That's a phrase I hate too 'educate yourself'. Always spoken by an absolute knuckle-dragging thicko.

God, I just want to scream “THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GENDER IDENTITY!” 24/7 but I feel I would be taken away from my family. When rare trans people who have had surgery say they felt so uncomfortable with their sex, genitals, body etc, they needed to transition, does that not mean, “I am uncomfortable being male/female. I need therapy to address this awful, all consuming body dysphoria.”

I don’t have full blown body dysmorphia but I go through stages where I am genuinely obsessed with certain parts of my face, sending photos to people, comparing, researching surgery, fillers etc. Have once researched areola reduction as I was convinced they were too big (that phase is over after children and they’re now like digestive biscuits anyway). No one else can see the issues. I’m told I’m being daft and stop being so vain, etc etc. If I went to my GP and demanded all of the procedures I have coveted, I would be told to seek therapy. Most likely private.

I'm the same re body dysmorphia. Once couldn't look at myself in the mirror for six months. Genuinely thought I had the most grotesque body going and nobody would ever love me. A feeling of inherent "wrongness" in my own body, like I was fundamentally different to everyone else and "not a real person".

When I googled it, specifically when I researched why I couldn't look at old photos of myself because I didn't recognise myself and it made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and "wonky", I got lots of results of trans people talking about the same thing.

Nobidy affirmed me. I went to therapy. My therapist told me, quite forcefully, that I'm normal looking, possibly even attractive 🤣, that I'd had a traumatic childhood and likely had some form of PTSD, hence the identity disturbances.

I've been in the LGBT community since forever and have a lot of empathy for the struggles of gender non confirming people, but the desire to cut a functioning rooster off is no different to the desire to remove a functioning foot. It's insane we affirm this madness.

So, people defending Mermaids and Breslow keep saying he’s just an academic and there’s no evidence to suggest he’s actually a p*edo and has harmed kids…

Do you think non-p*edos would be inclined to tattoo an image of a naked young boy onto themselves?

When I said Mermaids won’t be operating by 2025, I think I’m going to revise that. It will cease operating by January. The game is up, I think.

If I see a physically disabled trans person, I automatically assume they are faking it. Our ex gym ****** was allegedly blind, white stick, black glasses etc when someone asked me if I realised he was blind, I retorted that he thought he was a woman so it wasn't beyond the realms of possibility that he might 'think' he is blind!
Entirely possible, years ago I worked in a post office we had a customer who used to pretend he was blind.

How can we support her? I buy every book she writes but what more can I do?
I always tweet and let her know how much she's appreciated. Whether she sees it or not, I don't know but I do it anyway. Most people in the public eye would have buckled long before now.

Mermaids seem to be saying they have closed their "helpline" because of abuse.

They may be confusing people objecting to their practices as abuse.

They may have done zero background checks on volunteers

Volunteers may have left a sinking ship

They could be under pressure from CC to close shop but are trying to save face.

Interesting

Furore about Mrs Brown's Boys apparently being 'transphobic' as it's a man playing a woman, What a beautiful irony and chance for them to be hoisted by their own petard. By definition then, being trans is transphobic and drag queens should be banned. All the bleeping lolz.
