lanka? The beach towns there are fab and you can fly direct from Heathrow
The flight is probably a bit too long for a two week trip as, you're looking at 11 hours. It's on my list of places to visit, we had a trip there cancelled in 2020
