On Mae Martin's Wikipedia page it says she was sexually abused, possibly grape, as a teenager during the years she was estranged from her parents. They'd kicked her out due to drinking and drugs but she mentioned them on Taskmaster so they seem to have a better relationship now. Would that experience have been looked at properly before allowing her to go ahead with surgery? Or would it be classed as "conversion therapy" to question if there's a link between past sexual assault and not wanting to look female any more?

Almost no-one is able to look non-binary. I can't think of any successful examples. You might confuse people in passing, but everyone gives themselves away in conversation or close up.

I get not wanting your work or worth as a human being based on your sex, but it's impossible to hide.

So, another day, and another insult to women by the BBC. They have opened up a training course they've set up to increase the number of female camera operators to 'females (and those identifying as female':

If they are seriously interested in increasing the number of women who are camera operators, then the course should be limited to women and not include men who say that they are women. I'm seriously beyond being tired of this crap.

There won't be 1 woman on it. The bbc have only inaugurated it to get box-tickers.

Mae Martin isn’t a les. There is no issue with being bisexual of course, but she occupies cultural space / space in the perception of others as a les without being one (which annoys me).

What she has said about “microdosing” with testosterone is worrying misinformation for any young people who look up to her.

Incidentally, in my experience a lot of FtMs and female “non-binaries” are not lesbians and often date men (the biological kind).

Edit: has she had “top” surgery? Sigh.

They don’t want us to have anything do they? Not even our pain! I’m 60 years old and I’ve never felt more afraid, depressed, hopeless about women’s rights. FFS our very right to exist is under threat. What a bleeping time to be alive.

Maybe he’s just a rabid TRA and I’ve seen a lot of him on Twitter over the last few years.

At least we don’t have to wonder whether he has genuine intentions when it comes to this job… he clearly just wants to trample over women.

It's disgusting. I can't get my head around how anyone thought it was an appropriate role for a man to take up. Even as an actual woman, I wouldn't dream of taking such a position when I don't suffer with endo.

That's the thing about endo, it takes an average of 7 years for a woman to be diagnosed and it can only be seen if you have surgery.

Sorry this is off topic, but those of you diagnosed with Endo, does the pain lessen after meno? What happens to any adhesions already formed? I’ve read differing accounts.

Sorry this is off topic, but those of you diagnosed with Endo, does the pain lessen after meno? What happens to any adhesions already formed? I’ve read differing accounts.

It's a different kind of pain after menopause, possibly because there's no lining being shed?
I had stage 4 endo which means it had adhered to a few internal organs, I've had a fair bit removed including from my bowel and pancreas. I still have chronic pelvic pain and nausea even after a hysterectomy.
Adhesions can still form if you have any part of an ovary left, apparently.
I'm lucky I have a very good GP, he's better at dealing with me than some female doctors have been.

Thanks @MaineCoonMama . I’ve never been diagnosed because I do not want investigative surgeries but I have had so many awful long-term symptoms since being a teenager that point to Endo including rectal bleeding and kidney pain associated with menstruating. I reckon I have some adhesions too.

I’m waiting for a trans man to be appointed CEO of an erectile dysfunctional charity ….. I mean what’s good for the goose etc
