i really do not agree with calling someone a “rapist”, its a HUGE disrespect for genuine victims of sexual abuse and rape.

I don’t agree with “all white people are racist”, you want people to not marginalise you for your skin colour? Please don’t do it to others.

I have replied to this thread ages ago with criticisms of her. Doesn’t mean that I can’t reply to yours?? I’m hardly her biggest fan but what you said wasn’t really a sound or fair criticism of her ideas.

Chidera's first few stories about everything seemed quite informative and to the point, but now she's just going after everyone who dares object against her. Florence hasn't been on Instagram in days, Diving Bell was quiet until their statement release, Gina Martin was bullied off and now Munroe Bergdorf. It's mental to me that Chidera thinks this is really going to solve the problem. I'm not advocating for either side in this equation, but surely she recognises that this is an issue that should be dealt with offline, either with management or lawyers, not your Instagram audience? If she wants to make them aware of any racial inequalities (which probably do play a part, let's be honest) then she can do so without dragging everyone through the mud

That’s someone who publically shamed one of the biggest cosmetic companies in the world even losing a contract with them about white supremacy.

I think whoever Chidera’s mate who she reposted isn’t quite right saying that Munro’s is waiting for permission for white people to speak, she seems to have no issue speaking up on the truth. there is very clearly Chidera’s side, Florences Side and the truth which is a mix of both I presume.

Yes but when it hasn't involved their agent or Florence they have all been people who have been so quick to criticise others publicly. Just makes you feel they care more about their contract with their agency than doing the right thing.

Now that it's become abundantly clear that Chidera doesn't have any sort of intellectual property case against Florence... I wonder if Florence or Diving Bell will instigate any legal action against Chidera (or, come to think of it, loudbossygross)? Both FG and DB have suffered considerable detriment to their reputations (and damages to their bottom lines, I should imagine) as a result of the false allegations of plagiarism. It could be quite an interesting defamation claim and there's an absolute truckload of evidence.

What do people reckon are the chances that either FG or DB would sue Chidera for libel? I'm 50/50, on the one hand I feel like they would avoid it and just wait for the whole thing to die down so as not to be seen as wielding the law against a Black woman. But also I feel like Diving Bell especially would LOVE to have a judgment proving themselves to be in the right lol. Personally I think a libel case would have a far greater chance of success than an intellectual property claim.

totally agree with this - my issue with her statement is how can you go from posting shit like THE FLOSS EFFECT to saying “I’ve never claimed to be the first person to talk about these topics”. It just doesn’t sit right with me.

I think there’s probably a lot going on behind the scenes, unfortunately as Chidera appears to have been dropped by their management she will come out worse from the situation while this will all blow over for Florence and she’ll carry on as before.

It just makes me sad - “dump him” feminism is so dated and completely ignores the fact that probably a large percentage of men in floss’ age range were raised by feminists, it’s so reductive to just be like “men are trash” no people can all be trash it’s not a gender specific trait lol

Agree 100% with everything you said. All this just makes me feel better for her making me uncomfortable to start with.

I feel really bad for Chidera. It seems like she has tried to resolve this behind the scenes- Florence said at launch Chidera asked for endorsement to be removed, so it has been going on since then. She had every right to then try raise awareness of the issue.

What is so wrong to expect a company who is run by white people, who are preaching about BLM, who manage black people and make money off them, to donate a small amount of the money they make to BLM? Also they complained about her demand to add a BLM landing page but then did it anyway? She also said in their original meeting they actually eventually agreed, then changed their minds again. They were free to say no, originally, then they could've parted ways, but they weren't as open as that. It also doesn't excuse their abhorrent behaviour following this.

Didn’t that man’s email state that they already donate to several causes?

I think it’s naive to suggest to a relatively small company that they add £100 to their expenditure because you want them to.

Do they donate or potentially use that £100 to support new talent? Or £100 extra for their current roster or talent? Regardless of my role and who I work for, if I told my company that I’m holding back work because I want them to change their whole website structure (which costs time and money) and increase their charitable donations then they have every right to say no to her.

Even in that Caroline Dooner's stories she says "I just heard about florence fucking over the slumflower" but isn't everyone giving florence a little too much credit? I don't know how these influencer book deals work but I highly doubt florence had anything much to do with the marketing (or even writing) of her book. Is it not just her face and her artwork in a hardback book for a publisher to make a pretty penny out of.
