Sturgeon is not interested in independence whatsoever and it has been clear for a good number of years. I have been a member and supporter of the SNP since the late 80's but it was clear since her early tenure that she has no interest in independence. She has transformed it from a party with a lot of voices into a cult of personality with her as the leader. She has surrounded herself with willing idiots and the power has been taken away from the ordinary members and given to the NEC which is peopled with gender woo woo disciples.

On the US question despite continually saying that people need to vote SNP to stop the conservatives privatising the NHS it obviously ignores the fact that health is devolved in Scotland. Sturgeon herself gave a private talk a number of years ago in Stirling castle at a private event hosted by an American company who then subsequently won millions in contracts from NHS Scotland.

With regards to her private finances with her husband the CEO of the SNP the two of them probably clear before tax around 250k a year between them. She will step down in about 3-5 years with Scotland no closer to independence in the hope that some job in the UN or another organisation comes up for grabs. This is why she speaks so much on international affairs (it also detracts from domestic fuck ups) and even had a grant given to a book publisher to publish a book of her speeches.
Why did Sturgeon join the SNP if she’s not interested in independence? Genuinely curious, and I don’t follow Scottish politics close enough.

Anyone else see the Bank of England’s new logo. They have been Stonewalled
I think it’s just the flag/shield that changed (from English to the Union Jack) to be more inclusive of the “union”? I’m Welsh so it means nothing to me 😂 Wales isn’t even part of the flag!

Watching those tiktok videos - I think he’s taking the piss. The actual trans videos I’ve seen are much more aggressive, and earnest and self pitying and misogynistic. He’s having too much fun with it, because it’s a big joke.

If he turns out to be really TiM I will take that back, I thought it was a funny parody of these people.

Unfortunately this thread shockingly reeks of transphobia. Some of the views on this page are deplorable. I thought this was a place for sharing opinions but to my mistake, I didn’t quite get the context of this thread.

delaying puberty is imperative for those with gender identity issues. Those that go through puberty for the ‘wrong’ gender experience immense dysphoria.

as for ‘men born men should use men’s bathrooms’ and vice versa as quoted further up this page - wow. I hope none of you on this thread ever experience the loss of a relative from gender identity issues as a consequence of these ignorant views.

(also to add, quoting someone else’s opinion does not add to your argument at all.)
BTW gender dysphoria isn't needed to be trans just check with Stonewall

In terms of the increase in 'trans kids' (and this extends to trans people in general) I suppose a factor is also that what it means to be trans has changed -- the bar is so low for what it is to be trans.

I could ID right this second as non-binary, and I would be considered trans. 🤷‍♀️
As could I if I borrowed my husbands coat if I forgot mine. Presumably I'd now need a detransistioner due to the fact that I no longer feel the need to wear mens t-shirts to the gym as I can fit in my own t-shirts again.

Do these idiots think that gay, trans and non-white people have just been sat at home indoors? Why would we need telling that we can go hiking? Oddly regressive and actually quite homophobic, transphobic and racist if you think about it.

I just noticed that it doesn't actually mention race, but like you my mind had just automatically assumed it did because it nearly always does. After all there are few groups more disgusting than white cishets!

Shona Robison is a straw haired moron who is so far up Nicola Sturgeon's arse you don't know where she starts and NS ends.

I've never felt more depressed to be Scottish. I'd happily look for work down south but I couldn't bear to be far from my mum, who's nearly 68. My only hope is this nonsense legislation is challenged legally, Joanna Cherry already denouncing it as possibly breaking the law.
The amount of times this government has been told by their legal team that violates X law but they just plow on regardless is staggering

Here is some data on race and poverty in the UK, for anyone who genuinely believes that white people are at a major disadvantage in a country that is almost 90% white: https://irr.org.uk/research/statistics/poverty/

Yes, there are a lot of problems with the current prevalent discourse on race, but let's not get carried away.
that only tells part of the picture as you would expect any recent migrant groups to be at the bottom when it comes to income.

So sad to be living in Scotland. Just looked at the shameonscotland hashtag on Twitter and oh my, it’s depressing. People calling us hateful, transphobic, bigots etc. Talk about gaslighting women who are concerned about the safety of women and girls. And a lot of the posts are from women. I’ll never understand how protecting women means you’re a transphobe. I have nothing against trans people, live how you want, I don’t care! I’m all for people who are gender non confirming, as a woman I don’t follow the stereotypes of wearing make up and dresses, it’s just not me. It does not make me a man. It does not make me non binary. I’m a woman and there is more than one way to be a woman.

Said it before but I’ve never been so glad I don’t have a daughter. I would worry for her out in the world. If girls say they are uncomfortable changing in front of a boy (who thinks he’s a girl), she will be gaslit and called a transphobe. How did we get here?

Re the political debate....

I want to vote Green....mainly because I do care about Climate issues and ruining our planet for future generations, and I am a woman and interested in women's rights and womens history. I am so disappointed that the Green Women, has been totally ruined by the stupid arguments about Trans rights. I am so torn, because I was taught that in a democracy it is important to vote and give an opinon, but what do you do when political parties cant accept some fundamental rights, eg a womans right to be a woman, and not be called 'cis' which to me is like a swear word, and totally meaningless.

Where did the word 'cis ' come from? does it stand for anything? eg....Central I rrigation S ystem?

Is some of this Gender critical stuff, related to age? And a deliberate misunderstanding between generations of women? P;art of the cult of worshiping the young and ignoring the old?

This is interesting....are they a real and credible party? But this definition of trans rights is great....why cant the labour party or Green party adopt something like this?
No only get a few thousand votes in total
