He’s been hyped in the U.K. for AGES. More so than Lando even. I think my issue comes from the fact (and this is rumours of course) that Merc seem to have taken George’s feedback, and not the 8 time WDC winner. The rumblings from people in the know are that Lewis was never convinced by the W13, even after Brazil. He thought yep, it’s a decent car, but good enough to be on par with what RB will bring? No. Whereas George, probably because he was the one that got the win, was bullish in his support of the concept (which suits his driving style, and not Lewis’) and look what’s happened. It’s a terrible car. Now you can’t pin the blame solely on George but I don’t think his feedback should have held the same weight as Lewis’. George, with all due respect, has only ever had 1 race in a championship winning car. I think the engineers have overestimated how much he understands what’s needed. Just my opinion and a few things I’ve seen/heard, but yeah. Because they have no rear downforce they also have no rear grip. As soon as they start to add downforce, which should come with a concept change it’ll naturally shift towards Lewis and then George will have to be the one adapting
