I get that @Eurgh but the reality is there’s little hope of more left wing press reporting the stories at the moment.
I’m glad that at least some mainstream press is giving Gender Critical perspectives a voice and hope in the future The Guardian et al feel brave enough to (though at the moment that feels like a pipe dream!)

Personally, while I’m angry at the right in politics and media I am also angry at the left. Starmer’s pride video was very disappointing (and the Labour Party as a whole has treated GC feminists appallingly in recent years) and the Guardian’s refusal to report anything to do with Tavistock is pretty tit.

I agree, though wanted to note Jess isn’t a les (it mentions in one of the Times articles she is straight).
Oops, sorry, I thought I had read somewhere that she was.

Funnily enough, men never needed language or the law to know which sex to r*pe, abuse, oppress, etc. People like them need to go outside and touch grass.

For those following the Sonia Appleby vs Tavistock employment tribunal, it sounds like there’s some absolutely damning evidence to be heard next week. Allison Bailey has summarised Dr Matthew Bristow’s evidence in this thread:

It’s well worth a read. Again and again people say that colleagues were discouraged from taking their concerns to Appleby. That there were repeated concerns from gay clinicians that children were attending the service for gay conversion therapy. Children who presented to the service with a history of sexual abuse/grape did not have this taken into account. One young person showed signs of being groomed by a transwoman in the US who sent gifts and was going to fly the young person out to see them 😳

I am very interested in hearing about what else Dr Bristow will have to say when cross examined. I really can’t believe the situation at GIDS was so corrupt (er, allegedly).

I feel like Labour are a lost cause on women's rights and LGB rights but even they're not coming close to the Lib Dems - with the multiple Tavistock whistleblowers we know that these answers aren't true

'they do that of their own volition, nobody is talking them into it'...duck right off.

What is your favourite section? Pro-Yaniv? Anti-Rowling? Anti-Maya? Sports? The fact that transwomen 'obviously' can't use male facilities? Cis women abuse children as well? ROGD doesn't exist? Puberty blockers aren't dangerous?

This has probably been posted on previous incarnations of one of these threads but I went down the rabbit hole on twitter today and found out about ''Princess Mom'' and found this:

This'll probably be upsetting for women who've lost infants or miscarried so just a caution before reading.

Urgh ... in a Twitter thread by a doctor posting about how even mild cases of COVID have been found to cause brain changes that could lead to "long COVID", someone responded with a comment about how we can't cure various diseases but "there's a cure for transphobia!" and posted a link to a transwoman's tweet of an OnlyFans picture with his giant surgically-enhanced moobs out. In what universe is that appropriate?! (I don't know if the doctor in question was accused of being transphobic but still)

I do strongly believe in trans rights, I have trans family members and acquaintances. They just want to get on with their lives. I also believe in women's rights and agree with Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie that transwomen are transwomen and I don't understand why that's a problem.
I agree with you, I definitely think there needs to be a middle ground on this as at the moment it seems to be all or nothing. I believe you should be able to be who you want, if you wish to transition that is up to tou. But I don’t think it’s fair that if someone questions very real issues around transitioning that they are automatically a TERF or transphobe. It’s not just about women’s spaces that I have queries with, it’s also to do with the long term effects physically and emotionally of people who have had all their breast tissue, nipples or their genitalia cut off. What about the drugs they are using, especially in the young? It’s such a massive toll on the body that is quite worrying that some people think it’s as simple as getting your tonsils removed or something.

I’m seeing more and more people coming out in support of Jess de Wahls.

Of course the first reply is a man saying “I’d imagine they are though?”

What a thoroughly knobbish response.

Anyway, Jess seems to be inundated with support, which is so great to see.
They seem to have removed Eric Gill from their shop - can’t find any of his work listed there?

Yes!!

Like that case study of that awful birthing fetishist - I have no doubt sickos like that are an absolute minority, people like that and Ian Huntley are a very small minority of a very small minority who will pursue anything in order to act out criminally, the fact they’re trans is inconsequential? The thing that does matter is that none of us are allowed to discuss any concerns or anything to do with trans unless it’s yassss here’s my 5 month old queen xoxo which opens well intentioned people up to victimisation from that handful of violent offenders.

And the reverse is true and applies to us too, I’m sure on some GC sites people go down and down the drain and end up very extremely anti trans/creepy. A middle ground needs to be created for these conversations to be had and the Twitterati need to accept it and stop bullying.

And semi related but on the trans women are women thing I was thinking earlier, trans is just a descriptor? Like I’m a cis white WC woman and those three descriptors give an indicator to my lived experience, as would a black Jewish woman’s? Comparing and contrasting those two women they’ve got v different lived experiences & problems, and would want their own safe spaces to exist and discuss those in. Why is trans the only descriptor we’re not allowed to say? I get that it could feel othering or invalidating if said with malicious context or pointlessly (eg pointed out in the middle of a work lunch, in the same way you wouldnt say hi this is Jane my black friend because that’s bizarre behaviour) but it’s an important part of a person? And as a person with enhanced medical needs I rly get only wanting to speak to ppl in a similar boat so I don’t understand this erasure of their own challenges or need for community. I can’t think of a single descriptor I’d get rid of for me, it would feel really weird? Is it because “passing” is such a taboo?

Sorry this is an essay, I think about this stuff a lot at the mo weirdly?!

Just seen that on the news, cannot believe this is allowed! This person clearly has a great advantage when it comes to lifting, going through puberty as a male she would be advantaged, doesn’t matter about her testosterone levels now. She has failed to gain anything as a male so this is the next best option?

why is this tit being allowed? I feel so angry on behalf of all women esp those who have trained their whole life to be in this position and they are being disadvantaged because of a minority
