Hopefully @ahkrin can shed light on his post but I interpreted it as if it becomes acceptable to discriminate against one marginalised group (trans women - I know you don't agree trans women are marginalised I'm just giving my interpretation) then it legitimises discriminating against other marginalised groups. I'd really like to stress that I personally don't think racism and transphobia are comparable but I do see that there is intersection between the two. To be clear, I'm not calling anyone here transphobic or racist. From the Human Rights Campaign: "In 2020, HRC tracked a record number of violent fatal incidents against transgender and gender non-conforming people, the majority of them Black trans women."

A TIF would never step away from the clichéd appearance. I forgot the tattoos, always on forearms as it’s more ‘masculine’ I assume?! 🤦🏻‍♀️
Mentioned my trans cousin on here a while ago. She’s got some really crap tattoos to make her look more male. Massive ones all over her head and face. Receding hairline, obviously. And the exact voice you picture a TIF having. Refuses to wear pants as male pants don’t fit her properly around the crotch area, so much so that she went out of the way to message the day before my mum’s funeral to tell us she couldn’t possibly wear pants as they give her gender dysphoria… Exactly what we all cared about the day before we buried our mum. She tried desperately to act like one of the blokes during the wake but fit in much better with all the women and was loving a gossip. You could spot her amongst the men a mile off. Definitely tried to make it all about her as it was her first big family gathering as ‘he’…

I just saw this on one of my Facebook groups and the vast majority of comments were mocking the whole concept. I don’t know how old the kid is or anything about the story really but it was refreshing that it didn’t seem to be a TRA fest. However, it was taken down after only 24 minutes, right after a comment of “I hope her SON is happy” 🙄 so I’m guessing it got reported.

Astonishing the number of celebrities that have ‘trans’ children compared to the normal populous.

Agreeing with what previous posters have said about being able to spot a TIF fairly easily. I think women are good at spotting patterns of behaviour and with TIFs, it's that instinct that the pattern is 'off'. Sometimes its blatantly obvious (wearing completely inappropriate clothing) or more subtle like how the person behaves (sitting with legs wide on public transport).

For instance I went to a children's party at an indoor activity centre recently and one of the fathers has decided to transition. Now this person isn't someone I see very often, so much that I couldn't remember his name ( so no chance of deadnaming!) but when I first saw the 'new' him out of the corner of my eye standing by a group of children, my first instinct was to ask the children to move away from him as I didn't recognise this person and they were standing too close to someone I didn't recognise. Then I looked closer and I recognised the father but I still felt a bit uneasy. It was a bit like the Emperor's new clothes where no one wants to say anything. He is quite a big burly bloke and the only effort he appears to have done to become a 'woman' is shave off his beard, have a manicure (to be fair, he did have lovely nails!), and stick on a rather crotty looking beanie hat. The effect made him look like Bennie from Crossroads with a nice set of acrylics.
He also now goes by a name that's the same as one of the other mums which confused me when people were referring to this name and wasn't sure who.thet were talking about!
I don't know the family very well but I think most, if not all of them are neurodivergent in some form. I know one of the children is autistic and very literal in his thinking so I don't know how he is coping with his dad being his 'mum'. Possibly not all that well as he didn't come to the party despite being invited.

That’s a US campaign group, I doubt it has any bearing on crime statistics over here. If you delve deeper into the research, many of those were sex workers who are disproportionately affected by violent crime, regardless of ‘gender’. Statistically, a trans person in the UK is at no more risk of murder than the average resident here.

I do find it quite amusing that in an effort to be ‘non-binary’ that they (plural) have created a stereotype for themselves 🤭

This is a standard response and my standard response would be compare that to the number of fatal violent incidents against women. If you’re saying there’s an intersection between racism and transphobia what is that, can you give an example? We are not all white middle aged women on here. It’s sad and not acceptable when anyone meets a violent death and I’m sure I’ve seen it explained on here that a lot of the people named in your statistics are sex workers. We know sex workers are more vulnerable to this type of attack. The race and sex of the victims would be more due to wider circumstance than the fact they were trans. I also don’t think you can/should explain away someone else’s comment to reassure yourself it didn’t contain underlying racism.

Do you think he knew he picked the same name as another mum? Do they know each other? I’d be really concerned if the dad of a child I knew renamed himself using my name!

There is a popular conspiracy theory pushed by a lot of those "blind" sites that there is a secret society of powerful women in Hollywood and one of their conditions for entry is they need to have at least one trans-identified child in the public eye. I don't think that's true, not least because the list of supposed members includes women who don't have any children ... but I can see why such a theory would come about

If I was still a goth/metalhead I would be most pissed off as they have appropriated tattoos, piercings, vintage stores, doc martens and bright hair dye. Is bad enough you can’t have rainbow anything without it being ‘queer’. I found an online camera shop the other day that is ‘queer owned’. Sure enough Max is wearing a beanie and has they pronouns.

Has anyone seen this? Absolutely awful

What she says here is exactly what we were on about yesterday evening about why we need single sex spaces:

'Not all men are rapists and murderers but you have to keep all men out to keep the bad ones out.'

Interesting that it’s mentioned that one of the men makes no effort and the other has “sparkly jeans” because of course as women we only ever wear jeans if they have sparkles on. Jeans without sparkles = man jeans, obviously 🙄

Your post made me nostalgic for my own goth days. I still love a lot of my old music but I present differently now as I have lived more life and that comes with me. You could say it was a phase I went through. That’s the concerning thing, my “phase” left me with memories, a dark sense of humour and good taste in music. The teenagers/twenties phase girls these days are left with infertility, mastectomy scars and a receding hairline.

This is a quote from The Conversation that puts it succinctly: "for trans people of color, the challenges they face because of gender discrimination are exacerbated by struggles they deal with because of racism."
I also don’t think you can/should explain away someone else’s comment to reassure yourself it didn’t contain underlying racism.
I was merely sharing my own interpretation of the comment. I'm fully aware I could be mistaken.

Not really sure but my instinct was that it was a bit odd, as the mum and her child were definitely part of the same social group and the children had gone to each other's parties in the past. Without being too specific, the mum is South east Asian so it did occur to me it might be a fetish thing 😧

Definitely a few red flags there!!

Apart from the small hands, little feet and chipmunk man voice - one of the biggest giveaways for me is the womanly hips and well padded a. You can tell it’s a woman even when walking behind them. The only person they are fooling is themselves.

Yeah I think it all comes from Enty Lawyer (crazydaysandnights) but then there was a divorce where the husband cited that as a reason. I think it’s probably bull.

I have a Facebook friend who I assumed was a les so I was shocked when they posted a photo of their male partner who looked early twenties - they are late fifties. It wasn’t the supposed age difference but the partners sex which baffled me till I took a closer look and spotted that they have a well defined waist and hips.
