JK Rowling has been absolutely on fire the past couple of days, but this has made me hoot.

I’m so glad I’m stumbling across more and more GC spaces with women chatting!

i watched a documentary on YouTube called Dysphoric that really opened my eyes to everything going on.

i used to be in a womens only child free group on Facebook. I was in an abusive relationship at the time and because of my partners criminal past had decided that I never wanted to get married or have children. I’ll spare details because I don’t want to upset any women in this thread

because of his abusive nature I ended up pregnant. I decided to document my abortion journey in the group to help other women - especially as a lot of them lived internationally and had bought abortion pills online or had crappy experiences at the doctors and knew nothing about what to expect. I described what happened at my various appointments and what happened when I took the medication that terminated the pregnancy as well as the many upsetting and confusing feelings that came with terminating a pregnancy I absolutely didn’t want.

well in my final post to the group, I was detailing how I felt after a few months had passed and I get a random comment from someone who was clearly a man with a bald head explaining to me that I should be on birth control or not having sex if I didn’t want to get pregnant (completely ignoring that the pregnancy was actually a result of an assault). This person was named something like Tracy or Trudy. Assuming this man troll had accidently slipped through into the womens group I flagged it upto the moderators for him to be removed.

My messages and reports went ignored and this person was able to remain in the group. It turned out that this individual “identified” as a woman and was allowed access to a womens only childfree space, many of the women in this group were lesbians, bisexual or had previously been assaulted by men and wanted a space where they were safe to interact without male onlookers.

shortly after debates broke out as Trudy/ Tracy/ whoever’s comments were noticed by several members. The moderators agreed that this safe space also included trans women and that we essentially wernt allowed to correct these people even when they injected themselves into comments women were having about highly sensitive female subjects. The group became divided with many women firmly on the side of trans women, even offering up their uterus to transplant to a trans woman who couldn’t have her own babies (??? What about actual women that cant?). It literally became madness and any woman who said anything otherwise was called out and banned from the group. Every trans woman in the group was heralded some kind of hero and the girls fell at their feet to praise them.

i found the whole thing immensely upsetting, deleted all of my abortion related posts and made an entirely new account to escape these people. I can’t believe that they felt they couldn’t shut a man down who shoved his way into a womens only space and criticised me after I had a termination and judged me for it, when I was especially trying to help other woman. There were other women there battling many issues (some of the women wernt childfree by choice but because of medical conditions)

these freaks don’t deserve access to our spaces, there’s so few places where you can talk openly with other woman about what’s happening to you, what your going through and how to deal with it. But we’re bending over backwards to accommodate men in our spaces? It makes me sick.

anyway I’ll resume my usual petty threads on these boards. I’m glad there are so many women waking upto this nonsense.

“Experiencing menstruation as a trans person is bizarre because all of the horrible experiences that some cisgender women claim ‘make them a woman’ are experienced by trans men and nonbinary people daily. Even some trans women get monthly period cramps after being on hormone replacement therapy (HRT).”

This person has a degree in neuroscience 😱

I actually shouted out loud at my phone NO THEY DON’T!

What an absolute insult to women. Honestly makes me shake with rage. How can a woman who has suffered such horrendous gynaecological issues say that? I just don’t understand. What they get is NOT A PERIOD. They do not have a uterus and will never know what period cramps and having periods feel like. Only biological females know.

They are happy to do all the flag waving in but probably not so happy to pick up all the pieces when it all goes horribly wrong.

I'm quite grateful to Lia Thomas to be honest. The disgraceful scenes of women getting second and third places behind a man at a women's swim meet has properly peaked the men in my household. My husband has been horrified by what he's seen, we both watched the weightlifter at the Olympics, but he didn't realise that men competing in women's sports was actually an ongoing issue, he thought it was just a virtue-signalling gesture at the Olympics, not that young women were going to actually have to compete against a man at their college sports events.

