I woudl really love a thread for Aja Barber. She's put an ad up on her instagram but hasn't correctly labelled it an ad. yet again showing her hypocrisy. She set up a Patron to get paid for "the work" she does..... yet still accepts gifted items nad paid advertisement work without declaring it. (for anyone who doesn't know - and for Aja if you're reading here - any gifted items are considered payment in the UK and therefore need to have AD at the beginning of your caption!!!)
Would also love a thread for Aja, I agree with a lot of the things she says, but then she can be so hypocritical and rude at times, god forbid you disagree with her!

When she mentioned being cancelled, did she say what she thought about it? Or just referred to it?
She didn’t, but it felt like she was dying for people to ask her what happened and no one did. We were talking about an issue a friend had had on socials and she chimed in with, verbatim, “When I was cancelled…”

Honestly where did this woman come from? She’s soooo young and became Instagram famous and got a cult following, I don’t know how? Does she have industry connections or rich parents. Either way, she’s always seemed very disingenuous, the same as her mate Slumflower. I’m not the biggest fan of men in the world but the both of them spout some terrible advice sometimes. I’m not gonna be schooled on men by a woman in her early 20s who turned out to be a bully in school 🖕🏻
No idea where she came from but she makes me cringe. A lot.

I wonder if she's not getting the response she wants (everyne cancelling Florence and her getting all the money) that she's digging her heels in even more resulting in her looking completely mental in the process.

Interesting! From loudbossygross insta.
Sounds to me like there is lots of dirt on Chidera but Diving Bell and it’s other influencers don’t want to say for fear of being labelled as racist or being accused of gaslighting. Despite Chidera’s stupid comments on twitter I’m sure there are plenty of Black women who would still speak up for her if she was giving the full story and the fact that they aren’t is very fishy.

I'm not so sure I believe too much that "florences book always shows up when you search for slumflower's book"

It doesn't for me even if I type in exactly what Chidera did ie "Chidera Eggerue Feminist Book" which makes me think that Chidera has googled Florence's name so damn much or been talking about her online so much in relation to her own work that google has just adapted the algorithm to show Chidera what she's actually most interested in.
Search engines work like this no? It shows different results for different people based on where you are and what you've previously search so..... That says a lot about what Chidera has been searching for lately!!!

Do you think FG and diving bell are just sitting back and waiting for it to become old news?
I think that’s exactly what they’re doing, I’d be surprised if they mention it again, they probably only would if Chidera actually resorted to legal action.

I think throughout this Chidera has had some valid points (comparing Florence to a rapist not being one) but I think for many, myself included, latest requests are just too ridiculous.
She can’t honestly expect they would ever do either, so is it all just for show?

it does seem that Chidera is upset about being dropped by Diving Bell for whatever reason and it using it as a chance to say that a white woman got more attention than her. Please do not think this is me downplaying the racial aspects of this issue because I think that it does have a part to play (Florence is more palatable as a thin, white, pretty woman) but I think Chidera is going on a witchhunt over something that isn't entirely Florence's fault
I can’t stand Florence but the more that comes out the more I think this. There’s obviously more to this than is being let on about specifics.

Chidera ha
I used to really like Florence but since BLM I’ve definitely looked for more perspectives outside the white, middle class, conventionally attractive influencer bubble. However, I don’t think she did copy Chidera. Personal opinion but I think their covers don’t really look alike and a book about feminism by a young woman is going to explore similar themes. It’s good that Chidera has raised the issue of bias towards books by white writers and they are valid criticisms of her management, publishers and society in general. But she has not yet said why she decided to leave her management and with her now going after Gina Martin it just seems like a personal vendetta. I also find it interesting that I have only seen 1 other black woman publicly support Chidera. There is obviously so much more going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about!
Chidera has upset other black influencers via Twitter over the past year so I’m not surprised she has little support. The one thing that did it was her saying she didn’t care about male suicide.

I missed the stuff with Slumflower, what was the story?
Slumflower said Florence copied her book.

Sumflower wanted said book pulling off the shelves or a large percentage of the sales profit.

Florence attempted to make a donation to a black mental health charity. This was refused by the charity.

Slumflower said she was going to take legal action. She also got dropped from her management which was also Florence's management I believe. Florence went quiet and put out a statement (obviously written for her).

Then I think people just got bored and forgot about the problem.

It's insane to me that she didn't speak up on this, supposedly being such a massive feminist?!
She didn't talk about Sabina Nessa being murdered either. I guess unless something happens directly to her it doesn't matter

FG was sort of like my introduction into feminism and when I first read her book it was all new to me. But now my eyes have been opened to the fact that she is not doing anything revolutionary but actually she is heavily influenced by other people and passes it off as her own work!

Does anyone have any suggestions of better feminist accounts to follow?
Roxane Gay is really fantastic for accessible but really intelligent and nuanced discussion. She is hilarious too.
