Living proof of what exactly? You are not some strange species formally thought to be extinct. You’re one of millions of females who get pregnant every year. Your existence has never been called into question.

Ok a rant incoming. Last night I got my period (you know, like women do…) & the first night is always rough. You don’t need details but iykyk. Anyway, this morning when I was getting ready for the day, I thought about how there will be some bleeping idiots in this world, tucking their rooster & balls into their frilly snag “bend my fool backwards” pants and slipping on a pantyliner and claiming to have had an experience just like mine. And honestly it made me rage for so long I wanted to punch something

That angers me too, even though I haven't had a period in 8 years I still remember how ducked the whole process is.
Some dude decides he's a woman and almost romanticises menstruation. It's a horrible feeling when someone takes your experience and makes it theirs, minus the bad bits of course. It's insulting and belittling.
Wishing you as much comfort as you can get in the next couple of days.

Or a woman who has decided she’s a man who uses your experience to shame you for assuming only women menstruate and hold themselves up as an example of how men also menstruate and need more support and sympathy.

There will always be people with "alternative beliefs" on a wide range of topics that the rest of us roll our eyes at, but they usually have little influence on our daily lives. It doesn't matter if my neighbour believes the world is flat; I can choose to either politely nod or enter a fierce debate. I don't have to tiptoe around, watch my (scientifically correct) language or worry about being "cancelled" in any way.

But if that same neighbour is towering over me at 6' 5, wearing lipstick and a dress - and insisting that he is a woman - the same rules don't apply. If I turn to scientific articles to back up my opinion that the earth isn't flat I'll find an abundance of material online, easily available. But if I go to reputable medical sites I'll be faced with gender-woo terms.

Yea exactly. I don’t understand why this stuff has crept so much into mainstream accepted language, where even medical professionals are having to tiptoe round stuff. And why services for WOMEN have to use ‘inclusive language’ for the tiny percentage of women who don’t like to be referred to as such. I think it’s fine to refer to individuals however they wish to be called, but don’t write a book about growing in daddy’s tummy.
If you don’t like being called mummy call yourself something else. There’s a few grannies I know who don’t like gran/Nan and go by an affectionate nickname instead. They’re not changing the language for everyone else tho.

Also - the comment about ‘queer’ women who are in hetero relationships and having babies etc, I agree surely it’s super annoying for lesbians?? And like you say, an appropriation!

I have long been a fan of athletics. My dad was a middle distance runner and as a family we watched athletics meets - not just the Olympics but commonwealth games and national championships.

I vividly remember Lynsey Sharp’s medal hopes going into Rio. It’s so exciting watching British athletes doing well on the world stage. She was a real contender - a long string of successes and records to her name. In the 800m women’s race, I watched her, Melissa Bishop and Joanna Jozwik be easily beaten by three men all of whom have 5-ARD and all of whom are now banned by World Athletics from competing in women’s races. Lynsey was absolutely vilified in the media for being upset at missing out on a medal and for not congratulating Semenya.

Semenya, despite the ruling that he is male and that the only difference between him and other men is that his genitals didn’t develop correctly, still holds the women’s record for 4th fastest time in the 800m.

So no, I don’t have much sympathy for him. My sympathy is with the women and girls who have lost out on medals and opportunities right the way through his career.

Caster is a medical cheat with a gold medal. No different from doping. My sympathies are with the women told by Semanya to train harder when he had the physical advantages of a male person. The fact he has a medical abnormalities doesn’t entitle him to take a woman’s spot. Of course he was manipulated by SA athletics so they could get medals. It’s just like East Germany and steroids. Olympics committee are weak and should stand up for women.

I've had and heard several conversations with men who are happy to use preferred pronouns and believe TWAW but they draw a distinction with sports, saying men shouldn't be able to compete in women's sport.
Men elevating sports is nothing new but I don't understand how you can draw a line against their sacrosanct sport but not the rest of womens lives. I find them even more grating than those who are fully TWAW because they are acknowledging there is a difference but only care about it when it impacts sport!

It makes me angry that they say they were surprised to get pregnant, if you're someone with a uterus having P in V sex with your male partner why would you not take precautions? I would imagine that a baby conceived by a 'trans man' is more at risk than a baby conceived by a woman. The birth story shows it wasn't a normal or easy birth and I think that's selfish

They believe it's at no cost to them without realising TWAW applies to everything if true. There can be no exceptions. There are no exceptions to women using women's spaces. Therefore a TIM in a "less serious" situation (changing room or toilets) is as justified as a TIM in a women only grape counselling session. You can't say "TWAW sometimes", but that's where people end up at when confronted with those most vulnerable single sex situations.

I put "less serious" in quotes because there's this perceived sliding scale of single sex spaces, when there'll all there for good reason. Some just peak people more than others. I don't get the "well I'm okay with it" line - not when it takes rights away from others (basically what my argument always comes down to with GC stuff).

It was a volunteer/staff member explaining that pride month was great and they were happy their employer was celebrating pride because "it's the one month of the year when I can be myself". I just thought that actually didn't paint the employer in such a great light. Why can't this person be themselves all year round? Are they talking about UK society in general? Because if you can be yourself without fear of abuse or mockery for a month, then you'll be absolutely fine the rest of the year. The sort of people who'd verbally or physically abuse someone won't stop during pride month. I just came away thinking the message made little sense and wasn't as positive as they thought it sounded.

Sounds like the charity just wanted to Pat itself on the back for being so inclusive.
At least by doing that they can let us know which shops to avoid.

Periods are terrible and I never really 'got used' to them. The crying just before the period. The pain. The blood. I guess in the past women over 20 were just pregnant or breastfeeding most of the time so they didn't have them as often but they are a right bleeping nuisance.

I used to run my pill packets together without a break (or I'd think oh it's been ages since I had one, I'd better get it over with) which obviously isn't the best way to go about things but I had a fairly chaotic life back then.

Of course I felt sad when they stopped for good as well.
