Erm... have you read her book?? She has a whole section dedicated to not judging women on how good a feminist they are based on what they do. She specifically says dont judge other women for shaving/getting surgery etc.... Surprised to see someone agree with your take when thats what she speaks against in her book.
No, and I don’t plan to. Like i said I’m not a fan of hers.
Regardless what she wrote, I just don’t like the air of arrogance she has around the topic.
Granted, I stopped following ages ago and yes it’s quite possible she may have changed her attitude since then.
I wouldn’t take my opinion personally hon, I’m not here to bicker with other posters. You like her, I don’t, it’s not anything to get butthurt about.

Haha no I’ve not read her book, because I think she comes over a condescending and childish.

There’s a rave section too. So set up a thread to talk about how empowering she is there.

I have replied to this thread ages ago with criticisms of her. Doesn’t mean that I can’t reply to yours?? I’m hardly her biggest fan but what you said wasn’t really a sound or fair criticism of her ideas.

It is when she’s telling people who are perfectly happy to dump their husbands. I mean what planet does she live on???
Didn’t say you can’t reply. I don’t agree with you that’s all. I said if you like her a lot then create a rave thread.

To my knowledge she has never told a person who is happily married to dump their husband? She has said before that her dump him phrase is directed towards women in unhappy relationships.

I don’t like her a lot, I just think critically about the rhetoric she uses.

I have seen her say ‘dump him’ many times to people on her stories. I’m really not here to defend myself on how someone makes me feel on social media.

And as for you suggesting that I lack critical thinking.... by ‘Floss’s’ standards I should have ‘dumped him’ many times over the years.... relationships are hard from time to time, tit happens. Times are hard when you have kids, financial struggles, illness, deaths in families etc. All things she has no idea about as she’s prancing on her keyboard in her bedroom. So that’s what I’m saying. She lacks the experience in my opinion, because she hasn’t been through all that. But obviously I don’t think critically enough about her 😂

Finally read a sample of her book and was interested in buying but decided to listen to her on a few podcasts first. Does anyone else think she sounds exactly like gracefit? Not just the actual voice but the way she talks and the words she uses. Tbh even a lot of the sentences as a whole. Sounded exactly like grace giving an interview about her career. Where everything is already rehearsed in her head (cos she’s done so many interviews) and constantly interrupts/nods in agreement. Sounds bad but it’s put me off a bit. Assumed she was posh and privileged but now I just think of grace.
It was the lalalaletmeexplain podcast btw. Never listened to Layla before so I dunno her either but was more interested in hearing what she had to say. Felt a bit weird with 21 yo Florence butting in all the time with her experience. Seemed kind of full of herself and like she knows everything.
Would anyone say it’s still worth the read? Or got any better recommendations.
I love lalala - so informative. She's got life experience, was a social worker and is a qualified relationship councillor (if I'm not mistaken) I think that it really gives her the edge and I really value what she says. I've not heard the podcast with Florence, will have to check it out.

Florence again, not sharing my thoughts opinions... Probably because I'm straight cis woman, married with kids. She asked something along the lines of "what do you do even though you've been shamed for it?"
I said 'shaved my head', she didn't share it despite sharing LOADS of generic answers like "talking loudly", "growing armpit hair", "reading your book Florence". Then it dawned on me, Florence loves her mullet doesn't she? So again, she's only sharing answers that she agrees with or that reflect her opinions. That's how it seems anyway.

When she has it flicked back from her face she looks less Farrah Fawcett and more Beverly Goldberg!

Honestly where did this woman come from? She’s soooo young and became Instagram famous and got a cult following, I don’t know how? Does she have industry connections or rich parents. Either way, she’s always seemed very disingenuous, the same as her mate Slumflower. I’m not the biggest fan of men in the world but the both of them spout some terrible advice sometimes. I’m not gonna be schooled on men by a woman in her early 20s who turned out to be a bully in school 🖕🏻

No idea where she came from but she makes me cringe. A lot.

I feel like I’ve done a complete 180 with Florence. When I first came across her I was a fan and bought her book and felt engaged with her content. But lately it just feels like she’s kind of flaunting what she has in the faces of everyone at a time when it’s just not appropriate. One minute she’s abroad, next minute she’s got a nice new apartment but then also heaping on the pressure to be this optimal activist. Being a good activist wasn’t the catalyst for her new fame and fortune or the lifestyle she has and is happy with. Some of us are just trying to get through the day without drowning in everything that’s going on.

She reeks of privileged white woman who doesn’t actually believe anything she says. I don’t buy her whole persona whatsoever.

No I don’t. I just don’t understand how people like her, it’s the too young know all-ness that gets me. Like I’ve said above, my relationship has been through a lot, a lot that she doesn’t understand with her simplistic ‘dump him’ etc. She must amuse a certain type of person

I used to like Florence but the other day on her stories one of her followers asked her something like "how come you're so self confident at such a young age?" and her answer was just "because of trauma" which I just think is such an empty and ridiculous thing to say when she seems to have a hell of a lot of young followers who hang on her every word. Surely there must be positive reasons that she could have mentioned as why she is self confident?!

Oh for duck sake, we all have trauma we don’t throw the word around like it’s a fashion statement. Supposedly she’s a bully so what about their trauma? What a narcissist

Yeah this pissed me off too. Many people I know (myself included) have been through so much tit and we’re not self confident one bit. Maybe having rich parents helping her along the way in life, having a tit ton of money that she’s made through her followers who rely on her every word are what contributes to her having this confidence she oozes, whilst dancing around in her new place in her underwear in London during a bleeping pandemic, a time where people have lost their jobs, homes and even family members. But whatever, it’s ok for her, as she continues to tame her bag haircut and prance around to music on Insta.
