I hope one day, to settle down, get married to the woman (can I still say that!?) of my dreams, and have kids. However, one of my concerns is what will my children think when they go to school and not only be taught lessons regarding gender identification and tolerance, but also how they will cope with having two women as their parents?

Years ago it was traditional that kids just had a male and female as parents; and over the last 10 years or so kids have come to accept same-sex parents; but I wonder how they will cope when they are told that there will be no such thing as male/female, him/her etc. but they must accept the universal transgender view where pronouns no longer identify anyone, and that they themselves should no longer see themselves as boys or girls.

Not sure if I'm explaining this very well because quite honestly it gives me a headache just thinking about it.
My parents (the sort of lefties that never married because marriage was an archaic exchange of property) had multiple les friends with children when I was growing up (I'm 28, for context). All are well-adjusted adults now! I am too, maybe... 😅 I think what was (and is) key for children is stability, security, and love. Plus a great community and support network. If you decide to become a parent I am sure you will do brilliantly!

That said, I have the same concerns as you about what the outside world might be saying when/if I have my own children. In a way the 'hateful terfs' of the internet give me hope that we might not be stuck on this path? Ugh, I don't know.

Just read in the DM that Jenni Murray is being condemned for going on Loose Women and saying that trans women are not the same as real women.

She mentioned the fact that they grew up with male privilege and would always be genetically male.

Nearly all the comments said that she is correct. I only read the DM because I enjoy the comments!!!

There will come a day when all this faux outrage will be ignored - no more apologies, no more climb downs, no more humbling.

Instead it will be "If you don't like it, live with it!"

I just never ever thought that in 2020 it would be deemed transphobic to say trans identified males are not the same as women

Regrettably we live in an era of victimhood and "I'm offended by everything I don't agree with".

Woke virtue signaling is the new undemocratic democracy, and we all have to tow the line

Long tome lurker, first time poster.
Had to create an account to post this.
The national women's council of Ireland has appointed a trans identified male to their board
The same week they attended a conference all about the bias in the healthcare system against women.
You couldn't make this up.
It is so disheartening to see this.
I'm so glad to have found this community of like minded individuals.

I wonder how many women have been appointed to any national trans committees?

After all, we all believe in diversity and inclusion don't we?

I think Twitter is the worst place for this kind of thing, seems on there you can’t say anything, I’ve seen people have a go at others for having things like gender reveals?? Like wtf, just let people be how they wanna be with their kids not everything needs to be they/them.

I moved away from Twitter, IG and Fb a long time ago for precisely those reasons. I think most of those sites have gone woke, which is fine to an extent, but when moderators ban descenters for having a different but perfectly reasoned opinion, you just know you're on a hiding to nothing.

I am so close to deleting my twitter completely. I start spitting feathers when I see pile ons on Twitter. Facebook i pretty much only use for the messenger app. Instagram I just keep for nice things like hairstyles, food, clothes etc.

Twitter and Fb are ancient websites now, and yet big business still insist on using them because they've got a huge following.

so glad I found Tattle

Yeah I hardly use Twitter or Facebook, mainly because there’s too many people who are just brainwashed and will bash you for having an opinion. When I have kids I don’t care what they want to identify as, all I want is for them to be happy like anyone would however when they’re young and under my control I’m not going to be dressing them in neutral clothes or referring to them as they/them, once they’re old enough to make their own decisions then they can decide how they’re wanna be

I suppose this is all part of social and gender evolution that moves forward through the generations.

I'm only in my 20s, so cannot really offer much in the way of what life was like for the LBGT+ community during my parents and grandparents era - although i guess it was far more rigid, immoral and decadent compared to today's more enlightened times.

So am guessing the next generation of young people will be perfectly comfortable with gender neutral pronouns because by then social and gender evolution will have progressed and become even more liberal than ever before.

But it does make me wonder what will happen come the time when I am pregnant and give birth. Will the midwife say "Congratulations! But I am not allowed to tell you what it is!" compared to the old days when it was "It's a boy/girl!"?

But it’s not moving forward, I’d argue it’s actually going backwards. Although the next generation part makes me smile, can you imagine the next set of rebellious teenagers!? A young girl pissed off with her parents and once day she’s storms out of the house and one parent mutters to the other “they must be angry” and she screams “I’m not they, I’m SHE” and the parents are like 😱

No I would agree, it isn't a step forward from my way of thinking. But I think at a social level, especially at how social media is now pushing the agenda so forcefully, this will become the norm at some point in the next 10 years or so.

You've just mentioned "parents", which is a label that some see as offensive and want abolished, as is "child" and "children". It will come to a point where no one will belong to anyone, and no one will have a gender label at all.

A fanciful notion, even a nightmarish one. but I'm convinced there are some groups out there that will push hard for acceptance and recognition.

Which reminds me, when I launched Google this morning, it told me it's "honouring Transgender Awareness Week" this week.
