I’m a bit confused with Dr Karen Ingala Smith and to be granted I haven’t followed her too closely so maybe I’ve missed something obvious. But she’s commenting on Twitter/X and having a go at Kellie-Jay Keen calling her a hate filled ranter and it seems her issue is that Keen is apparently standing as an MP in Birmingham Yardley and had previously said ‘parts of Bradford don’t have British culture because of the number of people who are Muslim religion and/or of Pakistani ethnic origin’ (to quote the tweet by Dr Smith). I don’t see a problem with what Keen said because it’s true, in areas with high foreign ethnic origin there will be less or no British culture. Dr Smith then goes on to say ‘Ms ‘lovely big house and no mortgage’ wants to represent a constituency with 35% of children identified as living in child poverty? …. Of all the prospective parliamentary candidates in the country, if the one you think you should challenge on women’s sex-based rights and protections is Jess Phillips, you’re woefully mistaken.’ Which is an argument I can understand. If she has no background and understanding of poverty how could she help an area with a lot of poverty. As for Jess Phillips, I think she has done a lot for women and girls but she also believes that women can be used alongside ‘people with cervixes’ and calls trans women women? I also saw that Dr Smith is campaigning for Labour and someone said she included a boy in her list of Counting Dead Women. So is Dr Smith a TRA but using VAWG to hide behind? I’ve confused myself on this all.
