I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy today. I am quite relieved - it could have been so much worse. Now it is a matter of taking a course of steroids, facial exercises and time. I can carry on as normal, but I look like a gargoyle right now! Why pay hundreds for a bad reaction to botox, when you can get it for free with Bell's Palsy!@Rockin' Robin
I hope you are OK. I looked up your symptoms and it seems severe headaches can cause eyes and mouth to droop and there's something called Bell's Palsy...
Totally understand why you might think it was a stroke though.
Let us know when you get some answers.

The recovery rate is quite good, there is a small percentage of people who do not regain full use of their face. I guess if you do everything tou can to regain the movement in the face, the higher chance of a recovery. Bells Palsy can recurJust saw your message @Rockin' Robin
So relieved you got a quick diagnosis. Also that it wasn't a stroke.
What is the recovery...Will you be back to normal? Does it happen again? Let us know.
Sending hugs

I am trying to maintain a positive attitude, afterall it could have been a lot worse.
Is there someone above her you can ring for some advice? Or HR? If you're her assistant, and she's not there, is someone else going to be covering her role? If not, what are you supposed to do?I am so cheesed off right now. I don't know if this is the right place to vent about this but here goes.
I work for a public body and my boss was suspended from work yesterday pending some enquiry into her conduct. She had to hand in all her equipment and was escorted off the premises.
The Director then sent an email out to all staff saying she wouldn't be back for several months. I work as this woman's assistant and am line managed by her. I am very upset that she has been treated like that but I don't know the nature of the complaint against her.
NOBODY has contacted me to tell me anything and only one colleague has phoned me today (I'm working from home) to see if I'm OK. So now I have no boss and haven't been told who I should report to instead.
I'm really worried that if my boss doesn't come back that I won't have a job.
Do you think I'm being selfish worrying about myself and my job?
I expected that loads of people would phone me to ask what's going on but they are all acting like nothing has happened.
Un bleeping believable
I have no idea if there will be someone else covering her role but they don't have anyone else with her expertise to hand so I doubt it.Is there someone above her you can ring for some advice? Or HR? If you're her assistant, and she's not there, is someone else going to be covering her role? If not, what are you supposed to do?
I don't think it's selfish to worry about yourself. If your boss is guilty of whatever she's been accused of, then she certainly wasn't worrying about you whilst she did it.
If it's a public body, they're not know for job cutting, so in all likelihood, she will be replaced if sacked.
You are not selfish!I have no idea if there will be someone else covering her role but they don't have anyone else with her expertise to hand so I doubt it.
I also doubt whether my boss will want to come back (even if she is cleared) because she's a proud woman.
I'm going to give it until next week and if nobody contacts me then I'll complain to HR.
The Director who is next above my boss is a very busy person and I don't expect that they will be contacting me.
My boss has 4 managers who also report to her. They are above me because I am just the bosses assistant. I expected that they would contact me to express surprise or curiosity as to why she's been suspended. Not one of them has so far.You are not selfish!
You definitely need to speak to HR ASAP. Presumably you don't have any work if she's not there to give it to you.
I don't care whether the director is busy....you are their responsibility. Can you ask them where you stand or if they would rather that you speak to HR?
Can you take over from her or stand in for her (with some help) in the interim?
Could you be moved to another department?
If you see HR be prepared for any eventuality.
I once came back from holiday to find my boss had left and I was asked to take over. Fortunately one of my staff rang me to warn me!
There's definitely some skullduggery going on and I have been frozen out from the plotters as I've always got on well with the boss.tit @Scotch Mist this sounds like skullduggery.
You are NOT selfish.
Do those 4 managers each have an assistant? If so, are any of them friendly? Could you talk to them?
If your boss was ever off sick or on holiday, who took the helm while she was absent? Can you talk to that person?
Who is the boss of your boss? Can you approach them?
If no to any of the above, then contact HR.
Yes I am in the union but I don't have any reason to contact them at the moment. I will bide my time to see what happens.@Scotch Mist If it's a public body, are you in a Union? If not, it might be worth joining asap. I don't know how long you have to be in one before they will represent you, but presumably there's some time before they can carry out an investigation and get rid of your boss, which buys you time before you might need help.
There's definitely some skullduggery going on and I have been frozen out from the plotters as I've always got on well with the boss.
Usually if my boss is on holiday one if the managers is put in charge but as yet I've not been informed of who is supposed to be heading up the department.
I'm going to see what transpires in the next few days before I decide what to do next.
One of the managers has been away on holiday and is due to return tomorrow. She's definitely the weakest link as she is a very transparent person. I'll be able to tell easily if she's in on the plot as well by how she reacts on her return. You say you are working from home.
How is your work given to you? Email?
Have you work to do?
If you don't have any work, then who's the person you would contact to see what wants doing? Could you contact that person?
If there are 4 managers under your boss and they are being tight lipped, then they all know what's happening, but when people close ranks like this, someone always blabs.
There's always one who can't keep quiet.
And there is always a weakest link.
You will need to get your hamster senses tingling & suss out which one of them is going to tell you WTF is going on.
I smell treachery.

Thanks for all your support xShe's the one to home in on.
Good luck Scotch.
Here if you need us.
