I’m so shocked about Mia saying she isn’t doing her gcses. I personally don’t see the point in not doing them unless she needs them, surely it would be easier to do them now rather than if/when the whole YouTube thing dies down because she would be at such a disadvantage compared to other people her age. I can’t get over it!

I don’t think she actually realises how important they are, I remember her comparing them to year 6 sats and that she didn’t need to do them because she didn’t do year 6 sats and she’s fine so she doesn’t need to do gcses. I’m pretty sure all jobs needs some GCSEs at least.

Exactly, I can’t believe her parents are just allowing it either

Their newset video was such a flop!! All those 'juicy' click-bait questions in the thumbnail all either answered un-tastefully with laughter or a straight up "no" and then they moved on?
They've really got no tact in addressing situations - they made it clear that they know that people are asking about Mia's biological dad, Mia's education, Karma's breastfeeding, Karma's development and that people think Sienna is left out yet they just play it off as a joke.
Sienna had no idea what was going on when they answered the assumption about her being left out poor thing - also she had no idea what being bisexual was? So much was wrong with how they addressed that assumption - why did Darren need to act so shocked? Why did Georgie need to say he "only has eyes for her"? Why didn't they stop and explain what it meant to Sienna?

Considering Georgie grew up in a 'cult' and hated it, its pretty sad shes now bringing up her children the same way.

I was so shocked about the GCSEs and the fact that she was so 100% completely confident that she'll never work for anyone. Like. What? Does anyone truly know exactly what they'll do? Who wants to close all the doors like that? It's amazing that they don't correct her either.
I was super disappointed in how quickly they jumped through the questions. And the fact that they kind of treat Sienna like a prop. I'm truly disappointed to see that she still seems left out.

No idea. I remember them once saying they supported lgbt because of the whole "be yourself" thing.. but then they moved to Dubai, where "being yourself" when you're gay is literally illegal! and now they acted like that in their new video. they seem to be going backwards.
its all for views. all of the clickbaity thumbnails. all they do is exploit serious issues for their own gain, and it's disgusting.

I agree - it seemed like a big step back from the support they used to claim! I'm feeling now that it was more to do with marketing their "be yourself" merch etc. as it was never brought up before the merch. Earlier in the thread it was also brought up that they had been using the hashtag "lovewins" wrongfully on their posts too - I think they were using it on posts relating to the virus when it first broke out??
It is so shocking how people sell out their values for social media gain

I didn't even realise this because I don't look at their instagram, but I just checked and they still have the hashtags up! They've done a lot of bad things in their youtube career but using an oppressed community for likes, views and comments is one of the worst, along with exploiting their own kids. I'm so angry at this whole situation, especially the fact that they've been living it up in Dubai, gaining money from them, whilst actual gay/bi people in Dubai are in danger. The least they could've done their is use their platform to raise awareness to this whilst in Dubai but no. And then they have the audacity to do what they did today. It's unbelievable at this point.

I'm shocked Mia won't do her GCSE's, and it's upsetting to see Darren and Georgie allowing it. She is so called "homeschooled" but practises maths by measuring out ingredients for baking and does English by writing her book. GCSE's are important to get any basic level job...really do wonder what she is actually doing with her homeschooling if she isn't working towards anything e.g. exams, like the entire country is. I feel so bad for the other children, who will most likely fall behind in their education. Sienna and Mia did go to school for some time but I doubt Koa and Karma will ever go to school. These kids have no friends, they need to socialise with people their age. It's sad to see Mia is 15 and probably has hardly ever gone out with people her own age. And everyone asking whether Mia has a boyfriend? Seriously, she doesn't have the chance to interact with anyone other than her family how would she get a boyfriend? I really did like this family back in Gran Canaria, but now it's all about the money.

Notice how Mia's book is the #1 best seller in history of slavery. At least amazon see these youtube families for what they are

Although Mia has decided exams aren’t for her, I don’t agree with her justification of it ‘because I won’t be working for someone else’. I do like Family Fizz for the most part but I do disagree with airing views like this online. They have a lot of young impressionable viewers who could take this idea on board and slack at school thinking exams aren’t important as they don’t plan on ‘working for someone else’ either.

Also it’s none of my business really, but I hope these views haven’t been passed on to Sienna. She strikes me as very enthusiastic about learning, and while she may be a bit behind academically (due to no fault of her own, it’s how she’s been schooled) I genuinely think she would thrive and do extremely well at mainstream school. You can tell that she’s a very bright little girl, and could go very far in life. I hope she will be encouraged to sit exams in due course.

Unfortunately Sienna seems like she's starting to head in the same direction as Mia. Their video about homeschooling she talked very negatively about school considering how much she seemed to enjoy it when she actually went. If she keeps up this dream of wanting to be a scientist I think she's going to be disappointed when she realises she actually needs an education and she's years behind. I can't them encouraging any of their children to get a formal education and they'll grow up so sheltered from the rest of the world they probably won't see it as an option

I think not pushing Mia to do her GCSEs and their lax approach to homeschooling is particularly disturbing and cult like. They don’t want their kids to become educated because then they might question their parents authority and lifestyle. They don’t want the kids to gain qualifications because that could be an escape route. They are setting the kids up to fail at independence, which is going against the main aim of bringing children up

I think their so ingrossed in this "we're so different" lifestyle that they've forgotten what the real world is actually like. It is actually cult like that they completely cut themselves off from the rest of the world. They don't stay in once place for too long so no chance of making friends. They barely speak to any family. Georgie's sister talks about her quite a lot but I don't think I've seen georgie mention her sister. It's like they just exist in their own bubble

Very true - they have basically no social connections except with people online who aren’t necessarily representative of the general public. If you exist in particular online communities (or barely exist in any community at all) of course it’s easy to lose touch with reality and think not having your child take important exams is okay and normal. I don’t watch all their videos but I get the impression they don’t even try to be social? I imagine Dubai has a large expat population so it’s not like they’d have to be thrown in at the deep end trying to befriend people from a wildly different culture & with a possible language barrier. I just feel sorry for the kids who have no choice in missing out

I've not seen that many videos only the ones my friend watched while I was there and they don't seem to do anything in Dubai. They don't look like they socialise with many other people

If they are doing GCSEs then their homeschooling is a load of crap, because you’re not working towards any qualifications, so everything will probably be a half assed approach (as we’ve seen)
Basic English and maths should be pushed, maybe they can get Mia on a makeup course , ok it’s not a GCSE but it’s a qualification, proof of commitment etc
Idk I just can’t understand why you wouldn’t want your children to be educated to the best of their ability
