It's heartbreaking and makes us doubt ourselves and feel guilty and miss them like crazy . Even though we know they are monsters and not what we thought they were .It's same for all of us with narcs in the family, isn't it? Not all memories are bad and they can occasionally resemble human beings. That's why it is so difficult to cut contact completely. And we desperately want to believe they could change and love us, even when it looks unlikely. It is super hard to accept that it will never happen.
Sameish situation here. My brother and I are at least united against our evil narc sister. Our mom was extremely neglectful and had a few narc tendencies. She (mum) can't understand why I won't eat the shit with a smile and let bygones be bygones. I told her the crimes were not mine and now that her kids are treating mine poorly that's a hard pass. Shit on me but don't hurt my child. I told her yesterday we were coming to visit for Spring break and she stirred the turds again. I told her the only thing my son learns if I play happy families is that it's OK if your family abuses you; just forgive, forget and move on. I refuse to have a relationship w people that treat my husband, child & dogs poorly unless they stop the abuse and acknowledge their dirty deeds. She wasn't very happy about it and absolutely cuts me off when she's not going to change my mind. I'm my father's daughter, sorry. Thanks Dad! I, like William, have one sibling. Like Harold, my sibling is spiteful, unpleasant and jealous. I haven't spoken to my sibling in 20 years due to her spouses narc ways causing a rift straight through our family.
My sibling told so many lies about me, including telling her children that a gang had been engaged by a third party to kill me and my family, so it would be best to stay away from me.
It has been an extremely stressful experience having my only sibling behave like this and we are not in the public eye, having our every move commented on. My heart goes out to William when I see the Ginger Wanker getting all the praise and attention.
