Yes loved Gemma since hollyoaks, feel like she's been a good influence throughout my life. Now do nice to see someone so down to earth on Instagram. Her focus on health and wellbeing is great rather than diet culture. She calls out bad things in the best way possible. Do wish she was on TV again someone like her would be good on loose women, they need a younger fresher attitude

I think she does that Steph's Lunch or whatever is it, I've never watched it. Agree she should be on tv more though, she stands for good things and I really like her approach to health, fitness, animals, she seems like a good friend and parent too.
When instagram seems to be full of celebs sucking up to each other, it's very refreshing that she doesn't take part in any of that and just values the friendships she's had since school. Not that she comes across as cold, but just seems to realise all that side of being famous is a bit fake and transient.

I've a lot of respect for the fact she's turned down work because it would take her away from home. I know it's difficult for mums in the public eye and there's a lot of pressure to say yes to stuff because you're worried you won't be asked again, but I sometimes think many of them will regret not having that time with their kids when they're young

i know she means well with sharing all the optimistic pregnancy is amazing stuff and oh im getting a private midwife to lower the load on the NHS, but surely most of her followers are bang average income and could only ever dream of going private. Nothing like making them worry there is something wrong, i feel like this may be a long pregnancy!

I'm with you on this. There's far too many entitled brats in this world and I admire her stance on discipline.
Totally get her concerns over raising a spoilt brat, but Mia is still very young and locking her in her room by holding the door shut and labeling her as naughty just isn't the way,

No health care professional or Early years practitioner would support what shes advocating trust me but you know Gemma she can school anyone in any thing she's the authority 🙄

I really like Gemma but the ITS stuff is such rubbish and so unlike her. Maybe I'm getting old but this corset on top of the outfit is ridiculous...
Call me old/old fashioned but this looks ridiculous and I think she must even realise that too ! the more casual stuff is 'OK' but still overpriced tat... who brings out a new range with 40% off straight away.... ! I really like her most the time but these ITS collaborations make me cringe !

I absolutely looove the work she does with the dog rehoming stuff. If only more people with her following done similar stuff, we wouldn’t have as many animals languishing in rehoming centres for as long.

As a sometimes judgmental non parent I think she's right about needing to put the foot down when they're young if you don't want them to be arseholes when they're older - you do observe patterns of behaviour in how friends and family interact with their kids IMO, whether you have kids yourself or not.
(I didn't watch her stories so not commenting on her tone etc, just on what you've quoted above)

Yeah, I didn't think she was being judgemental, just explaining her reasons. I wasn't too fussed about my kids coming into bed but I completely get why some people don't want to encourage it. I had to set boundaries with loads of other stuff though 😆
I also didn’t find her to be judgemental, just explaining how and why she does things the way she does. As a teacher of young children who sees some questionable parenting and horrifically behaved children, I also admire her stance on discipline.

I really like Gemma she and Gorka seem perfect and little Mia is a delight. She really needs more air time as she has such a good body positive message which is really subtle

Another reason I like her is because she just got on with it when Gorka was away for Strictly. I know she said she had her parents helping out but looking after Mia alone must have been tough for her, especially during lockdowns. I was so impressed she kept up her fitness routine and eating properly etc, I think loads of people would understandably sack it off but she didn't. She never complained or went on the beg for stuff like some zlebs would do.
I unfollowed some celebs on insta because of their inability to read the room when it came to lockdown - I know everyone is going to find it tough no matter what their circumstances, but constantly moaning on social media when you're in a much better position than others was just too much. I appreciated that Gemma seemed to get the balance right when Gorka was away - acknowledging it was tough (and more so for Gorka) but trying to focus on the positives

I absolute love Gemma, she’s so real and nice, you could imagine having a pint and a good chat with her. She deserves her lovely little family, I hope they are always as happy as they appear to be ❤

Thing is, at the end of the day, her and Gorks have a mortgage to pay. She's only a local DJ realistically (with a book deal and the ITS deal, both of which probably don't pay excessively), and the pro dancers don't get a lot compared to the celebs, hence the ads. He's not even headlined his own tour.

Times are getting harder and maybe she just does it to put money in the bank. We've all been there, done it. She's got aging pets, maybe vets bills are getting more.

To some, maybe she is selling out. Maybe she's just protecting their future. I enjoy the family stuff with Mia (she's got a fab accent!), Esp with her crush on Will Mellor 🤣
I do agree with this but I also HATE In The Style and all that they are / stand for, so it’s still frustrating that she’s in business with them. I wish she could have done a clothing line with a more sustainable brand that was more aligned with her actual personal style.

Her daughter is adorable.

Big Gemma fan here, love her an Gorka both, one of the few insta stars stories I'll actually sit an watch rather than skipping on through. Seems a down to earth, genuine girl. Wee Mia is just an absolute cutie pie too. They come across as a lovely family.

I don’t like ITS but if you shop at ANY high street brand, you are buying clothes made by people in shit conditions. I don’t like the clothes she does with them nor how they make her look nothing like herself in the ads but I can’t say anything about the rest. I live in clothes from H&M, River Island, Primark, ASOS & my kids live in clothes from Asda & Sainsburys. All of which are fast, cheap fashion made by people in god awful conditions. I hate that I do, I wish I could do better but I can’t afford it. The only good thing I do do is not overconsume. I very rarely buy new clothes for myself & I get 90% of my kids clothes from Vinted.

I think it’s easy to take the high horse with stuff like this & fair play if you shop entirely ethically & sustainably but I suspect most people don’t.
I'm in the same boat - I try to buy secondhand when I can but I'm a student nurse with kids and an ever-increasing mortgage so for some stuff I just have to use Primark, H&M etc. Ethically speaking, most of these brands are the same - ITS have the same ethical rating as River Island, Next and Nobody's Child on the Good On You site and they're probably considered 'good' brands by a lot of people

Obviously, it doesn't make any of it ok, it's just a reflection of the godawful state of the fashion industry in general and it sucks. Although i'm not justifying Gemma working with ITS as they just seem sketchy and dodgy in other ways (and I suspect their bubble might burst soon anyway) but I can't get too uppity about it as I buy cheap clothes

Also, I like her - she seems like a decent, down to earth person in a lot of ways and nobody's perfect. I'm allowed to say that on a rave thread right? 😜

Me too, and I like that she’s pretty open about the shit side of life and not being the perfect human too!
Yeah I love her and Gorka and their little girl is a cutie. I just wish she didn’t do ITS clothes!
