I would suggest that removing body parts is just a sign of the severity of the mental illness.

Not when you convince yourself it’s a lady pen. Not when you’re AGP and you’re horny all the time. Some even convince themselves that taking cross sex hormones gives them wonderful “female orgasms”.
There is no need and I assume we are talking about trans woman here. This myth that there is violence is just that a total myth not backed up by any crime statistics. Why would they not be safe in the majority of work toilets, or at the theatre, or university or pretty much anywhere.
Wil Lia m (see what he did there?) is never going to have any ops. At best he is a fake and at worst he is an AGP. No benefit to him to lose that rooster either way
This picture makes me want to weep. And I guarantee you that these three young women are going to be harassed for grouping together like this in a show of solidarity. They'll be raked over the coals for not gushing over LT or welcoming him into their winner's circle.
Glortard thank you for speaking up. I have kept out of this thread as I promised. But have listened to your thoughts and long known - and a group of us wrote about this 3 or 4 years ago - that sport would peak the world because men would suddenly notice when they had not cared before about when it rarely impacted them.
Cheating is cheating. This is clearly that. Lots of transsexuals have spoken openly against this out there on Twitter in the past few days. Me included. Transgender are being notably quiet. As they must know what we all know but are too sucked into their ideology to call it out.
I hope it actually peaks some of them back towards sense. Might be at least one good outcome of all this.
A couple of years ago I had a conversation with a pro tennis player whose coach transitoned years ago and played in women's tournaments. They had said it was their biggest regret as - being post op they felt they could continue playing but soon knew it was a mistake as their muscle mass and build gave them a big edge and they regretted quickly and were speaking out against it.
She became a coach teaching young women how to win using her experience in a positive way. That is exactly what this person could have done and I suspect what they would have done if transsexual as they very clearly still have a very male perspective on sport meaning the urge to win at all cost oozes out of them.
The transsexuals I know and have spoken too about this seem to say they would here NOT compete but find another way to use their ability to help others succeed. Thus keeping a link with sport without relishing in crushing women. Which is so blatant here.

Do trans people really need their own competition space? Hopefully this phase will die down and the numbers of children we see being pushed into being trans will fade and we can legislate to stop the predatory pervs so that leaves a small number of what I’ve heard termed ‘genuine’ trans people. I suspect very very few are actually inclined or of the ability to compete in elite sports.
Love this. I’ve seen this argument thrown around a lot - that the female swimmers should boycott and if they don’t, they’re complicit. It’s always the women at fault.
Trans people need to understand - outside of the affirmative hugbox of their rainbow-haired peers - that transitioning will curtail many opportunities in life. Dating & relationships, good health and competitive sport is at the top of the list.

The genital surgeries seem to be fraught with risk and complication and so I don't think people with dysphoria should be really pushed into them.
However, you don't get much the impression that Lia is necessarily a dysphoric person.
In hindsight, sex change operation pisses me off as a term because it suggests that a sex change has taken place. Before I got into looking into this stuff, I had casually thought it really did result in a sex change (I had never properly considered what sex is and thus why we are unable to change it.) So articles that claim that Lia has in the last year transitioned to a woman are really muddying the waters.

I knew a TiM quite a few years back, we were quite friendly. I got a bit drunk one night and we spoke about his surgeries (he'd had them in Thailand) - he said that he couldn't wait to lose the pen. I said about the facial surgeries and he told me they were just a bonus -for him it was the pen he wanted gone. He had serious mental health issues though and really that should have been sorted before any surgeries were performed, in my opinion.
I bet in 3 years time Lia will be back to being Will.

Yup I agree that wil LIA m just wants to win an Olympic medal! But it is incredibly unfair. Those poor girls he was competing against!
It will be interesting to see how it falls if someone with obvious cis male benefits, of extra height, feet, legs and shoulders .. compared to all the other cis women swimmers they compete against, is able to get away with it?
( I absolutely detest the word cis ....but......I cant think of how else to describe the cis male benefits Wil LIA m has from being born male! and how these apply to cis womens sporting events!)
Or if there will be so many complaints against the entire USA swimming team that the Olympic committee have to think again, and sort this out with a bit more fairness!

I really hate that word cis. Woman and man is absolutely fine as it has even for thousands of years. By saying cis we are redefining ourselves against trans people.

if I am being kind......part of me feels sad that poor Lia Thomas felt such awful gender dysphoria..that they had no choice but to start their transition. And if their choice to live as a different gender, didnt affect anyone else, I wouldnt really care at all.
But I am not sure how or why the mental health professionals advising Lia, suggested that she should still continue to swim competitively. Especially when swimming, her previous cis born natal male characteristics , of height, shoulders etc are so obvious. It cant be good for her mental health for this to be constantly commented on. Nor is it likely to be positive for the press to be talking about her still having her male pen whilst changing in the female changing rooms
But maybe this needs to be commented on....to allow for a proper handicap, similar to those used in horse racing , to alleviate the benefit of height shoulder size etc. Maybe lia should be competing with a time penalty or something like extra weights on a belt around her waist, to eliminate her natal birth advantages?
And as for toilets, whats the issue with continuing to have seperate male and female toilets, but just increase the number of disabled toilets, or family toilets, that can also be gender neutral?
My issue with same sex toilets, is that of cleanliness........if you ever work with small boys, they seem to delight in spraying urine everywhere, so single same sex toilets can be a real pain for getting a class of young children ready before lunch, ie whole class, does wash hands and go to the toilet........you have to check and clean up between each child. I would have thought adult men would have learnt better aim, but the smell in male toilets....would suggest not.

He hasn’t got gender dysphoria. Come on! Apparently he’s also prone to getting his rooster out and parading naked in the changing rooms. As for ‘transitioning’…all he’s done is grow his hair and start wearing a one piece swimsuit. As someone has already said, I bet he’s back to being a man once his swimming career is on the skids unless he can (literally) muscle in on something else that is only open to women.
I’m done with being kind. There’s no “ poor Lia” he’s just a big entitled, smirking, cheating male unit who has no sense of fair play. I think you have some sympathy for him, carefully using the feminine pronouns and worrying about his well being, even to suggesting that women’s sport is changed to accommodate trans advantages.
I used to think a third option, gender neutral toilets would work. But it wouldn’t. TiM would mostly always want the women’s spaces for validation, for sexual arousal, for sexual assault.
