She deserves a medal!
As I said before - I love everything about Japan, have even considered learning Japanese. Would I 'pass' if I wore a kimono, dyed my hair black and had surgery to change the shape of my eyes? Of course not.
But wearing a dress and make up makes you magically into a woman, apparently.

Ironically it was comments like these that made me start questioning the whole trans situation. I went along with the “be kind, every identity is valid” stuff for a long time but it really started to bother me the way men on the left are so quick to be horribly misogynistic and ageist towards woman in the name of ‘being a good ally’, while they pat themselves on the back for how sensible and progressive they are.

Anyway hi GC thread, I’m another one who was taken in by it all for years and the penny has finally dropped. Always had things that didn’t sit right for me but kept my mouth shut for fear of being labeled as a bigot. Things like having to pretend AGP isn’t a thing when it is obviously everywhere, or not allowing detransitioners to tell their stories for fear of making the movement look bad, or expecting women to set aside our own instincts to keep ourselves safe for fear of hurting a man’s feelings…Well it took me a long time and I have a lot to learn but I get it now, thanks.
I was the same, the underlying misogyny bothered me but I felt like an hole for the thoughts I was having. It wasn't until I started reading, then interacting with these threads that I realised what was really happening.

I was reading yesterday about how the number of people wanting to detransition later down the line is really quite a lot. This was from a psychologist working with people wanting to transition and accessing them for 'suitability'. She said that loads of young people were being told that any mental health issues will basically be resolved like magic if they transition. Sad.

And this knowledge is exactly how I was peaked/peeked.

Exactly! What a vile creep he is. 🤢
I was having a nose and India wrote a tweet basically saying that 'TERFs' don't care about woman's rights and that's just a cover up. Which seems a bizarre and untrue thing to say. From what I've been learning lately the whole point of being GC is about protecting women (and children)?

What I find so strange is that it's all well and good saying things along the lines of trans people need protecting at all costs but then when it comes to TERFs they need to 'die in a fire'?! You either care about people or you don't?!

I didn’t know how common it was as I’d been told all the stories I’d seen were made up to try and discredit the ‘actual’ trans people. I stumbled across the r/detrans subreddit and it broke my heart. It could have easily been me as I was a bit of a tomboy growing up and had horrendous body image issues as a teenager. And then I found out that the ‘conversion therapy‘ they want to ban is simply discussing with a therapist and challenging your feelings (as any good therapist will have you do) before having irreversible elective surgery. They want young people whose brains aren’t even done developing to be able to just opt into this on a whim with no questions asked and that’s really horrifying.

Exactly @Elle - you never see a GC woman wishing a trans person harm. We just don’t want AGPs in our spaces or sports. But you very often see TRAs telling women to ‘choke on my fool.’

That's vile. I saw a female wrestler talking about her experience of being matched against a trans woman opponent without warning. She won the match but she didn't feel safe and it had a lasting impact on her.

Fallon Fox broke a woman’s skull in an mma match. Men should not be anywhere near women’s sport, but combat sports? They just want an excuse to beat up women.

I know some women train with men in martial arts, emphasis on train. I’m almost certain in those cases the men are holding back to avoid accidentally killing someone.

I basically peaked when Graham Linehan started getting tit. I'd never really thought much about it before that and was very much a leftie liberal live and let live type (still am part from this one thing I suppose), So, I looked into it trying to see what the fuss was and oh lord, instantly peaked by the rabid, violent, misogynistic TRAs and the comparatively measured and rational rebuttals by TERFs.

I guess India had nothing constructive to say in response to the woman's argument, and had to resort to criticising her appearance instead. Telling.

It baffles me that les women like Sandi can agree with the erasure of the idea of lesbianism. It's a new version of "if you just met the right man..."

Hey Jonathon. Riddle me this. Why do trans women all look the same? I mean they all look like weird men in cheap wigs and trashy clothing. And they have a perverted air. I wouldn’t want to hang out in a pub with them.

Watching Reboot on Disney+ and a gay character in his 20s says to a late-30s les, "no one says les any more" with a look of mild disgust. It's been an even-handed programme so far (generation clash writing a sitcom). That comment was just one of the drip-drips in society and culture of removing language. It's not as if language has evolved and we have a new word exclusively for lesbians. I don't think the writers put it in as a statement, I think it was to say we're already accepting that lesbianism is gone (replaced by queerness) and not realising how damaging that is.
