He really doesn't like women.

It's very transparent.

It's easy to conclude why a group of feminist women might be wary of or oppose changes to the Gender Recognition Act, since it concerns us directly.

When men are preoccupied with it, what other goal is there apart from shutting women up? People like him are part of the reason why man of us who were either ambivalent or actively "twaw" have moved I to gender critical analysis, because of it looks and sounds like garden variety misogyny, it probably is.

Yep. I was very hairy (thankfully not PCOS), spent a fortune removing hair from my face, still spend a lot of time and effort removing hair from the rest of me. I'm very fair with black hair too so it was noticeable.

Consultant said, "sorry, its just the way you are and cosmetic".

No "gender affirming" treatment for me. I still flinch if anyone touches my face even though (expensive) laser treatment has got rid of about 90% of the hair.

Pregnant person just doesn’t sound ‘normal’ in everyday speech. I know it’s a script but they tend to use pretty typical lifelike speech (apart from the dramatic parts which no one in real life would ever say as they’re just too cringeworthy!).
Think it was Emm who said, just saying ‘pregnant’ would make more sense like, ‘I’ve been walking around looking pregnant all week!’ or something like that. Literally no one used ‘pregnant PERSON’ until a couple of years ago. Think that’s why it jarred as much as just the odd sounding phrase.

What other mental illness is treated in accordance with the patient's beliefs? 'Ok, so you have gender dysphoria, why not dress as a woman?'

No one in society encourages those with an eating disorder to carry on, no one encourages those with delusions. It's the same thing to me.

Why not attempt to treat the root cause?

I’ve just read it and found it really upsetting. Just imagine how terrified CF would have felt, being relentlessly stalked and harassed like that. I actually wasn’t aware of half of the things Harrop did. Visiting the American embassy to get her visa cancelled? The numerous times he hinted that he was in her town, or at least close by? He is a genuinely sick and twisted individual.

It's just another way for men to harass women, except they can frame it as "the right side of history" or whatever.

I bet there are many people who think Harrop is an hole outside of his Twitter echo chamber. No decent person does what he's done.

I have mixed feelings on the Harrop outcome. On the one hand, it was feasible that he would get no sanction at all, and it is quite rare for the GMC to suspend anyone. So short as it is, even a one month suspension is quite symbolic and as others have said he will be extremely restricted in his practice moving forward. It's no bad thing IMO that he will basically be stuck at this trans clinic or whatever it is for the next 10 years; at least he's not going to be involved in providing care to women anymore (except trans ones which I imagine he has no issue with anyway). On the other hand, a month doesn't seem very long and it almost begs the question as to why they bothered. It's interesting he didn't bother appealing though, that makes me think he's been advised that he got off lightly too.

I think in practice it'll be longer than a month as he'll have to re-register as a GP (I think - just paraphrasing what I've read elsewhere).

Amanda Jette Knox, who's now "non-binary" so that she won't be attacked again as a "cis" woman speaking over trans people, is now bragging that when she goes out with her transwoman spouse "I'm the one who gets misgendered!" I wanted to know more about the actual consequences of having a suspension on a doctor’s GMC record, because I honestly didn’t know. It sounds like one month of gardening leave to us laypeople, but it does seem to be a bigger punishment than that.

It does sound like this suspension has huge consequences for his career going forward. He’ll apparently struggle to move on from the GP practice he’s currently at (they supported him) so it looks like a career at a trans clinic sterilising kids is his best long term bet

I hope this whole sterilising trans children ends soon so he is totally out of work and unable to move elsewhere

I think she means the spin is coming from trans women who look in the mirror and think they look like women.
It's definitely not like gardening leave, I believe he will have to declare it to any jobs he applies for for the next 10 years and 'misconduct' is bad. What I am surprised about is that he was so bold as to say he wasn't aware of the codes of ethics etc the GMC sets down and they only gave him a month. I know for a fact those are on the GMC syllabi for all approved medicine degrees so it doesn't reflect well on wherever he went to med school tbh.

The last point is exceptionally ironic before any "medical professionals" take umbrage however it is slowly getting there sadly

I did my MA about 6 years ago (in a different English speaking country) and there were woman (younger than me, I had taken a few years off to work after my undergrad) but that were getting their breasts cut off as some kind of political statement. I was horrified, I had never heard anything like it

Yes I personally have used them and loved them since they first launched. Affordable, eco friendly ., come in lots of great scents,, and for once actually a natural deodrant that works...

I tried wild for a few months last year during lockdown and hated the bloody thing. It didn't work for me at all. I found the deodorant really oily so that, combined with sweat... gross and uncomfortable. I think their advice is to apply more during the day but I'd have to wipe it all off and reapply from the start due to said oiliness!! The scents are nice though. Dunno if it's just me but my body didn't adapt to it, but I've heard similar from other people.
