Have raised two 3 year olds in the past, which leads me to believe that conversation never happened imo.

Yeah how would a three year old know about zombies? Aren't they usually all about dinosaurs at that age?
The little boy’s reply seems like he is just agreeing with his mum and he doesn’t understand the deeper meaning on what she’s saying. At least that’s my experience with 3 year old boys - I said to my nephew when he was that age ‘you’re an egg’ and he just agreed with it and replied ‘yes I’m an egg’.

In the Sunday Times today - self-ID in England looks dead in the water. Anyone who wants to legally change their gender will still need medical sign-off and to have lived as their preferred gender for two years.

Fantastic news, I don’t think I will feel happy about this until we get the final announcement, there’s being so much to-ing and fro-ing about it.
I do wonder how this is going to be squared off with the BMA’s decision the other day though. I didnt realise just how bad the turn out was - seems like a very small number of young doctors have brought in a policy with little weight behind it. I wonder whether some doctors just don’t want to be involved as it’s so political and so would rather there wasn’t a requirement for any medical verification?
Does anyone know anyone in real life who is an active pro-trans lobbyist (as in, militant and outspoken about it)? Or is it all just contained on Twitter and within Jameela Jamil's timeline? Is it more common in the U.S? I have never met anyone IRL who actually believes JK Rowling is a transphobe, but I would really like to know where these people actually are. I move in fairly liberal circles and I'm in my early 30s, not like I'm a dinosaur hanging out with old people who only read the Express. Any IRL stories greatly appreciated.
There are loads of them at universities. The students involved with societies / mental health / disabilities / the SU etc were particularly militant about it.
A particular bugbear of mine was that they lobbied and changed all the loos in the student pub to ‘gender neutral’ as well as one of the largest ladies loos in the SU, which meant on club nights the queue for the women’s toilets (which was always ridiculous anyway) was all the way down the corridor and stairs and no one but the blokes used the ones they changed.
My university was politically a tale of two extremes. The very very liberal TWAW lot and then a load of very very conservative students who were openly pro-trump and pro-soviet. Bizarre. No middle ground whatsoever.
Edit: The ‘Harry Potter Society’ has said they “stand with MuggleNet and their stance on the recent controversies surrounding JK Rowling’s harmful and disproven beliefs. Our society welcomes all genders, sexualities, ethnicities and backgrounds.” There is more but you get the gist.
Interesting! Were the pro gender-neutral toilets lot typically gender nonconforming themselves? Or just kind of your typical woke students?
The most vocal students were not trans themselves, they were ‘allies’ or ‘gender fluid’ or ‘queer’. Painfully woke. Honestly, if you saw the latter identifying students out and about you wouldn’t think they were gnc. One girl who was gender fluid said she just loved labels.
There were just a handful of actually transitioning students as far as I’m aware.
I didn’t have a problem with the uni having ‘gender neutral’ toilets available but it was always the ladies loos that were being changed.
The student Union was at the forefront and constantly stressed being inclusive. There was definitely an effort to make the university “inclusive”. The university had trans awareness training, queer history courses and a trans day of remembrance held in the chapel with pride flags etc. Lots of lgtbqia club nights too.
Most of the SU staff have pronouns in their emails and on twitter profiles. Quite a few admin staff in various departments do this too.

During lockdown two people on my fb friends have teenage daughters who have come ‘out’ as trans. One is 15 or 16 the other 12.
A middle aged (37) man I used to go out with 20 ago came out a few years ago as a trans woman who was not going to even dress as a woman. He doesn’t say much on there but put a duck you jk thing the other day that I ignored. I don’t think for one second he is trans gender just attention seeking.
i can’t think of anyone in my life that has mentioned anything to do with it all, unless I’ve said something
