the Pzifer vaccine gets offered to other people if the batch given to the vaccine centre isn’t used up as it would “go off” otherwise (so eg if someone refuses the vaccine, another person in the area that hasn’t had it yet would be offered it - it happened to my parents). That could be one reason why non-priority group people get randomly offered it sometimes. But she didn’t get that vaccine, so...

from the asthma charity’s website -https://www.asthma.org.uk/advice/triggers/coronavirus-covid-19/what-should-people-with-asthma-do-now/#Vaccine depends on your history with asthma what group you end up in, so depends if she’s been hospitalised etc. She probably hasn’t been instructed to shield (?), going by her actions at least, but she’s probably higher on the list than I am for health reasons

also meant to say I’m going to try not* to think about it, not that I will!!

I thought asthma doesn’t count as an underlying condition as they removed it? I remember an asthma charity (rightly) getting frustrated about it? Anyone know?

It looks like she’s erased something before the AstraZeneca? Does the card say Oxford/AstraZeneca and she blotted out the ‘Oxford’? 😂
So I believe the government stance was that if you were under 50 with asthma, you'd only be eligible for the vaccine if you'd been hospitalised in the past year or if you had been on a particular treatment for asthma. The government said if you didn't fit those criteria you wouldn't be in group six, which was what drew criticism from the asthma charity because it could exclude people with bad asthma. However, GPs aren't following that guidance to a T - in addition to surplus supply, GPs can make their own decisions on who to call up for the vaccine. e.g. some practices were prioritising patients with learning difficulties despite that not being a criteria on the priority list before the government updated it recently. So it still makes sense that her GP would've called her up because of her asthma; I've had a few friends with asthma who got it the other week via their GP despite no hospitalisations.

And how very odd for her to erase out the Oxford part haha.

I just don't think there is any way her asthma could be as serious as she claims, I cannot imagine she would have been so careless if it was

If she was at all *at risk I think she would have gone the complete other way about covid and been super preachy about influencers not social distancing, going abroad, etc. But because she knew it was safe enough for her, she acted as she always does, and behaved completely selfishly because she knew she could get away with it.

She’s on private healthcare so that likely may be why she’s been “pushed up”

I know a super rich guy who’s been offered the vaccine and his friends are all vaccinated bc private healthcare!
such a left wing socialist millionaire!

I find this really odd as I’m on private healthcare as are some friends and family and the only ones who have been offered have been done so through nhs at the correct time. I do know of some young people who have got the vaccination because of all kinds of underlying health reasons tbh - seems like if you have anything (even serious allergy) they’ll call you ahead

she might not actually be high risk, I know people who are young with no high risk factors and were just offered it randomly. I think it just depends on the area you live in
Yeah me and my sister live in Clapham and my sister has only mild asthma and got hers today as well

Yeah I agree. I really didn’t think you could get the vaccine through a private company? Not in the uk at least.
They said at the start that no one will be able to pay their way for a vaccine either, although perhaps this has happened on a rare number of occasions.

It’s the NHS that contacts you anyway, not bupa or whatever.

This makes more sense tbh. Glad your sister was able to get one.

At least she (Grace) is “doing her bit” in promoting getting the vaccine and without the ubiquitous #ad 🥴

Yeah, the only way to get the vaccine is through the NHS. There’s no such thing as getting it through a private clinic in the UK (yet).

The vaccine is only being offered through the NHS. Private healthcare companies cannot purchase the vaccine.

https://www.parklandssurgery.nhs.uk/news.aspx "the vaccine is only being offered through the NHS"

Maybe there is some backdoor vaccine dealing amongst the super-rich. But I genuinely think Grace just got lucky - right combination of (probably mild, but maybe historically difficult) asthma and the vaccine plan going well in her area.

Is it bad even the reviews she posted by her friends don't even make sense 🥴 what the hell does "the vulnerability collapses in on itself due to the intention of posting in a vulnerable way" mean... or am I dumb lol
When I do take the time to read her posts/writing I genuinely struggle to read some of it. I’m not bragging but I think I’m relatively well educated and can understand words - However Graces writing makes my brain melt.

You would think she would want to make her writing more accessible rather than alienating people who will (and I’ve done it before) sit and google what words mean.

Just because you know lots of words Gross, doesn’t mean you have to use them all the time.

yeah I agree, I get to the end of a sentence and have no idea what I have read, it is bizarre

So she was higher risk this whole time (obviously due to asthma) but was constantly breaking lockdown rules over the summer, refused to wear a mask in taxis, and happily attended that covid-hotbed party in Dubai?! Influencers man... your life is more important than living the bougie London influencer life.
This is so very annoying as I have asthma and followed rules, and still not been invited 😩😩

he has “underlying health issues”. But he had an exemption badge and when I asked what his exemption was he said I don’t have one someone just gave it to me 🤷🏾‍♀️ So God knows. I don’t know about his friends, he’s in France atm and they refused to offer him the vaccine but he got the call in the uk he could get it if he flew back.

I've been thinking this - I posted a picture when I got my jab and someone messaged me saying "you should blur the batch number because people are duplicating them" and I replied "what do you mean?" And she said "people are copying the cards X" and I didn't know what to say other than that copying the card would be completely pointless and have no impact on me
Why are some people blurring out the batch number when they post this pic? What is someone likely to do with it?!

that last bit was explained badly but his doctor contacted him and said he could get the jab if he flew back to the UK - he is on a lot of medication though. It’s quite confusing???

also I have no clue about the private healthcare thing I actually assumed they would be able to provide it because he said he was flying back to get it and his friends had, had it. So I was wrong on that one I can admit! I also had the vaccine and I didn’t get contacted by my doctor I just booked it myself? Think it’s different for everyone

I’ve seen a few people showing their vaccine cards online and all the ones I’ve seen have said AstraZeneca (no Oxford).

Bit pedantic of me to point this out but I don’t think she’s scrubbed it out, I just think the stamps don’t include it because AZ are the ones producing and distributing the vaccine (i.e. they are the pharmaceutical company associated with it)

People may be copying the cards to sell to someone who doesn’t want the vaccine but may need it for proof for work or travel reasons. There probably aren’t many uses now but once travel passports are created I bet fake cards will be used

Not sure if someone else has replied but I know a couple of people with moderate asthma who are the same age and were contacted by the local authority for a vaccine this week.

Same here, I had asthma that was bad enough to have me hospitalised when I was way younger and it’s very mild now (I would go as far to say dormant as I haven’t had an asthma attack in about 3 years) but I still got invited to get my vaccine earlier this week