My son and his girlfriend are full-on woke. They have a ftm friend, who has had top surgery, they're full of praise and admiration for his "bravery" etc, etc. I love my son's girlfriend, but I don't want to speak to her about it, she'd probably just think I was an old terf, who has outdated ideas. But my son and I are close and we've had some interesting discussions on this. He was quite shocked to hear about the weirdo pervert who managed to wrangle a position of authority in the Guides, until outed on Twitter with photos brandishing a gun and wearing fetish clothing. He hadn't heard about the rape crisis centre in Scotland, currently being run by a man. He wasn't aware of the possible long-term damage inflicted onto children by doctors at the Tavistock and other gender clinics around the world. And he does understand my concerns at having men in changing-rooms and public restrooms, spaces that are supposed to be set aside for women to use.

Lia Thomas is doing women a huge public service. Just not in the way that he thinks.

I couldn’t care less about people talking about conspiracy theories so guess what? It’s not a thread I’d ever go on. You’d think the same would go for people who don’t care for this thread instead of reading it and then complaining about it. There is less hate in this thread than some of the influencer ones. Some of those are awfully misogynistic with millions of references to fishy smells and saggy boobs etc. This thread is a group of adult, mainly pretty left wing/liberal women with concerns about female spaces and sports, erasure of female-centric language and medicating and operating on children unnecessarily. Some observations on the backwardness of the whole trans movement eg most of it is regressive BS, might seem ‘hateful’ to some people but that’s about it?!

This picture makes me want to weep. And I guarantee you that these three young women are going to be harassed for grouping together like this in a show of solidarity. They'll be raked over the coals for not gushing over LT or welcoming him into their winner's circle. ☹😤

If this thread is transphobic look back and see I have expressed many similar thoughts within it. As I am a near 50 year since post op transsexual who has for years seen this current mess coming and spoken out about it before it arrived. And was hounded off other sites BY transgender people who have rude names for transsexuals like me too. Not just women. Then I can give a possible unique perspective as to why it is not.

I try to keep out of here as I was asked to do and quite understand why. But I needed to say to you that airing an opinion is not transphobia from someone who ought to know.

Being trans cannot be some mystical above the law status that cannot be questioned, It is a contentious thing and people will have differing views about it. That will be true forever and any trans person needs to know that or they will be hating the world forever. If they cannot live with disagreement they need to rethink transition and maybe see why being assessed by a psychiatrst up front is not a barrier but a pretty obvious necessity they want to toss away via self ID.

I do not agree with everything said in here - obviously - who does? It is a debate. Nobody ever agrees in debates,, It is their purpose to find consensus But I know the threat from current activism better than anyone as I can see in so many ways why they are wrongheaded in their approach and why women should be concerned by what the consequences of self ID will be. I can. They can. Transgender ideology seemingly cannot.

The dangerous stupidity of that hospital thinking lies are more important than a woman raped and any sport letting that swimmer cheat young women out of medals is way worse than any barbed words that might hurt a boy named Sue - which if a transperson collapses at their use againstf them is exactly why they maybe should rethink transition and not self declare what their sex is on line. If not they will react badly to anyone who disagrees. And there will always be disagreement in these matters. And they will live in mistery. They ARE controversial. Rightly so. Live with it. You do not have a monopoly on being right. Nobody does.

Transphobia exists in some places. But discussion on what to do to get things right is not it. Though it may upset those with a fragile gender identity which appears to only exist when sprinkled with magic fairy dust from the validation fragrance range.

Sorry again for intruding. As I promised I only will post if I think I have something to say that nobody else could. As I think this was.

One day… ONE fucking day for women, and trans women aka males are all over it. Fuck off and stick to the 354 days of the year you’re fawned over, leave our one day alone. Raging.

Ok, just need to point out something I’ve just seen and it’s made me raging.

Adverts are on. The new Always advert comes on, featuring young girls talking aboutperiod shaming. The ad says ‘61% of YOUNG PEOPLE experience period shame’. YOUNG PEOPLE. Not girls. No. YOUNG PEOPLE.

Next advert on directly after it for Gillette men’s razors. Slogan? The best a MAN can get.

