I genuinely don’t think that was one of the twins who posted that, I reckon it was someone quite young probs like a fan girl of them! it was a bit of a immature reply re how other people live and afford holidays.

i started following them when they did a lot of lives - I genuinely really liked them but I haven’t seen one in years I don’t know if it’s because their too busy or maybe I don’t see their posts anymore?

Hinch, Monroe et al regularly set their Twitter / Insta followers on people, delete their involvement then pretend their fans went on a rampage off their own backs. It wouldn’t be inconceivable that some insta bakers might have a similar approach.

People discussing their idols and bringing up problematic aspects of their strategy or products isn’t about people being “jelly” or a personal slight on the fans who feel a genuine connection with them.

A lot of people bake, and a lot of people live near frou frou bakeries or are connected to someone who runs one. People are going to compare and contrast. For example, the twins probably use the offcuts and leftovers of cake and frosting from the production of their big cakes / cupcakes to put in a jar to sell. On Trustpilot they seem to be the most complained about thing. I knew someone who would use leftover sponge with stewed fruits and summer fruits to make hot puddings after finding the cake pops she made with the crumbs pretty dire.

Instead of insulting a board of people talking about the importance of using decent ingredients, maybe the fans / twins could actually see that people are actually throwing up suggestions to improve.

But no, it’s all about the clout not the baking, isn’t it ladies?

I’ve never thought about how I look / hair make up done to go and get a subway but their posts make me think twice about nipping to them for a cake.

It’s almost as if I’m ‘not good enough’ to shop with them, does that makes sense ?

I definitely feel this. When I went to FB ages ago I felt so self conscious and even joked to my friend that I needed to put makeup before going so they don’t judge.

Maybe they’re nice in real life (I’ve only ever been served by Lauren and she was really lovely both times) but some of the things they post are so mean and judgy and it stresses me out. Especially when they talk about bodies etc (like saying they want to be “thin as streaks of piss”) (also i realise its Tessa saying that but the twins have said some really ‘fatphobic’ things in the past which made me feel self conscious when actually buying stuff at the bakery, if that makes sense)

I don't really rate their cakes - not made with quality ingredients and full of preservatives, artificial and other nasties so not really much difference than a £1.59 cake in lidls apart from being ten times the price. Oh so she hasn’t actually got in yet?
Also they’ve put on their story ‘dental therapist bsc’ so she’s not actually going to be a dentist - like a dental nurse or something. I know two people who tried to get into dentistry a couple of times and ended up doing dental therapy instead. Still a good job but it’s not as competitive or hard to get into as actual dentistry.

She complained the first time she ever posted a photo of alba with a big puffy coat on that so many people told her how dangerous it was. Yet continues to do it

People are messaging because it is so unsafe, god forbid she crashed! I would have more respect if she said I didn’t know about this, thank you for the messages. Instead they are very passive aggressive

Also remember that seat was OLD and gifted so not even up to standard. Maybe kit your child out safely in your expensive Range Rover parked on the drive of your new home. A joie is about £70.. sure her safety is worth more.

They did do a lot of things that they posted online that seemed to be too back to normal in a pandemic. The blondie recipe is from Leticia bakes! It’s very in depth and you get sent a PDF once you buy it, it’s only £2 as well and I swear to god tastes exactly the same.

They have a finch bakery cook book on amazon pre order. I cannot stand them. They are ridiculously rude. Georges bakery is 1000 times better then them, and he is a nice person.

I’m really interested to see what’s going to be in the book because they seemed to have created loads of new recipes just for the book which seems to defeat the object...is it going to just be stuff like ‘use melted spread for a drip’ and ‘the same buttercream recipe the rest of the world uses’, surely they’re not going to give away the actual recipes they use for their business? Jane’s Patisserie also has a book coming out and as much as I love her recipes I’m wondering the same, will it just be the same old stuff bound in a pretty book

Is anyone else confused by this?? If you’re using dairy free things how can cross contamination occur

It's to cover themselves legally from Trading standards & potential lawsuits, eg if someone had an allergic reaction & they stated their products were vegan they would be liable.

Cross contamination could literally be using a knife that has a speck of butter on to make a vegan cake, it might be enough to kill someone with a severe allergy so legally to say they are vegan would have to have a vegan factory with absolutely no animal products in the production areas.

whats wrong with supermarket chained vouchers? How materialistic, that is someone’s food shop for the week which you wouldn’t know if their staff would want or need. I’d absolutely love my food shop paid for (and a bottle of gin!!) You’re also missing off the other vouchers- amazon, local shop, voucher of their choice, I think you’re being slightly unfair even if they are slightly showing off they “treat” their staff.

As you said you don’t know what your staff want or need. So give them the cash and don’t make that decision for them by giving them a bloody Asda voucher. They’re adults, they have agency, they can choose how to spend their money. Why are they being given supermarket vouchers as a gift? I find that very weird.

Not to mention these are their own staff - if they think they’re struggling to pay for a food shop on the minimum wage they pay them, that says a lot about them as employers.

I don’t think this is unreasonable, my workplace do the supermarket vouchers at Christmas, usually get a discount through the supplier if you order over a certain amount too.

You do know you can buy a different voucher in asda with your voucher. i used to get an Asda one each year and go in store & buy an Asos voucher, you don't have to buy your turkey with it. Of all the problematic things they do at times, the vouchers aren't one of them i think. bragging about it is unnecessary.

BTW i think whichever's daughter Alba is so cute, i actually want her saying 'oh you look beautiful' as my alarm tone for an early morning boost of confidence!

My thoughts on Finch have always been that their cake looks like my teeth would instantly rot and fall out from the sweetness and that the twins would have ripped the absolute shit out of me in high school

Yes they use stork blocks for buttercream . It’s rank. Agree with the post above they seem to bulk buy cheap ingredients and don’t use quality stuff for their cakes etc. Annoys me when people say ‘buttercream’ but their isn’t any butter in it should be margcream
