I thought of Gabby the other day. I’m a teacher and have just started my summer holiday. I can get a bit down in the dumps through lack of routine, I don’t have many friends in education. So do often just find myself waiting around for the weekend and generally waiting around feeling sorry for myself over the summer break. I did a few days of hospitality work at ascot races… I am 31 and most of the other staff there were either 16-22 or older ladies (grannies etc) and it was just so nice. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and although we were working it was a nice day that I did enjoy (and got paid for too). No pressure on making friendships, probably won’t work with these people ever again, just nice chats to pass the time. After 2 days of that I didn’t feel guilty having a sofa and Netflix day at all, and I did enjoy the experience. Something like that would be so good for Gab! Just to break her out of her comfort zone, and make socialising a little easier after she gets used to being around other people again. Yes she won’t click with everyone and might have some awkward encounters at first, but she will get get better at small talk and approaching people and get out of her flat and head a bit. But she would never.
