When did not wanting sexualised content in classrooms become homophobic?

Pre- and primary school kids should learn about different types of families, not about men dressing up as women for sexualised entertainment. Would a picture book about women 'empowered by sex work' be appropriate? Perhaps a story about how mummy and daddy enjoy dressing up for each other? Actually, I'd rather not hear the answer from these deluded adults.

These people need to stop watching so much Drag Race and accept that elements of drag ARE misogynistic. A lot of people seem to think drag is just messing about with wigs and dresses and that makes it OK for kids.

I've been to plenty of drag shows and you do get all sorts - a lot of them now are very heavy on production and dancing, some are a bit more quirky and cabaret-style, but your standard local drag show tends to be pretty rude and close to the bone. There's a reason why they take place in clubs for people aged 18+.

Hello, just popping in with something that made me happy today - I'm just back from a gynae scan at Guy's Hospital, where not only is their gynae wing clearly labelled 'Women's Health', but also, there was a white board with a notice about waiting times and it was addressed to 'ladies attending the clinic'. There are parts of the NHS that retain sense!

Absolutely. I like drag and cabaret but like a lot of things I like, I don't think it's suitable for young children.

this is the thing, you would never give a young child a book about someone working in a bar-drag or otherwise- makes no sense to them. I would rather, as you said, same sex parent families, single parent families or things like mum going to work, dad staying at home and cleaning to offer a differnet but relatable perspective on what may be a differnet lifestyle

Why can't they see the mundane stuff that heterosexual people can model themselves on, like a couple doing the weekly shop, buying a house or going on holiday. Why can't same-sex attracted young people see themselves in the everyday, than an exhausting never-ending celebration of themselves.

Because to be this way is to ''assimilate'' and is not ''radical'' enough. Keep in mind, this is what I would see on tumblr from self identified queers who were mostly women in polyamorous relationships with men. To me, being able to do the normal and mundane stuff like buying a nice house, creating a life and family with another woman was the absolute dream. What's wrong with finally being able to enjoy something you and people like you were previously denied? Nothing IMO. But now those of us who are happy with this type of life are the white "cis" middle class oppressors of people who dye their hair all colours of the rainbow.

I think the ~radical queer~ women on tumblr whose posts I used to see floating around judged gay men and lesbians for ''assimilating'' because we were doing the the things they always could and that just wasn't fun or exciting enough for them.

Honestly, who, apart from Jack Monroe, still cares about Bond? If anything is a dinosaur, it's the bleeping Bond franchise. It's irrelevant beyond belief. Exactly, and what if there is no bus nearby to “flag down”... what does a woman do then? The police need to get their act together because they are really showing how little value is placed on the safety of women.

I thought I knew all the ‘keep safe’ tips (such as not walking at night, not wearing earphones, carrying keys between your fingers) which have been drummed into me since childhood but I read a new one today. Along with flagging down a bus, Twitter also told me to tit myself because humans are naturally adverse to bowel movements so if you’re kidnapped and poop yourself, your chances of being grape go down a bit.

How insulting for all the incredible female athletes in New Zealand to be told that actually, the best female in athlete in NZ is in fact an old balding man who had no notable achievements competing against men so decided to compete against woman but still managed to come last in their heats at the Olympics...

For teens in particular, it’s a personality trait. They want to talk about trans issues constantly. Considering the big problems we have in this country and throughout the world, trans issues pale in comparison. Want to wear a dress, wear a dress! Don’t try and say you’re a woman though.

Seriously though, teens in the 90s watched films, went to roller discos, to the cinema, McDonalds, and learned instruments and music, typically. Now all kids seem to have is endless scrolling on social media, greenwashing eco brands (expensive and performative) and gender identity. It’s sad. What happened to all the youth activity clubs at weekends?

I imagine in 10 years time there'll be tv adverts about claiming for miss sold gender surgery/hormones

This is a brilliant article and should be shown to anyone who claims it doesn't hurt kids to put them on blockers. Most people genuinely don't know about this side of trans and it is absolutely horrifying. I think most people would be peaked by reading it tbh. Particularly the part about infertility and most being unable to ever achieve an orgasm, it feels tantamount to FGM in some of these cases but done to both boys and girls.

I found this description of treatment of gender dysphoria prior to the past decade really interesting:
"Since nearly seven in 10 children initially diagnosed with gender dysphoria eventually outgrew it — many go on to be les or gay adults — the conventional wisdom held that, with a little patience, most kids would come to accept their bodies. The underlying assumption was children didn’t always know best."

This seems like such common sense to me. I cannot believe how far we have fallen in the past 10 or so years, and the irreversible damage we have done to so many innocent kids. It's heartbreaking.

This person previously worked as an OB/GYN, saw the effects of FGM in women but had no qualms in going ahead and removing the healthy genitals of children, including Jazz Jennings (operated and experimented on a few months short of their 18th birthday). They are the lobotomists of our time and need to be held accountable.

Yeah - and the surgeon insisting to the other [during one of the multiple genital revision surgeries Jazz Jennings had], "Lemme do it this way. I know what I'm doing," and who said to Jazz that they've taken so many photos of their genitals, "You could be a porn star," that's Bowers.

If you can stomach it, the footage of the surgeons arguing on camera whilst operating on Jazz is here (starts approx 14.35), with radical feminist commentary. The porn star comments are made at 15.57 (whilst Jazz is having medical photography of their genitals, taken by two men.)

After reading that I am even more appalled at how Jazz has been treated. That is child abuse.
We have laws against FGM. How is this not illegal? Condemning healthy people to have immature bodies and brains and no sexual development is mind boggling. I know there is a problem with bringing arguments back to the Nazis but this is what they did!
That doctor should be worried, they should be imprisoned for experimenting on children.
And however much you call it a neo tina - it’s an open wound. They probably wreck the pelvic floor as well messing around down there so incontinence to go with it?

I think we're about 10-15 years away from a serious avalanche of legal cases - when the current teen and preteen cohort discover they're infertile and have no sexual response.
