The nearest Pride to me tanked last time I was in town when it was on. I think it's because the local gay demographic skews more towards married or cohabiting couples with a mortgage and a whippet (or a French bulldog) than to activist types.
I'm sure some of those married whippet-owning couples are into leather and all sorts behind closed doors, but they probably like keeping it as a nice naughty secret, and have strong enough identities not to need special flags about it.

Better breakdown of the 41% statistic here. TL;DR yes, lots of them have mental health problems and attempt suicide for this reason but the figure of 41% is based on very flawed data
I've always questioned why they rely on this statistic so much. If you are part of a group of people that wants to argue that they're competent to make serious medical decions and their identity is not a trend or mental illness, etc. why would you then in the next breath say "but we attempt suicide at huge rates!"

Some women want to do whatever they want with their own bodies including inducing abortion at any stage outside of the law that suits them, to be a good woman these days according to some you need to advocate for and be sympathetic towards this type of thing

Everyone is allowed an opinion and I believe that it is fully possible to be pro choice and support women’s rights to an abortion BUT see that aborting a 30+ week old foetus illegally is a completely different situation.
Personally I believe in safe, legal abortion available to all women. Do I support what this woman did? No. Do I support what the company involved did? No.
Does that make me a bad woman? Probably.
One of my friends is a trans man (TiF), I've only known him as someone who has lived as male so I'll use "he" here.
He used to be very into sport but gave it up when he started identifying as trans. He now volunteers for a girls football team as a coach and helps run the club. None of the boys clubs were interested in having him on board but the girls club didn't bat an eyelid. He's about 5'2 and despite years of surgery and hormones, you still know he is ultimately female.
You can do everything by the book when it comes to transitioning but women will never be accepted as men. They will always be seen as female no matter what you claim to be.

My husband is friendly with a "non-binary" woman who is, to put it politely, unstable - mental health problems, substance abuse, suicidal feelings, you know the drill. She started on testosterone and then had a mastectomy not too long ago, we rarely see her as she lives in the USA but he follows her on social media and not long ago I see her complaining that people still read her as a woman and call her "ma'am" and she had thought having her breasts removed would solve this but it didn't. Well that is because you are a woman and still look like one - a flat-chested woman, but a woman

I have sympathy for this woman and what she went through precisely because I am a mother (and a mother of kids with additional needs, like her). I feel a real sense of visceral horror for what she went through and the awful circumstances leading up to it. I really don’t think this situation is as clear cut as people are making out - a feckless, irresponsible, cold-hearted woman killing her baby when she could have given it up for adoption. No one knows her life situation but I suspect it wasn’t good, to put it lightly.
I am pro-choice. No woman should be forced to give birth.
Do I think it’s OK to abort a third trimester pregnancy at home? No. Of course I don’t.
Do I think jail is a suitable punishment? Also no.
I think it’s total balls to say that to be a good woman or feminist you support abortion for any reason and at any point in pregnancy. I know some extremists argue for that but I think of it more as an ideological standpoint (women deserve bodily autonomy at all times) than genuinely glorifying the termination of full term pregnancies.
It’s just so sad to see the level of internalised misogyny with these girls and women who are desperate to not be seen as female. Like it’s the worst thing in the world. Like Elliot Page, there is not a person on this planet who looks at her and genuinely sees her as male. Even the simpering handmaidens. We all know she will ultimately always be female, no matter what pronouns she prefers or how short she cuts her hair.
I was out in Edinburgh at the weekend (blue hair central) and saw so many young women with T-shirts on that said trans or non binary across them. And massive ‘they/them’ patches on their shirts or jackets. And they obviously had the obligatory blue or pink hair. I just thought you are now having to walk about with your ‘identity’ plastered all over a tshirt. Why do they think their identity is so special and important that they have to display it like that. Do they want a medal? And of course every one of them looks depressed as hell. You look around and other young people were just enjoying the sunshine. I just wanted to say go and wear whatever the hell you like and drop the whole non binary schtick and just enjoy your life. And get over yourself. Obviously I just said that to my friends that were with me who all agreed. It’s such a fad, I think the cringe level for people growing out of this in years to come will be high. And if they’ve gone as far as having a double mastectomy
it’ll be more than just cringing at your old style

I think you’re maybe angling for a gotcha situation, in which me saying “no one should be forced to give birth” equates to “very late term abortion should be permissible”.
Think about it. When a woman finds herself pregnant and doesn’t want to be, the least traumatic option for her is to seek a termination as early as possible. No woman is blithely dithering around for 7 or 8 months trying to figure out if she wants the baby or not. No one chooses to inflict the horror of a late termination on themselves, having to give birth to a dead baby, unless the circumstances are dire. Usually it’s because the baby has a serious genetic issue or condition incompatible with life. And, usually, that happens quite soon after the NHS anomaly scan at 20 weeks.
The fact the woman in the news this week is a complete outlier, who slipped through the net, is simply that - an outlier. There will always be outliers because humans are imperfect, make the wrong decisions and do the wrong thing.
Even mothers who have snapped and killed their children in tragic and desperate circumstances weren’t imprisoned (thinking of Olga Freeman and Tania Clarence, for example).

She was 32-34 weeks pregnant, she had to give birth regardless. The point where she had that choice was long past.
Prisons are full of people that have mitigating circumstances, that carried out a crime because they were mentally unwell or under extreme pressure financially or emotionally, that doesn't mean that they shouldn't get a custodial sentence and this is no different. It's sad and I have no doubt she has suffered mentally from her decision but there are consequences and she knew what she was doing was wrong.
Pleading guilty at an earlier point would have gotten her a suspended sentence.
