"Clara's" appointment really annoys me. We're always hearing the government and the science institutions bleating on about attracting women and girls into STEM subjects at school and university, but then they employ a man in womanface as the head of a so-called "equality and diversity" department

So, Billie-Jean King has given a wide-ranging interview about her life. Even though we know that she and Megan Rapinoe do not support the draft American bill to exclude transgender athletes from women's sports, she has the nerve to say that she doesn't disagree with Martina Navratilova because her position is still evolving. She claims that she is still learning from science. Apparently she wants to err on the side of inclusion and doesn't want an 8 year old child to suddenly not be allowed to play in the backyard with other kids.

My eyes have rolled so far back into my head on reading this nonsense that they're almost permanently rooted looking backwards. Firstly, she's not a stupid woman and the science isn't difficult. How much research does she need to read to understand something that most of us recognise instinctively, i.e. any male who has gone through puberty will be faster, stronger, have greater stamina etc than any female and will thus have an irreversible advantage over female athletes. There is nothing else to understand.
Secondly, that 8 year old kid she's talking about would not be excluded from playing with other kids in the backyard. Not to mention, if an 8 year old is really worrying about their gender, I suggest that they need help and playing sport is the probably not the biggest thing that their parents should be worried about. In any case, it's a completely spurious argument.
She should have the honesty to acknowledge her position and not try to hide behind this mythical 8 year old kid who apparently isn't allowed to play with his friends.

So disappointed in BJK, she’s fought for women and against sexism in sport her whole career, she knows damn well what a woman is (she’s married to one FFS) and the rampant misogyny we face. Clearly she just doesn’t want to put her head on thr chopping block and risk offending anyone or losing speaking engagements and opportunities to make money and be adored by her LGBT fans I guess.
And I've just come across this in relation to women's pool. Apparently in August the governing board for pool (I think it covers both the men and women's game) said that it would be limited to biological females, however they changed the rules last month and will be allowing transgender and non-binary competitors to compete in the women's game.
To make it worse, they're allowing self-identification, although they say that they reserve the right to test that testosterone levels have been reduced to those required by the IOC for trans athletes. That is completely meaningless: they won't test anyone and this amounts to an open invitation to any man to claim that they are non-binary in order to enter competitions.
It goes without saying that in pool, men have so many advantages including being stronger so being able to have a better initial break and also have longer reaches which are invaluable in making shots. If this wasn't the case, there wouldn't be separate men and women's categories. They're going to kill women's pool completely.
I wonder what BJK thinks to this? Does she need a scientist to explain the male advantage here? Her 'inclusive' mantra will result in women never winning matches and effectively being muscled out of the sport. The whole thing just stinks.
ETA: One of the top players has said that she won't play against trans players. Good on her. I hope that the other women players stand by her, so they can force a change like the women anglers managed to.

Bailey’s style of drag turns my stomach it’s mean spirited and misogynistic. Hard to put my finger on it, seems to pick on the vulnerable and takes utter piss out of ‘every day women’ and those with LD. Drag should be a celebration of women in my humble opinion, I believe it’s an art form in its proper place (not in primary school assembly unless it’s panto)

She’s the one who once said I’m a woman but please don’t treat me like one. That really stuck with me. The internalised misogyny. It made me so sad. It’s clear she’s been given tit for being gay and gender non conforming. Her obsession with being a boyish women has grown over the years and I’m sure has been influenced by the likes of Mae Martin, who is very similar. Always identified as a woman but over the years that became non binary and now top surgery. Someone wants to tell them both you can absolutely have short hair, dress however TF you like and not have to be non binary ffs. I like(d) Drag when it was stuff like Lily Savage, fool Emery and Danny LaRue - men dressed as women but not pretending to be women.
But things are changing. I watch drag race uk and mostly do enjoy it. But there is far too much emphasis placed on looks and not enough on comedic talent. And comedy is the basis of UK drag.
But the thing you need to remember is that this mob think what they're doing is groundbreaking, its not!!!.
I mean, one of the highest rated comedies on the BBC is a drag show -.Mrs Browns Boys!!!
My mum (aged 87) used to watch a drag act called Old Mother Riley - he was married to his sidekick Kitty. And I grew up watching Wee Jimmy Krankie, a woman dressed as a wee boy. She's also married to her sidekick Ian..
Also when you watch drag race uk, it's becoming obvious that drag is refuge for failed actors - can't make it as an actor, put a frock on and call yourself a drag queen.
For me, Lawrence Chaney is the breakout star from.drag race uk - from what I've seen of lawrence, he's a he and what he really wants is Paul O"Grady's career.
