I’ve just remembered about the mum I encountered a while ago who was desperate to get her pre teen kid on blockers so he didn’t end up looking like a ‘bloke in drag’. I bet she’s apoplectic, but I am relieved that all these kids with crazy parents now stand more of a chance of not ruining their lives.

Yeah, get those boys on puberty blockers as young as possible. Never mind the micropenis, gotta keep their faces as childlike as possible so they have a hope of passing as female!
Besides, even boys that start blockers and hormones young (like Jazz Jennings) still look essentially masculine. When every cell in the body is coded as male, it’s damn hard to stop the entire body growing as its supposed to grow.
I’ve just liked a few of the tweets that support Keira, just waiting for the TERF hunters to come at me. I just can’t get my head round why people can’t understand that this is about protecting kids from making life altering medical decisions when they haven’t thought about the lifelong implications of them. I hope Keira can move forward and find some peace in her life now. If trans identified people still wish to go down these pathways then fine, but make that decision for yourself, as an adult, with the right amount of emotional support.
Any legitimate group or charity that truly cared about the well being of children like they claim would be welcoming this decision into further research and protecting children from making rash decisions, not fighting against it and claiming foul play. Abhorrent. And as for your previous post re: mermaids endorsers, there should be a full list out there online for all those that people and companies that put their weight behind them and it’ll be interesting to see if those tweets are deleted and if they continue to show their support..

I can’t remember if it was on here or another forum I read it but someone said a lot of TRAs, purposely or misguidedly, tend to confuse with what’s going on in the US with the UK and think because we share a common language we share common laws, which we don’t and they haven’t got a clue. That would also explain the “hard, Christian Right” arguments.
And on the judges head that says “yes”, be it. They can spin it how they want, today has set an important precedent in future cases and how these charlatans operate going forward.
It’s more life changing for a young girl or any woman who doesn’t feel ready for children to go through with a pregnancy that they don’t want if anything, you’re then stuck with a child to raise for at least 18 years, not to mention all the post partum stuff that never gets talked about and the physical recovery of childbirth and issues that can stem from that.
Compare that to a teenage girl who terminates her pregnancy at 8 weeks and after a small recovery time can then move on with her life, get her education and have fun without having the stress that comes with looking after and being responsible for another human being. It’s easy to see which decision is often more ‘life changing’.

I understand how you feel, so many people like us to are scared. For the moment I’m only brave enough to subtly “like” articles confirming the success of today’s ruling, so i could be braver. And i don’t have anyone I know from work on my profile as I’m too scared to expose myself to that!). I have however just seen the hashtag “start cis shaming” so I’m logging out of twitter for a few days as it’s going to get quite nasty on Twitter really. It’s a shame i haven’t really seen any Trans voices supporting Keira - surely some trans identified people would be interested in knowing that their gender clinics will hopefully now do things properly rather than experiment on them?

I mean, I wish Elliot Page the best as they are an adult in their 30s who has made the transition over time, as an informed person. No problem with this. It’s the teenagers (and more commonly girls) that need to be sure they are supported properly before being put on blockers, and after they reach the appropriate age. Being seen 3 times as a teenager is just not good enough and as we have seen, has caused irreversible damage to brave Keira. People on Twitter are acting like today’s ruling was TERFS against TRANS full stop. They seem to omit the fact is is a ruling brought about by a case from someone who has actually been through the process and really wants to stop this happening to others without due preparation. It’s Keira’s voice which people should be listening to, about safeguarding minors.
We are also now to boycott Lush apparently because they admit to donating proceeds from their Charity Pot moisturiser to Women's Place UK. Now I have to remember to never mention Lush again (although I still love them and will buy from them - not to make a point, but I buy what I like regardless of my views on the company, I am strongly anti-Brexit for instance but still buy from companies owned by pro-Brexit bosses just because I like the product or service)

The stories of parents outing their children as trans on SM (when they are 12/very young) is absolutely horrifying and utterly irresponsible. I am not surprised that many of the kids backtrack... we go through so many confusing emotions when we are young. The rational part of your brain is not fully developed until you are at least 25.

So since he is male (but previously female), does that make his wife and Elliot straight now?? I find it hard to wrap my head around how it works. Like, how does Elliot's wife stay with him, when she is a les and attracted to women and physically Elliot may start looking manly?

Some will identify themselves with a new sexual orientation, if they are throwing themselves into gender ideology. I wonder how her wife will take it? Transitioning breaks up a lot of couples, not least because it consumes the transitioner's entire personality, but also because it often requires that their partner fall into line and change their sexuality.
