I was refused a water birth purely because my BMI was too high as I am overweight, otherwise a picture of health with a perfect pregnancy !
Unlike Grace though I wasn't in denial and accepted it was because I am a fatty
It must be completely down to the consultant and the trust then, my bmi is 34 (at time of getting pregnant) and I made a point of asking my consultant if I would still be able to have a normal birth and even water birth if everything goes to plan and she said yes, even sent a letter to my GP saying the same. Iām getting extra scans which I knew about when I was 14weeks as I had consultant appointment, my scans are due to the surgery I had (gastric sleeve) so they just want to make sure baby grows big enough. And I still have to have a gestational diabetes test, so sheās guaranteed to have to have the testI second this. Im automatically classed as high risk because my BMI is over 35. No other risk factors and first baby. I've been told I will have to give birth on labour ward and I'm having extra scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks which I'm grateful for as others don't get this. As soon as I saw Grace posting today (assuming she's 28 weeks this week) I had a feeling she was going for that extra scan and her consultant post proves it. She would of been told from her first scan that she was high risk and would have been told by her 20 week that she has to have extra scans and see a consultant (presuming she's high risk for BMI). Stop lying and be honest to show the reality of plus size pregnancy!! Many women go through it and she's making it seem shameful!! The only shameful thing about this situation is her ignorance.
And yes B belly is a common thing for plus size women who originally have a larger belly before pregnancy. A harder rounded top, goes in by the belly button and flabbier bottom to the bump, generally does get harder all round at full term but depends on the woman. Grace already had a popped belly at the top before pregnancy (as seen in youtube) so this probably explains why she seems larger at 28 weeks...Grace is larger than me, but I'm 30 weeks and my bump doesn't appear as large as hers, but everyone carries differently I suppose!