Tell me AGAIN that women are not being erased. It’s so insidious, but won’t be too long before it’ll be illegal to say women and girls 😣

In case anyone has missed it today, JK Rowling has been magnificent on Twitter. Handed Laurie Penny’s arse to her and it was bloody joyous.

I agree with that, nothanksbabes.

This whole validation thing seems to exist out there is so agressively enforcing itself that falsity was what first made me realise something strange was going on. And whatever it was just felt off. As if you go around demanding others must validate you at every turn then your whole life is simply a quest for being seen as something you appear to know in yourself that you are not and likely a sign of a fragile ego or even uncertainty that you have maybe made a mistake.

Why I feel so strongly about the necessity of gatekeeping and a lengthy period of psychoanalysis and exploration of all options. Not because I want to deny anyone's freedom to do as they choose but because I know that choice ends up being irreversible to a large degree and has to be the right one so should never be rushed. As trans people often lie to themselves so hard I suspect they end up believing their own illusion. But you cannot fake being you. And if people only see someone else not what you think is the real you then they are bound to let that slip even if they are trying to be kind. Nobody can keep up a pretence forever.

I have found that the happiest transitions seem to be those where the person just appreciates with thanks that they are finally free to live life and just embrace that. Only a fragile ego needs to have their identity reinforced at the point of a pronoun. And living as trans with a fragile ego is a recipe for a breakdown sooner or later.

Of course, in those days it was easier as we all just transitioned to disappear into ordinary lives. Doctors only put through around one in ten cases who came to them as they were looking for stability and awareness of reality and that ability to adjust to life and be accepted by society. Few of us wanted to be recognised in life for being trans as they all seem to want to seek nowadays. Or do subconsciously by all they say and do.

But if you thrive on being trans as if it is your reason to be then you are going to get recognised as that and be misgenered by those who have a different perspective on what that means than you do. Nobody with an ego that would break at the sound of a wrong pronoun would have got through the filters then. Now there are no filters so that inner wrath - built I suspect partly on insecurity that they realise they are trying to live an illusion - just spews out in everyone's face.

Back then you had agree in writing pre surgery that you would be accommodated socially as women but would not legally become one. Though they did do a lot to help you live normally - changing records happemed long before the GRA. And also, if employed, in those days you still got paid less and were subject to other social expectations. Unless you wanted to out yourself. Which nobody did. Nor would they dream of causing a fuss.

I cannot imagine many of today's fragile ego transgender people would have ever transitioned into that world decades before the GRA existed. We did as we had no choice. We had already tried most of the options proposed. We were just grateful to be what we were able to be and disappearing was the point. Not appearing and demanding the whole world turn at your command. Being over dysphoria was enough.

Those of us still around from that era are so far adrift of what trans is today that we feel entirely alienated. Whatever they are doing it is not working and successful only in making more people see them and doubt them. And I guess as a consequence see us.

But as a strategy it is a pretty rubbish plan.

Anyhow thank you all for listening politely, I so appreciate that. And if you ever want to ask any questions - feel free. Nothing off the table. And I will answer as honestly as I can.

Th

Unfortunately this thread shockingly reeks of transphobia. Some of the views on this page are deplorable. I thought this was a place for sharing opinions but to my mistake, I didn’t quite get the context of this thread.

delaying puberty is imperative for those with gender identity issues. Those that go through puberty for the ‘wrong’ gender experience immense dysphoria.

as for ‘men born men should use men’s bathrooms’ and vice versa as quoted further up this page - wow. I hope none of you on this thread ever experience the loss of a relative from gender identity issues as a consequence of these ignorant views.

(also to add, quoting someone else’s opinion does not add to your argument at all.)

Oh, honey. No. The time for accusing women of transphobia is over. The tide is turning. Look at the news over the weekend. Lia Thomas. The rape by a transwoman being denied. Tavistock whistleblowers. People are wising up. You’ve yelled “bigots! Transphobes!” for too long now; the scales are finally falling from the general public’s eyes.
