A doctor is a general term meaning they are still in training and have not specialised in a specific field. A consultant is fully qualified and specialises in a specific field.
Ok thank you, I get it. It's a "specialist doctor".

I hope the consultant tells her how it is and brings her down a peg or two
If he/she isn't nice enough with her, she will tell the consultant is fatphobic😛

I’m consultant led due to a surgery I had over a year ago, not because of weight. I was just curious as I imagine some other people reading this thread who are pregnant and fat, as to why she would be refused a water birth purely because of weight.
I can’t imagine she will be refused purely because of her weight, if she’s otherwise deemed healthy (by her midwife and consultant if she has one.. they have a point scoring system which determines your risks) then she will surely be able to have the birth she wants
I was consultant led because of cancer & major surgery a few months before (thankfully) falling pregnant. Every trust is different but I was always told I had to be on the Labour ward, absolutely no way would a home birth be possible. If you have any questions feel free to DM me and I’m happy to share my experiences, I had such a lovely happy pregnancy (during covid!) and such a positive birthing experience.

On weight - there’s been doctors comment on this thread a few pages back, it’s literally just to do with being able to pull you out in an emergency. Heaven forbid something happened to mum they need to be able to yank you out and get you to surgery ASAP, with 1/2 people in there with you that wouldn’t be possible if you’re heavier. I was consultant led and allowed to have a water birth but am not bigger.

I had to google what a B belly is. If she did ask those questions then she definitely isn’t having the experience she’s attempting to portray - I think we all suspected that anyway, but this certainly confirms it.

We need new thread titles! Suggestions?

I’m going to go with:

Grace manifested her pregnancy, acting like there’s a huge bump but it’s only fat we see!

So she still won’t say the words ‘high risk?’ They don’t just assign consultants because you’re fat, its because you are HIGH RISK you absolute idiot.

she is insinuating that the doctors are being fatphobic towards her but that’s not the case. If anything did go wrong then she would complain she didn’t get the care as a fat black woman 🙄

In my trust you’re automatically high risk and put under consultant care if your bmi is over 35. I was under a consultant and my weight was my only risk factor. It made no difference to my care except for they strongly advised me to give birth on labour ward which I agreed to because at the end of the day I just wanted my baby here safely. I had a mostly straight forward pregnancy until the end, and wound up induced due to sudden onset high blood pressure and a massive post partum haemorrhage. I felt guilty every day for being overweight whilst carrying my baby even though she’s here now and perfectly healthy.

Not sure why she’s complaining that she’s getting extra care and attention for her baby regardless of the reason, surely that’s a good thing

Because what would her life be like if she didn’t complain about something at least once a day??

The only difference I had being consultant led due to bmi was an extra scan and had an appointment with the consultant to check over me in case they had to do c section, check my airways and my back where they put the spinal in. I think you’re lucky you get the extra care to be honest

exactly I’m so grateful for what we get on the NHS. When you consider people in the states can pay around $30,000 to give birth.

I was refused a water birth purely because my BMI was too high as I am overweight, otherwise a picture of health with a perfect pregnancy !
Unlike Grace though I wasn't in denial and accepted it was because I am a fatty 🤣

I second this. Im automatically classed as high risk because my BMI is over 35. No other risk factors and first baby. I've been told I will have to give birth on labour ward and I'm having extra scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks which I'm grateful for as others don't get this. As soon as I saw Grace posting today (assuming she's 28 weeks this week) I had a feeling she was going for that extra scan and her consultant post proves it. She would of been told from her first scan that she was high risk and would have been told by her 20 week that she has to have extra scans and see a consultant (presuming she's high risk for BMI). Stop lying and be honest to show the reality of plus size pregnancy!! Many women go through it and she's making it seem shameful!! The only shameful thing about this situation is her ignorance.

And yes B belly is a common thing for plus size women who originally have a larger belly before pregnancy. A harder rounded top, goes in by the belly button and flabbier bottom to the bump, generally does get harder all round at full term but depends on the woman. Grace already had a popped belly at the top before pregnancy (as seen in youtube) so this probably explains why she seems larger at 28 weeks...Grace is larger than me, but I'm 30 weeks and my bump doesn't appear as large as hers, but everyone carries differently I suppose!

It’s not just a consultant. They also will give her an appointment for the anesthetist to check her spine in case she needs an epidural, and she will also have to have the gestational diabetes test. These things all happen for a reason and for your own and babies safety. Didn’t bother me at all and I don’t know why she’s so against saying she’s high risk. Just makes other fat pregnant women feel bad when they don’t get the same experience because she isn’t being truthful.

Exactly! Not forgetting if your baby is growing larger than gestational age there's a risk of induction and possible C Section if they believe baby is risk of shoulder dystocia (shoulders getting stuck)

There is no update after her consultation? I remember the last time when she had the appointment with the midwife few weeks ago, after that there was story with that smug face we all love announcing that her blood pressure is fine, she’s still low risk.. Did they tell you something you didn’t like? 🤨

Just came across these tweets. Funny how she trusts the midwives (3 year degree) when they are telling her to eat more (iron).

I find her so irritating she's plus size, no problem atall I am myself a plus sized lady size 16 and losing weight i was a size 18 when I was pregnant. I did everything in my power to not gain too much weight in pregnancy there's no way I would of been allowed a home birth, I could of had a water birth but I had been in for reduced movements. I feel like she's plus sized and really doesn't like it, she masks it with this whole body confidence movement, she's clearly uncomfortable in her videos she's breathless. Pregnancy is hard, birth is hard she needs to listen to her damn doctors and get baby out safely that's the aim.

Also every other post on her Twitter is about food? She is utterly obsessed. I don't see how she can be gaining a better relationship with food then constantly gaining weight it doesn't make sense to me. She's getting to the point where I think she'd be uncomfortable in a plane seat. She's big and that's okay but just bloody own it!!!!

‘Everything hurts and is uncomfortable’ she says on Twitter (in between the other moaning and tweets about food), not the image insta Grace portrays!
