This programme was good when it was about make up...
Agree the last series (and this one) looks like its less about make up and all about gender when the muas are on at the start why do they all have he him she her etc I don't get it should it mot be about the artists? And not about what they identify as.

Why was this woman judging people’s makeup ability whilst having brows looking like this

Glad the cocky pricky left, I hope it's brought them down a peg or two. They really thought they were better than everyone else didn't they?

Its just prosthetics and face painting about your emotions every week.
Very repetitive.
And then they struggle with basic make up artistry like colour matching and wing eyeliner when they have to do beauty challenges.

I want to see proper glam make up and editorial stuff. Like it when rankin appears. They've released this years contestants
Rankin is great for many reasons but most importantly he doesn't blow smoke up anyone's ass. The contestants know if he likes their work they're doing well.

I am also hoping for less face painting this series. As an older lady I'd love to see what they could do with older models.

I'm not really enjoying this series as much. Its all just a bit boring and samey as people have been saying.

I dont know if its just me noticing a bit more this time around but I am a bit fed up of all the personal stories and issues. The one this week about asthma was a bit much. I think everyone has daily struggles and issues but spending 5-10 min trying to justify why you should be in a competition just seems a bit redundant and they would be better off using that time to show the challenges and make up etc. Reminds me a bit of Xfactor or BGT with the sob stories.

I usually love Glow Up but this series I am just meh about it. I think with restrictions relaxing its probably going to drop off my TV/watching radar when compared to the last two series I was literally counting down to the new episodes.

I think some of you feel the same, but I really wish it was more of a normal make-up show rather than just all about special fx and doing the most outrageous looks they can think of. I wanted it to be something I could actually learn from, like doing glam looks, subtle no make-up looks, holiday, night out etc. And more of doing make-up on people with different skin tones, textures, features rather than just covering them all up with prosthetics and wild colours. Now it just seems to be about who can make the weirdest creation, and I have to stick with watching mua's on tiktok:LOL:
Totally agree
I don't think my work would be very impressed if I turned up looking like a sea monster because I was copying glow up for for make up tips 🤣

I still like this but the first series was loads better. The whole crap about the journey and who they are gets me down. Why can't they just want to be good MUAs and win a competition? I don't get why the show has to be slanted to the different/camp/drag angle and lots of people who have struggled to fit in - just have a cross section of people. I also really dislike Val and her nasty opinions

Thats why the first two series were so good!!!! I loved the challenge on the first series where they did celebs makeup for I think the soap awards or NTAs - one of them made over Ann from the chase. That to me was the essence of glow up. Now it has lost its way big time

If that’s true then for the LOVE of lipgloss no more fekkin FACEPAINTING. I want to see fashion editorials, advertising campaigns, problem solving, bridal makeup, in other words the bread and butter of most makeup artists. I don’t want to see people being made into lizards, space aliens or trees. It’s absolutely ridiculous, infantile and boring
This is why I’m hesitant to watch it because it’s not about make up but about face painting. The first series was good but it’s progressively gotten worse.

It looks like all the last challenges are going to be sob stories/painting a model rather than actual make up looks. I am really struggling with it this year, previous years I have loved it.
I am pleased with who went this week though.

i agree they seem to give Yong-chin a hard time and i Think she is quite good. They clearly seem to have their favourites this year
